AbstractTitle: Cancer in media from a gender perspectiveNumber of pages: 33 (49 including enclosures)Author: Emma KreüTutor: Amelie HössjerCourse: Media- and Communication science DPeriod: Spring 2007University: Division of Media and Communication, Department of Information Science, Uppsala UniversityPurpose/Aim: The aim of this thesis is to investigate if there are differences between the picture given in media of women with cancer and of men with cancer. The result is aimed to give a deeper picture of how gender is represented in media.Material/Method: The method used in this thesis is discourse analysis, applied on twenty articles which contained personal interviews with women and men who have or have had breast or prostate cancer. Ten of the articles contain interviews with women and ten interviews with men. The articles were selected from criteria based on where and when they were published. They were picked from the two largest papers in Sweden, Dagens Nyheter (DN) and Aftonbladet (AF), ten from each paper, of which five were interviews with women and five with men.

My thesis is based on a qualitative study. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether the educationalist at an especially chosen school in Stockholm promotes the students multicultural background in the education or not.This is due to the fact that the Swedish school to a considerable degree reflects the multicultural Swedish society. The socio-cultural starting point is when people come together and meet. The language is the tool of the socio-culture and it is the dialogue, discussion and sympathetic understanding that makes people meet.The cultural concept is diffuse and very wide. Everyone has their own definition of it.

SammanfattningBakgrund: Prostatacancer är den mest förekommande cancerformen hos män i Sverige, vilket innebär att det finns många närstående till män med prostatacancer i sjukvården. Sjuksköterskor behöver därför kunna bistå med hjälp och stöd under sjukdomstiden. Syfte: Att beskriva närståendes erfarenheter av att leva med en partner som drabbats av prostatacancer. Metod: En litteraturöversikt baserad på kvalitativ data med induktiv ansats valdes. Resultatet baserades på elva originalartiklar som har kvalitetsgranskats samt analyserats utifrån Fribergs femstegsmodell. Resultat: Dataanalysen genererade fyra huvudkategorier. I En gemensam resa framkom det att beslut var ett delat ansvar och att få och ge stöd var av stor vikt. I Att försöka kontrollera vardagen beskrivs de känslomässiga reaktioner som fanns hos närstående samt deras förmåga att hantera vardagen.

Bakgrund: Mellan 20000 och 25000 personer beräknas leva med stomi i Sverige. Dessa patienter har olika bakgrundsproblematik där tarm-och urinblåsecancer samt inflammatoriska tarm-sjukdomar är vanligast förekommande. En stomi leder till förlorad kontroll över eliminationen, förändrad kroppsuppfattning och generellt även till fysisk sexuell dysfunktion. Sexualitet är en central del i människans liv och människan har behov av att uttrycka sig sexuellt genom hela livet oberoende av sjukdom. Dock har det visat sig att sjuksköterskan pratar om sexualitet i allt för liten utsträckning.

Fobi utgör ett område som varit anmärkningsvärt frånvarande inom psykodynamisk forskning. Denna studie syftar till att skapa en fördjupad förståelse för uppkomst av och svårigheter kopplade till fobi, samt hur psykodynamisk behandling av fobi bedrivs. Semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med tio terapeuter. Materialet analyserades utifrån grundad teori (GT). Resultatet visade att självhävdelse var en central aspekt för att förstå uppkomst och svårigheter samt behandling av patienter med fobi, då svårigheter att uttrycka ilska och att visa den egna personen utifrån autentiska känslor och behov var genomgående teman.

The aim of my study is to investigate how last year students in upper secondary schoolunderstand certain mathematical concepts, in particular the unit circle and its trigonometry.I have used intentional analysis to interpret student?s actions when they solve certain tasks onthe basis of a cognitive, situated and cultural context.Interviews with four university teachers in mathematics about the unit circle, trigonometry,and mathematical understanding, serve both as background for the study and as basis for adiscussion, where I relate students understanding to what the teachers want new students toknow about these concepts when they begin university studies in mathematics.The students were arranged in three groups with three students in each group. Each group waspresented with two tasks, one in which they were asked to calculate the cosine values for onepointed, one blunt and one straight angle, each located in a separate triangle. They were alsoasked to decide whether the points (0,71; 0,71) and d (1 2 , 3 2 ) are located on the unit circleor not.My conclusion is that students mainly have an operational conception of the unit circle andtrigonometry. The lack of structural conceptions result in difficulties in seeing connectionsbetween the concepts in unfamiliar situations.

