As a result of this negative effects organisations have to counteract and find new solutions and systems to facilitate and assist leaders in their work. A popular method for leadership development has come to show both in research and in practice, especially in recent years, this popular method is known as mentoring. This form of leadership development is often applied in so called mentoring programs.

Due to poorly functioning local and regional markets, the smallholders in San Francisco, Petén, were dependent on intermediaries that took advantage of the smallholder?s distance to markets. In an attempt to secure income and strengthen their bargaining position, 189 smallholders joined forces through the creation of a social smallholder network, held together by a community based enterprise. This enterprise was initiated in 2011 with the help of government incentive programmes and NGOs that within a few years will leave the enterprise to auto regime. This study treats the sustainability of a community forest based enterprise, Chachaklum, in northern Guatemala. The study identifies factors that enable smallholders to organize themselves in order to obtain business practices that support an improved standard of living.

Den svenska skolan har genomgått stora förändringar, samhället ställer andra krav på dagens unga och internationella mätningar visar att svenska elever presterar sämre i skolan. Forskning har visat på att icke-kognitiva kunskaper spelar stor roll för framtidsutvecklingen samt för utvecklingen av kognitiva kunskaper. Vad är skolans uppdrag för att utveckla barn och ungas icke-kognitiva kunskaper? Genom en kvalitativ innehållsanalys granskas Skollagen, grundskolans läroplan och FN:s barnkonvention, med fokus på skolans uppdrag för barn och ungdomars utveckling av icke-kognitiva kunskaper, ungas rättigheter till en trygg skolmiljö och möjlighet till socialisering samt hur dokumenten fördelar ansvaret mellan skolan respektive hemmet i barnets utveckling. Studien har också granskat utbildningsplanen för grundskollärarutbildningen på Högskolan Väst för att klargöra lärares kunskapsområde och analyserat hur en socialpedagogisk referensram kan komplettera lärare i ovanstående ansvar och uppdrag i förhållande till hemmet.

A growing need to strengthen ones position on the market, even as a city in competition with other cities, has resulted in an increasing number of municipalities developing brand platforms. When the city of Umeå developed their platform, they identified decision makers and investors as one of four important target groups.The aim of this study is to explore the portrayed image of the city of Umeå in two Swedish trade journals which addresses the specific target group decition makers and investors in both public and private sector. The aim is also to compare the image of Umeå in the two papers, to the ambition of the municipality, expressed in the brand platform.In order to make the observations as firmly established as possible, the method of the study is a combination of a quantitative content analysis and a qualitative text analysis. The study draws on the theories of Eli Avraham and Philip Kotler, concerning how to improve city images and how to market a specific city among others. The study shows that the city of Umeå in large extent is portrayed in accordance to the ambition which the municipality expressed in the brand platform.Umeå is displayed as an expanding city.

SammanfattningSyfte och frågeställningarSyftet med studien är att undersöka vilka faktorer som tidigare viktminskningskunder på Itrim upplever vara avgörande för att lyckas med en varaktig beteendeförändring inom kost och motion. Syftet besvarades utefter följande frågeställningar:Vilka personliga faktorer upplevs vara avgörande vid en varaktig beteendeförändring?Vilka sociala faktorer upplevs vara avgörande vid en varaktig beteendeförändring?Vilka miljömässiga faktorer upplevs vara avgörande vid en varaktig beteendeförändring?MetodValet att göra en kvalitativ intervjustudie grundar sig på att det är deltagarnas subjektiva upplevelser som anses relevanta för att besvara studiens syfte och frågeställningar. Då deras upplevelser granskas utifrån Social Cognitive Theory har studien en deduktiv ansats. Sju kvinnor intervjuades och alla är fortfarande kunder hos Itrim, som motionskunder.

Functioning reproductive organs are essential for the survival of a species. The reproductive system is very sensitive to exposure of chemical substances of anthropogenic origin. Humans release great amounts of chemical substances to the environment by our means of life and these substances have been proved to have a negative effect on the reproductive ability of different vertebral classes. In the polar bear (Ursus maritimus) a declined reproductive ability as an effect of decreased testosterone levels and decreased testicular size has been connected to the presence of high levels of organohalogenic compounds like PCBs. Although the Swedish brown bear (Ursus arctos) is not as carnivorous as its close relative the polar bear it is still exposed to environmental.

