Background: Sweden is a country where vitamin D deficiency seems to be common, partly because of its geographical position, which reduces the availability of UVB radiation, but also that people avoid sunlight due to increased skin cancer risk. Research shows that vitamin D plays an important role in the prevention of many diseases such as cancer as well as autoimmune and neuropsychiatric diseases.Vitamin D is a fat soluble pre-hormone and a collective name for closely related compounds which act as hormones after undergoing a transformation in the body.Humans can utilize vitamin D through diet and produce it in the body by exposing the skin to the sun. Previous observational studies and epidemiological studies have established a hypothesis that there seems to be an association between vitamin D supplementation and reduction of depressive symptoms.Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate if vitamin D supplements may decrease depressive symptoms.Methods: This work is organized as a literature review and article search is made in the database PubMed in January 2012. Keywords used were ?vitamin D and depression? and inclusion criteria were: randomized clinical trials, be conducted on humans, written in English.

För att förstå en lidande människas verklighet är det av vikt att ta del av dennes livsvärld, samt känsla av hälsa, välbefinnande och lidande. Hur en människa påverkas av sin ätstörning är individuellt, och sättet människan påverkas av sin omgivning är således olika för alla. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att belysa hur människor med ätstörning erfar sin omgivning. Metod: Studien har en kvalitativ metodansats och baseras på tre skönlitterära böcker.

If Swedish companies are to compete with companies in low-cost countries they have to achieve a more efficient production. The purpose of Total Productivity Maintenance (TPM) is to increase the company's profitability by increasing the productivity. TPM is a method that involves all employees and aims to prevent failures in order to increase the availability of existing equipment.The aim of this paper is to evaluate the implementation process of TPM and give recommendations for the further implementation process. The conclusion and the analysis are based on a case study done at a production department at ABB Cewe-Controls facilities in Nyköping. The case study consists mainly of qualitative data from participation observations, surveys and interviews.Commitment of the management is a key factor in the implementation process of TPM.

This thesis is the result of the investigation and solution of a mechanicalproblem regarding flywheel malfunctions. A flywheel is, in short, a devicethat relies on a rotating object?s moment of inertia to store energy overshort time spans. This project is part of the development of a fourthflywheel prototype at the division for electricity at Uppsala university,which uses magnetic levitation to keep a hollow cylinder rotating at veryhigh speeds inside a vacuum chamber. Should the magnets fail however, orsome other error occur that leads to an uncontrolled state of rotation, thecylinder needs to be stabilized mechanically by a device usually referredto as ?back-up bearing?.

PRMDs står för playing/performance-related musculoskeletal disorder och är ett begrepp som förekommer bland orkestermusiker. Det innebär smärta i muskler och leder som är relaterat till musicerande och påverkar musikers prestationsförmåga. Prevalensen varierar mellan tidigare studier och kunskapsläget för Sverige är bristfälligt. Syftet med studien var att undersöka prevalensen av muskuloskeletala besvär bland medlemmarna i en svensk symfoniorkester men även variationen mellan sittande och stående arbetsställning vid musicerande samt grad av fysisk aktivitet och sambandet mellan dessa faktorer och muskuloskeletala besvär. Som en del i en större tvärsnittsstudie genomfördes en enkätstudie bland medlemmar i en svensk symfoniorkester.

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the writings of Hayashi Ichiz?, a Christian from southern Japan who on the 30th of May 1945 died while carrying out a kamikaze attack against Allied ships outside Okinawa. Hayashi?s writings, most notably his diary and some of the letters he sent to his mother, have been published posthumously by his sister in a volume called Hi nari tate nari. In this thesis, I conduct an in-depth analysis of these writings in an attempt to understand for what Hayashi died.In the two parts of the thesis, divided by two major themes in Hayashi?s writings ? faith/family and nation/emperor, I discuss his thoughts around these issues.

The aim of this thesis is to explore possible differences between public and private companies? way to manage projects. In order to analyze the managerial aspects, we have studied the project of a new payment system implemented at the public-transport organization Upplands Lokaltrafik (UL). The project enables mobile payment by text message (SMS). Most theory concerning the management of projects is developed for private companies.

Bakgrund: Fysisk aktivitet är något i princip alla människor behöver för att må bra fysiskt och mentalt. Några som är i extra stort behov av fysisk aktivitet är personer med psykisk ohälsa då de ofta också drabbas fysisk ohälsa. Bland annat beroende på att passivitet kan vara ett symtom och att en del psykofarmaka ger metabola störningar.  Syfte: Syftet var att belysa upplevelser av motion hos personer med psykisk ohälsa samt faktorer som kan vara motiverande.  Metod: En litteratursökning har genomförts för att skapa en översikt över vetenskapliga artiklar om   motiverande faktorer och upplevelser av fysisk aktivitet hos personer med psykisk ohälsa. Studien baseras på åtta kvalitativa artiklar som granskats och analyserats med influens av Willman & Stoltz (2012) samt Friberg (2012). Det vetenskapliga underlaget  är hämtat från Cinahl, psycinfo samt Pubmed och artiklarna är publicerade mellan 2000-2013.  Resultat: Dataanalysen gav tre huvudteman.

Today there are many students with behavioral and developmental disorders in schools. One of these disorders is ADHD. The medical designation ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I have chosen to research how two students with ADHD can be included in a fifth grade classroom.This research paper addresses the issues surrounding the student?s day-to-day life with a focus on the classroom.

The thesis ?Vi fixar och trixar oss fram till att hjälpa människor? focuses on social work in the field of prostitution and human trafficking in Sweden. Through semi-structured interviews with social workers in the municipalities of Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö working with persons selling and buying sex, and through discourse analysis, the author analyses the perceptions among these social workers of the relation between human rights, prostitution and human trafficking, and the social work which they conduct.The thesis concludes that although the social workers perceive prostitution and human trafficking and social work in this field as human rights related, they are not explicitly using a human rights based approach in their work.The thesis concludes that the social workers identify several aspects that infringe on the rights of their clients in relation to the human rights principles of Universality, Non-discrimination, Accountability and Rule of law and the principle of Participation and Inclusion. They portray the human rights situation of street based sellers, especially those not being Swedish citizens and those affected by human trafficking, as severe.The thesis concludes that the social workers find several obstacles (legal as well as structural) that diminish their ability to strengthen their clients? human rights situation.

ADHD är en förkortning för Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder som innebär neuro¬psykiatriska problem med hyperaktivitet, ouppmärksamhet och bristande impulskontroll. Socialstyrelsen (2002) beräknar att 3-5 procent av barn och unga lider av denna svårighet. En mindre andel av dessa får hjälp och behandling via barnpsykiatrin.Studien avser att ge en beskrivning och analys av den barnpsykiatriska icke medicinska personalens, psykologer och socionomers, sätt att arbeta och tänka kring behandlingsarbete med ADHD-barn och deras familjer. Inledningsvis försöker jag dels beskriva ADHD diagnostiskt och vilka problem det kan medföra, men också sätta in problematiken i ett sammanhang utifrån BUP:s arbetsmetoder, behandlingsforskning och behandlingserfarenheter. Jag har valt att göra en kvalitativ intervjuundersökning.

The 1990s were one of the most profitable periods for European airline companies, mainly because of development of world economy and increasing globalisation trends. However, towards the end of the decade, a global economic downturn, high oil prices and new forms of competition turned the industry towards troubled times. The European air-travel industry had to face and accept the new airline business concept, called low-cost or no-frill airlines. In these conditions, traditional airlines had to rethink their strategies and question the old business model. As a response to the competition, European traditional full-service airlines formed alliances or networks to expand the route network and to increase efficiency.