Fairy tales are commonly considered to be both timeless and classless. Since the 17th century, when most of the tales we have access to today were first collected and published, the idea that fairy tales are part of an oral tradition, and therefore more or less uninfluenced by academic and literary trends, have been dominant amongst researchers, critics and readers. This idea needs to be revaluated. Even if the tales might have their roots in an oral tradition the history of the fairy tale ?is not primarily a history of oral transmission, but rather a history of print?, as Elizabeth Wanning Harries puts it (Wanning Harries, 2001:4).

This thesis examines the municipalities of Västra Götaland and the way they are prepared for crisis communication towards people with a foreign background. Over the past years there have been several studies that have examined the issue of crisis communications towards minorities but these are often focused on the target group. In this study, I focus on the authorities' actions. The theoretical approach is primarily an intersectional one and in this way the thesis is centred on the creation of different categories, the relationship between these categories and the possibilities working with these at the municipalities.On behalf of Region Västra Götaland, this investigation began with a survey that went out to the communications officers in charge of the crisis communication in each municipality. The ambition was to clarify the preparedness of each one and show how they relate to one another.

Denna studie kom till efter att RFSU hade börjat arbeta med frågor om sadomasochism, och efter att Socialstyrelsen tog bort sadomasochism ur sin diagnosmanual. Syftet med studien är att ta reda på vilka diskurser som används när media talar om sadomasochism.Queerteori är det teoretiska fundamentet i studien. Jag utgår även från Michel Foucaults teorier. Min metod är foucauldiansk genealogisk diskursanalys. Analysmaterialet består av 33 tryckta artiklar från svenska dags- och kvällstidningar.Resultatet visar att talet om sadomasochism i media följer olika diskurser.

Due to human influences on the climate an increase in Earth's mean temperature is today an accepted conception. With a rising temperature discussions have started how the climate in an area will change in the future. Equally interesting and important is it also to study the precipitation in an area. Precipitation is the factor, next to temperature, that affects most how a climate in an area looks like and feels. Since precipitation is connected to evaporation the latter parameter is also of interest to study.

This is a study of the trade union journal for female blue collar women in Sweden, Arbetets Kvinnor, between 1927 and 1931. The purpose is to examine how a female trade union activist's constructs collective identity by those notions of social class, sex, and moral values that are articulated in the journal. The main theoretical basis is Alberto Melucci's analysis where he argues that a collective identity in social movements is made in an interaction between individuals, where the action possibilities and limits are defined. Another purpose is how the female blue collar worker's resistance and/or adaption to the male hegemonic trade union and the bourgeoisie hegemonic society are presented. The essay shows how the collective identity is made of both historical and contemporary images of the working class women as workers and trade union activists.

Den teoretiska utgångspunkten för denna litteraturöversikt var Joyce Travelbees omvårdnadsteorier med fokus på kommunikation. Travelbee menar att det är sjuksköterskans ansvar att lyfta kommunikation om hälsa med patienten. I litteraturen framkom att det är sjuksköterskors ansvar att kommunicera om sexualitet med patienter men att denna uppgift inte alltid utförs. Syftet var att kartlägga hinder för sjuksköterskor att kommunicera med patienter om sexualitet. Uppsatsen har skrivits som en litteraturöversikt, vilken ger en överblick över den aktuella kunskapen inom området.

Ett tillfredssta?llande sexliv a?r starkt korrelerat till psykosocialt- och fysiskt va?lbefinnande.

Bakgrund: Sexualiteten är en central del av att vara människa och följer människan genom hela livet. En fungerande sexualitet är är en viktigdel i livskvaliteten. Att drabbas av bröstcacner innebär ofta stor förändring och livet kan upplevas vara i kaos. Eftersom bröst kopplas samman med kvinnlighet, skönhet, och sexualitet påverkar bröstcancer inte sällan kvinnornas sexuella hälsa. Syfte: Syftet med denna litteraturbaserade studie var att beskriva hur kvinnor upplever sin sexualitet efter att ha drabbats av bröstcancer.