Media has a big actuating power over the public opinion. The image of reality that media choose to reproduce will affect the recipient view of reality. The case about Thomas Quick and its associated news coverage has been used as an example to illustrate the problematization regarding media imag-es and media framing attempt. The purpose of this essay was to illuminate how daily and evening newspapers works with various framing methods.The theoretical framework for this essay will discuss the media framing theory and its ramification attribute framing theory. This laid the foundation for the research question.

Live exports of animals began during the late 19th century and are nowadays a valuable alternative to the slaughter industry in Australia. About four million sheep and half a million to one million cattle are exported annually from Australia to the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Most of these animals are exported for slaughter, but some cattle are exported with the purpose of breeding. One factor that has been the driving force for the live export industry is that countries through tariffs and other barriers have favored the import of live animals rather than the import of meat.The export means that animals with a great cognitive ability are exposed to a long chain of production from the farm to the market and there are many factors that can affect the welfare of the animals in a negative way. Some of the most serious are high temperatures and a high stocking density, although seasickness, noises and handling can also have a negative impact on the welfare of animals.

Demens är en progredierande sjukdom som påverkar personens aktivitetsförmåga negativt. I tidigare undersökningar framkommer ett behov av att öka kunskapen om kognitiva hjälpmedel inom demensvården. Tekniska framsteg har öppnat nya möjligheter för personer med kognitiva funktionsnedsättningar.

Att säkert navigera ett fartyg in till eller ut från en hamn är ett av de svårare momenten inom sjöfarten. För att underlätta uppgiften har man under lång tid använt sig av lotsar ? erfarna sjömän med hög grad av lokalkännedom som assisterar fartygets ordinarie besättning med navigering och andra uppgifter relaterade till en säker passage genom farleden och hamnen.Ny teknik, tillsammans med ekonomiska och säkerhetsmässiga överväganden, har lett fram till frågan om det i någon mån är möjligt att bedriva lotsning från andra platser än från fartyget självt, s.k. fjärrlotsning. Att överföra lotsningsfunktioner från en fartygsbrygga till ett landbaserat kontrollrum är emellertid ingen trivial fråga.

Fysisk aktivitet i undervisningen och dess inverkan på elevers kognitiva förmågor upplever vi som ett väsentligt inslag i grundskolans tidigare år. Syftet med studien har varit att undersöka omfattningen av lärares uppfattningar kring denna inverkan samt deras åsikter kring detta arbetssätt och dess effekter. Metoden som använts har varit kvantitativ med en kvalitativ del och har utgått från en enkät med såväl kvantitativa som kvalitativa frågor. Enkäten delades ut till lärare i nio olika grundskolor i två kommuner i Västra Götalands län. Genom enkäten har vi undersökt utbredningen av lärarnas åsikter kring fysisk aktivitet i undervisningen och även gett dem utrymme att motivera och förklara sina åsikter.Resultatet av studien visar att majoriteten av lärarna anser att fysisk aktivitet i undervisningen har en positiv inverkan på elevers kognitiva förmågor såsom koncentration, minne och lärande.

Towards the end of the 1960s, the credit financed purchase was well established in Sweden. The Swedish households were able to purchase goods, which had been considered unnecessary, or even luxurious, in the past. On the other hand, effective means to handle the increasing amount of debt and potential debtors were introduced; credit rating was registered, trade with insecure claims increased and if debtors could not fulfil their obligations, the creditors often used harsh or undue methods. By introducing Inkassolagen (1974:182), the legislator hoped to regulate the debt recovery process and ensure the fair treatment of debtors. The legislator also introduced liability for damages caused by a creditor in the collection process.

Syftet med föreliggande studie var att undersöka läsförmåga hos yngre elever med eller utan autismspektrumtillstånd. Sammanlagt deltog 72 elever i studien; 30 i årskurs 3, 31 i årskurs 5 samt 11 i årskurs 5 med Aspergers syndrom/högfungerande autism. Tre texter med tillhörande fakta- och inferensfrågor (Bishop & Adams, 1992) presenterades på tre olika sätt; uppläst, tyst läsning och tyst läsning med textstöd vid efterföljande frågor. I föreliggande studie beaktades även andra variabler i relation till läsförståelse; ordavkodningsförmåga, verbalt arbetsminne, Theory of Mind samt ordförråd. Utgångspunkten för metoden var en tidigare magisteruppsats i logopedi vid Linköpings Universitet av Nyström och Söderqvist (2013).
