Stockholm is constantly growing and changing. Despite this, for various reasons, it is difficult to execute large building projects. With starting-point in decision making theories we have tried to investigate these difficulties. More specifically we have chosen to study why it has not been possible to rebuilt Slussen in Stockholm. To help us structure our study we have based our research on another large comparable building project, the Globen City project.

This masters thesis concerns the professional knowledge of the librarian. It is a comparative study where two major ma-gazines in library press, Biblioteksbladet and DIK-forum, is compared between the years 1990-2000, in relation to the theories of professionalization and the associations to the union. The study focus on showing the differences and similarities between the two magazines according to how they interact from the subjects education, wages and status. The study is conducted from two questions: - Which are the central differences and similarities in the description of the librarian profession in the two magazines, from the perspectives of wage, status and education? - In what way do the two magazines reflect the theories of professionalization? To give a wider perspective of the librarian profession, there is also a historical chapter with an explanation to the making of the librarian profession..

This essay deals with the principle of surprise warfare and its development as well as the adaptation of military action that had to be made to surprise the opponent in the modern era.The concept of surprise is divided into its components in order to clarify what is required to implement a surprising maneuver, to understand the complex concept and form a theoretical framework for gathering facts in the case study.Development and adaption are demonstrated by a comparative case study where Pearl Harbor illustrates an example of historical surprise and Operation Desert Storm illustrates a modern surprise. The product will then be analyzed in order to detect the development and how military conduct is forced to adapt in order to carry out a surprising maneuver. Terrorism. A word that makes you think about different situations throughout the last decade that has passed. However, in this particular thesis the purpose is to examine both national and international terrorism from a Clausewitzian theory. The main point is to examine whether any of these types of terrorisms can fit in to this theory and as examples in this study are the terrorist organizations ETA and al-Qaida. The questions to be answered in this paper are if their aims can be explained as political and how far are they ready to go to have their way? Furthermore, the reason for this paper is to find an understanding for why the terrorist organizations act as they do.The result of this comparative study is that both terrorist organizations fit in to the theory because their goals can be seen as political and therefore can their aims justify their actions.

This paper is supposed to get an answer to how teenagers in a municipality in Kalmar Län in Sweden think about their individual role in a community. The essay is a comparative investigation at how age can affect teenagers's view at the community, based on contractualistic approach. The background issue clarifies the objectives and guidelines how the schools should work with the social norms and values. The method for this studie is a quantitative survey in which students in two different classes are compared. The method for comparing takes place using the theoretical position, which is based on the individual's social maturity in the Swedish society.

This study analyzes how the Swedish climate policy has changed during the years 1990-2008. Thisis done through a comparative analysis of three climate bills that were developed during this period.With a constructivist approach, and theories about discursive indicators and discursive fields,discursive changes in the bills' content are identified. The results show that changes have occurredin how the problem is described, how the issue is framed, which problem solutions that areadvocated, which legitimizing arguments and key concepts that are used and the extent of theknowledge that the bills are based upon. The conclusions drawn from the results describe adiscursive change between the bills in the form of a shift from a discourse that in a greater extentadvocates active policy responses, based on ethical arguments about fairness towards othercountries and caution towards the environment, to a discourse that more often favor market actionsbased on arguments about the economic viability of Sweden..

Purpose of this study is to investigate whether BBIC had an effect on the interaction between social services and schools. To find this out, a comparative study carried out between two municipalities in southern Sweden who has worked with the BBIC system different lengths of time. The empirical data is based on six qualitative interviews with heads of unit in social services, principals in secondary schools, and social workers who work with children- and youth investigations. The theoretical framework consists of Bronfenbrenners Ecology model, systems theory as organizational theory and the theory of autopoiesis, and Danermark model of collaboration. The results of the survey show that respondents do not find that their inter-organizational collaboration has been significantly affected by the implementation of BBIC, but that BBIC provides a good basis for collaboration due to the logic and structure of the system..

In the Korean artist Hyun-Jin Kwak's ongoing project Girls in Uniform she portrays events and moments that transgress the boundaries between the ordinary and the unknown. In her photographs there are frequently ambiguous and cinematic narratives. The pictures are carefully orchestrated and constructed, but they are not spectacular. Kwak's imagery is relatively unexplored. This thesis implements a comparative image analysis of eight of Hyun-Jin Kwak's works, in order to investigate and interpret her imagery.

