The purpose of this paper is to examine the three main translation methods used in experimental Cross-language Information Retrieval CLIR research today, namely translation using either machine-readable dictionaries, machine translation systems or corpus-based methods. Working notes from research groups participating in the Text Retrieval Conference TREC and the Cross-Language Evaluation Forum CLEF between 1997 and 2000 have provided the main source material used to discuss the possible advantages and drawbacks that each method presents. It appears that all three approaches have their pros and cons, and because the different researchers tend to favour their own chosen method, it is not possible to establish a "winner approach" to CLIR translation by studying the working notes alone. One should remember however that the present interest in cross-language-applications of information retrieval has arisen as late as in the 1990s, and thus the research is yet in its early stages. The methods discussed in this paper may well be improved, or perhaps replaced by others in the future..

The goal of this Bachelor project was to develop the Sundsvall42 website,whose name originates from the Conference held in week 42 and during whichall the IT-companies in Sundsvall gather and hold a number of different lectures.The website has been designed to accommodate both speakers and partipicants.All partipicants and lecturers will receive a personalized page inwhich there are a number of functions which are available for use, including ablog for each workshop and a calendar. The program used to create this isLiferay and the operating system is Linux. The entire website is encoded usingLiferay and Java, but the website is not adapted for use with the smaller screensize of the Smartphone. However, because of the Responsive Design technology,the website is able to adapt to various devices such as the Ipad and Smartphonesand the website will be able to adapt to the screen sizes of these devices.As it has all been processed using open-source, everyone has the right to accessthe source code. It is also possible for anyone to make changes to the code ifsuch changes are required.

This thesis is a process oriented case-study. The studied case is a interactiondesignassignment of a databasevisualisation and the process. The goalis to do this according to the ways of a screenwriter.When the computers spread from the military and university's into homes all around the world the computers and the programs had to becomeeasier for the users to understand and use. User interfacedesign became more and more important and companies like Apple put a lot of resources intothe designprocess. This quite new and evolving area of research, interactiondesign, has been forced to search for methods in other areas like lm, gamedesign, psychology and behavioural science.

An ethnographic study loosely informed by the theoretical framework of distributed cognition was carried out in order to describe how mariners have adopted the Automatic Identification System (AIS) in their work practice, or"made the technology their own". AIS is a transponder-based identification and communication system that allows ships to automatically identify and track each other. In addition to facilitating the identification and tracking of ships, objectives behind the introduction of AIS are to"simplify informational exchange", and"provide additional information to assist situation awareness". Participant observation and interviews were made at four different ships, as well as at two shore stations. A focus group was also held at a maritime Conference.

In this study we have investigated the news interview both from the perspective of the journalists and of the subjects of the interview.We have made interviews with 50 persons who participated as sources in the news and with 21 journalist who wrote the articles in the local newspapers Östran and Barometern in Kalmar, the 21 of November 2008.The journalists were asked to tell their story of how the articles where produced, how they prepared before the interviews, if they had an image of the articles in advance and if they were satisfied with the outcome of the article. The persons who had been interviewed were asked to tell us how they felt about the interviews, if they were satisfied with the outcome of the article, if they could consider being in the newspaper again and to give their opinion of local journalism.Most of the persons who had been quoted in the articles said that at least one or two things went wrong in the articles. Despite this they would not hesitate to be interviewed the newspaper again.Surprising for us was to see how often the journalists get ?served? with both the news and the subjects of the interview. It was for an example often that the Journalists visited press Conferences and wrote articles from press releases.

Jag har under mitt kandidatarbete gjort en praktisk studie av producentrollen på det Karlshamnsbaserade spelföretaget Black Drop Studios. I denna slutreflektion går jag igenom min egen process under utvecklingen av en spelprototyp av företagets primära produkt, plattforms-racing spelet Boingo. Under produktionen har jag som producent verkat för att effektivisera verksamheten och agerat som en resurs för teamet. Jag har haft dagliga möten och individuella samtal med medlemmarna i gruppen, samt kontinuerligt övervakat och utvärderat arbetsflödet genom det web-baserade projektledningsverktyget Redmine. Utöver min roll som producent har jag även arbetat med marknadsföring och presentation av den färdiga produkten på Game Developers Conference i San Francisco.

