This paper will portray the differences and similarities that exist between students whoattended the Swedish School of Library and Information Science in Borås.The study is based upon quantitative information gathered from a survey which wasdistributed to first-year students in Borås in the auturnn term 1994. A total of 77 studentsresponded to the survey.We also do a comparative study of the students at all the library programs in Sweden.This is partially based on the findings by a thesis prior to this one by the authorsSvalstedt and Österdahl.We found that the students in Borås differ mainly in their personal histories and backgrounds.When it comes to their attitudes towards the profession and educationalmatters they are similar. Further we found the same to be true in our comparison of thelibrary programs in total..

Detta arbetes syfte har varit att beskriva och utvärdera"Schyst språk-Inget bråk"projektet som genomfördes på Solhagaskolan i Ryd, Linköping under läsåret 1998-99. Det startades p.g.a. att elevernas språk och beteende inte gick att tolerera längre och för att förbättra stämningen på skolan. Man hade en arbetsgrupp bestående av tre ur personalen som också var de ansvariga. Dessa tre tog kontakt med olika institutioner i närsamhället, som bildade en samverkansgrupp, för att alla som träffar barnen skulle vara enade mot samma mål.

The purpose of this study was to examine the use of manipulative materials in mathematics education with the main focus on grades 4 to 6. With the use of a phenomenological approach all the aspects of this phenomenon was examined. Qualitative interviews, participant observations and comparative content analysis of textbooks has been conducted to investigate the use of manipulative materials in mathematics education. The results indicates that the teachers that were interviewed possesses good knowledge of this teaching method. However these teachers struggled to find time to put this method into practice and there was not enough teachers to attend these classes.

Denna studie har flera, men sammanhängande, syften. För det första är syftet att undersöka om och i så fall varför lärare i förskoleklasser och i år ett till tre i grundskolan medvetet arbetar med sina elevers språkutveckling. För det andra är syftet att belysa hur lärarna i fråga arbetar, om förskolans och grundskolans lärare skiljer sig åt beträffande arbets- och förhållningssätt samt om och i så fall hur lärarna har förändrat sitt arbete över tid. Det visar sig att de flesta av lärarna i undersökningen ofta och medvetet arbetar med sina elevers språkutveckling. Vidare visar det sig att det språkutvecklande arbetet ofta motiveras av att lärarna vill ge eleverna redskap för en eller flera av kategorierna kommunikation, tänkande, lärande och känslobearbetning.

Detta examensarbete uppmärksammar andraspråkselevers svårigheter med att ta till sig undervisningsinnehållet på ett språk de ännu inte behärskar till fullo samt vad man som lärare kan göra för att undervisningen ska fungera trots språkliga begränsningar. Arbetet består av en litteraturgenomgång och en intervjuundersökning. Litteraturgenomgången redogör dels för forskning kring andraspråkselevers språkliga förutsättningar och hur undervisning för andraspråkselever bör utformas, dels för synpunkter från lärare med erfarenhet av att undervisa andraspråkselever. Här framkommer bl.a. att en bristande ordförståelse utgör det största hindret för förståelsen av ämnesundervisningen och att elever som lär sig ett andraspråk i skolåldern således snabbt måste utveckla ett stort ordförråd.

This study examines imagined boundaries between Swedes and non-Swedes. Rather than using pre-determined definitions as a starting point, the attempt is to examine the discursive construction of difference. The purpose is not to study the portrayal of immigrants per se but to examine how the ?immigrant-ness? is constructed. The purpose of this report is to document the experiments carried out, methods used and results gained during research into how the silicon content of an aluminium alloy affects the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE).The goal of this paper is to better understand and to find a relation between silicon content and the coefficient of thermal expansion.Experiments were carried out using carefully prepared samples of Al Si alloys (0, 7, 10 and 20% Si content). Using these alloys, the CTE could be measured using a dilatometer.Comparative analysis carried out could map the effects of silicon content on the coefficient of thermal expansion and an equation was created.