I denna uppsats har jag velat undersöka om de prosodiska skillnaderna mellan svenskan och franskan kan förklara de avvikelser från den franska normen som återfinns hos nästan alla svenska inlärare av franska, i det närmaste oberoende av hur länge man har studerat språket. Jag ville studera om skillnaderna kunde härledas till olikheterna mellan de båda rytmiska språktyperna stress-timing och syllable-timing, där svenskan anses tillhöra den förra och franskan den senare. I hur stor utsträckning påverkar modersmålet inlärning och produktion av ett andraspråk? Den undersökning jag har gjort syftade till att se om de rytmiska olikheterna mellan svenskan och franskan har märkbara effekter på hur betoning realiseras. Förhoppningen var att skillnaderna skulle vara särskilt påtagliga vid just betoning beroende på de skiljande realiseringssätten i franskan och svenskan.

 Variationer i svensk verbböjning: En korpusundersökning (Fredrik Smeds, D-uppsats i Svenska språket, Karlstads universitet, Institutionen för kultur och kommunikation, Avdelningen för språk 2008). I uppsatsen undersöks svensk verbböjningsvariation från första hälften av 1800-talet till våra dagar dels genom studier av facklitteratur, ordböcker och ordlistor från skilda tider, dels genom att studera korpusar med skönlitteratur och brev skrivna av August Strindberg, äldre och yngre romaner samt dagstidningar från 1965?2004. De äldre romanerna är skrivna från första halvan av 1800-talet till första halvan av 1900-talet, och de yngre runt 1980. Materialet tillhandahölls av Språkdata vid Göteborgs universitet och omfattar ca 126 miljoner ord.

Syftet med uppsatsen har främst varit att undersöka hur svensklärare för år 9 motiverar litteraturläsning för sina elever samt att studera var produktionen av legitimeringsgrunderna för litteraturläsning finns. Undersökningen visar att flera forskare ställer sig kritiska till att attribuera litteraturläsningen en självklar nytta. Tre av de fyra tillfrågade lärarna i undersökningen anser dock att det är självklart att man ska läsa litteratur i skolan och har stor tilltro till ?den goda litteraturen?. Undersökningen visar också att nya forskningsrön kring legitimeringarna inte når lärarna i den takt som de produceras bland forskare och kritiker och en teori är att lärarna hade behövt mer fortbildning för att bättre kunna utveckla svenskämnet..

Detta examensarbete är en kvalitativ studie med kvantitativa inslag. Studien behandlar tre studenters språkinlärning under ett utbytesår i Frankrike. De tre studenterna kommer ursprungligen från Sverige, USA och Tyskland, och franska är således ett främmande språk för alla tre. Uppsatsens syfte är främst att genom observationer och intervjuer kartlägga studenternas inlärningsstrategier, det vill säga hur de går tillväga för att lära sig franska. Jag intervjuade studenterna tre gånger under deras vistelse i Frankrike.

Genom att undersöka aspekterna kongruensböjning av adjektiv efter naturligt genus, yrkestitlar och generisk användning av han vill jag med denna uppsats utreda om svenskan är på väg mot könsneutralitet under en tidsperiod på cirka 40 år. Mer specifikt kan sägas att jag med mina undersökningar ville kontrollera om kongruensböjning av adjektiv efter naturligt genus verkar avta, om yrkestitlar i mindre omfattning än tidigare inkluderar kön och om generisk användning av han ser ut att ersättas av den i svenska lagtexter.Jag har använt mig av korpusar som finns att tillgå på Språkbanken på Göteborgs universitets hemsida för mina undersökningar, där materialet i den äldsta korpusen är från 1965.Min hypotes är att svenskan är på väg mot könsneutralitet, vilket i stort sett verkar stämma överrens med mina resultat. Det jag har fått fram för kongruensböjning av adjektiv efter naturligt genus är ändelsen ?a används allt oftare, även i kombination med maskulinum, medan bruket av ändelsen ?e verkar minska. För yrkestitlar visar mina undersökningar att det ursprungligen "inbyggda" könet i stort sett blir mindre betydande.
