Urban building vid HornsbruksgatanProjektet handlar om att aktivera bergsbranten längs Hornsbruksgatan på Södermalm i Stockholm och samtidigt skapa en länk mellan gatan och Högalidsparken utan att isolera dem ytterligare från varandra.Det är ett förslag på en Urban building, en city building, med både privata och publika ytor. Den innehåller bostäder, lokaler för uthyrning till kontor, butiker och restauranger samt uterum och parkeringsplatser.Byggnaden har sin framsida mot gatan och ljus släpps in enbart från ett håll. The purpose of this essay is on the one hand to study Sub-Saharan Africa from a comparative perspective to analyze different explanations to democratization and on the other hand to compare the democratization of the most interesting cases found. To fulfil the purpose, the essay is divided into a quantitative and a qualitative part. The quantitative part starts from four different theories of democratization and thus has a deductive theory testing approach. We intend to use four theories: the modernization theory, the theory of stable institutions as a prerequisite for democratization, political culture and ethnic diversity as an obstacle for democratization, to test how they correspond with the democratic situation in Africa, and at the same time find deviant cases. The second part of the study takes its start from an inductive perspective and examines institutions and citizens of the deviant cases.

Literature is an important part of the daily activity in preschool and it is also a powerful tool for reinforcing different norms.The purpose of this study is to explore, through qualitative interviews, for what purpose pedagogues in preschool use literature in their daily activity and what needs these pedagogues see for non-heteronormativity literature. The study also relates the needs that pedagogues see with the basic values presented in the Swedish National Curriculum for preschool.Literature is used in preschool for a wide range of purposes including; enriching the language, getting familiarized with the written language, show diversity, reinforce norms on how to be a good friend, as a starting-point for discussion, working with a theme or to have a fun time.The needs that the pedagogues see for non-heteronormativity literature can be divided in to three categories namely there is always a need, there is only a need when somebody requires that kind of literature to identify themselves with or there is only a need when somebody is being discriminated because of not belonging to the heteronorm.The need for non-heteronormativity literature being there always corresponds with the basic values in the Swedish National Curriculum for preschool and the recommendation that the basic values are visible in the daily activity of the preschool. The other needs doesn?t correspond with this, but it matches other parts of the Swedish National Curriculum for preschool..

This thesis is based on a conversation about gender identity and the pronoun hen in an episode of the radio programme Tendens on Swedish public radio, P1. The participants of the conversation are a scholar and a journalist/show-host. The goal of the research has been to analyse how the conversation is constructed from its context and which topics that occur. The goal of the research has also been to analyse how the participants of the conversation position themselves and how the conversation composes and re-composes norms and values regarding gender identity in society. Critical discourse analysis, completed by Conversation analysis has been the theoretical and methodological approach.

The aim of this study is to examine the existence of norms in three Spanish textbooks intended for upper secondary school in Sweden. One category of norms, gender norms, is selected for analysis. The focus of the analysis is on how gender norms are represented in the textbooks. The concept of gender also includes - in addition to the relation between man och woman - ethnicity, sexuality and disability. The three analysed textbooks are Caminando 3, Vistas 3 and El Sur paso 3.

This study has analyzed particel size distribution and needle content in chipped logging residuals (branches and tops) delivered to the district heating plant Ryaverket in city of Borås, Sweden. Two fuel assortments has been analyzed: Chipped logging residuals from pure softwood and from mixed fuel (connifers and broadleaves). The samples has been sieved at Linneaus University laboratory.The study of particle sizes indicates that only 53,2 % of delivered fuel is within the fuels specification (7? 45 mm). The aim of this study was to examine what impact restored and constructed pounds and wetlands have on waterfowls in the area of Linköping. The birdlife in five constructed wetlands werechosen to investigate if specific factors like age, size and vegetation affected the avian diversity in wetlands. Also, extra focus has been given to the threatened Horned Grebe (Podiceps Auritus), breeding in the studied area. The results showed that the number of species as well as individuals of waterfowl and Horned Grebe changed over time in what might be a result of succession in the wetlands. Comparing the number of birds to the size of the wetlands showed a clear correlation. Larger areas inhabited greater numbers of species and individuals.

This thesis is a study over changes and similarities of people's activities in Berzelii park, with focus on the second half of the 19th century and present time. As one of the oldest public parks in Stockholm, Berzelii park has been a place for outdoor activity for more than a hundred years. During that time both the park and the society have undergone changes, but people are still using this green area in the city centre in a similar way as generations before have done. It is still a place for social gathering and during the summer month the park invite for optional and social activities such as a pause in the sun and pic-nic with friends. The purpose of the study is to contribute knowledge about the representation of fiction authors who have written in languages other than Swedish in educational school books within the Swedish subject. This is done in relation to the school's promotion of cultural diversity, a globalized world and to the Swedish curriculum. The study is a combination of a qualitative and a quantitative analysis that takes its starting point in six educational books for the courses Swedish 1 and 2. The analysis shows that all study materials include a broad representation of authorships from Europe and the USA. The selection of authors from other parts of the world is, however, limited.