The aim of this thesis is to explain what actions Sweden and the international communities have been taking in terms of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in order to realize the Programme of Action from the International Conference on Population and Development in Cairo 1994. In a theoretical perspective, donor countries and multilateral organizations are seen as interacting actors involved in global development cooperation. Through applying a human rights approach I will show shortages in terms of supplies to contraception, international agreement on the issue of safe abortions and a new era that comes with new rules for aid and development cooperation. In addition, for human rights to be realized there is the feature of accountability. Without accountability, SRHR cannot be fully respected, guaranteed and protected.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att ge en inblick i elevledda utvecklingssamtal som praktik samt att återge en nyanserad och omfattande bild av denna praktik. Vår uppsats ämnar besvara följande frågeställningar:? Vad kännetecknar elevens roll som ?samtalsledare? i ett elevlett utvecklingssamtal ochhur hanterar eleven denna roll?? Vad kännetecknar förälderns roll i ett elevlett utvecklingssamtal och hur hanterarföräldern den rollen?? Hur hanteras prat om problem utifall sådana situationer uppstår?Metoden vi använt oss av är att lyssna på och transkribera för uppsatsen relevanta och intressanta delar av vårt material vilket består av inspelade elevledda utvecklingssamtal. Den analysmodell vi brukat är fallanalys. Vår analysmodell, och tillika teoretiska anknytning, utgörsäven av tillämpad Conversastion Analysis.Vårt resultat pekar på att eleven undantagsvis ?tillåts? agera samtalsledare fullt ut, utan att lärare och föräldrar erövrar denna uppgift, vilket i somliga fall leder till att eleven måste försvara sin roll.

The aim of this essay is to examine how important marketing and networking is for the meeting industry in Stockholm. The meeting industry is one of the most profitable areas of the tourism industry today and a major contributor to economic growth in Sweden. The meeting industry has grown rapidly in Sweden and Stockholm has during the last five years been one of the ten most popular congress cities in the world. This has resulted in that the city has become a strong competitor to other European cities.Stockholm International fairs are for example the largest trade fair organizer in Scandinavia and Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre is the new arena of opportunity.However the marketing and a broad network is necessary for meeting facilities if their aim is to be successful. Marketing contributes to the meeting facilities establishment and makes it well known for the potential market, while the collaborations and relationships is important for facilitating their work.

The purpose of this essay was to analyze the collapse of democracy in the Weimar Republic. This was done by analyzing some of the most turbulent crises in its history like the communists attempt to take power in 1919, the kapp-putsch of 1920, hyperinflation 1923 and the economic depression 1929-1933. The method that I used in this essay is called methodological individualism. It was an analytical framework which helped to understand the citizens view on democracy and legitimacy. The theoretical framework was based on Juan J.Linz and Seymour Martin Lipsets ideas on legitimacy and efficacy.

The primary aim of this essay is to analyse, contextualise and problematise the scientific and technological goals of android science. The starting point of this investigation is the history of automata and man?s attempts to recreate himself by technological means. Drawing on the no-tion of boundary work this essay also analyses the efforts of the proponents of android science to establish and demarcate a new interdisciplinary field. A secondary aim of the essay is to evaluate the scientific support for the uncanny valley hypothesis and to investigate how this hypothesis contributes to android science.

In this Conference, Private-public partnership, PPP, was identified as a potential way to work towards sustainability, especially as a way to emphasize a corporate responsibility commitment. Nowadays, organizations exist to satisfy the needs and interests of all their stakeholders, such as customers, markets, shareholders, as well as secondary stakeholders such as media, NGOs, and society at large. Addressing all stakeholders and working towards a sustainable business development makes PPP a potential solution, but also a source of challenges.

Detta har lett till en samhällsdebatt kring frågor om hur de skriftliga omdömena ska utformas, samt om och hur lärarna bör bedöma yngre elever. Inom pedagogisk forskning har bedömning framhållits som en viktig del av lärandet. Istället för att mäta kunskap ska bedömning gynna och skapa mening för lärandet. Skriftliga omdömen bör genom formativ bedömning bidra till tydligare information för elev och vårdnadshavarna.

Nordic Marine Sauna AB has, since 2005, designed, manufactured and sold floating saunas. Theproduct are characterised by a well thought thru and appealing design and its high quality. Thecompany is now intending to open a new business area by starting a subsidiary, NordicSubmarine Sauna AB, which will design submerged saunas. The expected customers are leisureand Conference centres as well as customers that seek an experience out of the ordinary.Due to the products technical complexity a master thesis was adverted. The task was to do aninvestigation whether such a product is technically viable.The job involved research of existing products and constructions material as well as designingthe product with CAD and FEM-programs.
