Bakgrund: När ett barn diagnostiseras med cancer förändras livet för hela familjen. Fokus på det sjuka barnet gör att syskon lätt glöms bort. Därför är det viktigt att sjuksköterskan verkar stödjande för syskon och familjen som helhet och tillgodoser de behov som uppkommer i situationen. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva specifika behov hos syskon till cancersjuka barn. Metod: Studien utformades som en litteraturöversikt där tio artiklar med kvalitativ ansats inkluderades.

Cancer är en av vår tids absolut största sjukdomar och varje år insjuknar drygt 55 000 människor i Sverige. Risken att drabbas är ungefär lika stor hos kvinnor som hos män, men om man ser bara till bröstcancer så får en kvinna i timman besked om att hon har drabbats av cancer. Den forskning som finns idag belyser på ett väldigt generaliserande sätt kvinnors reaktioner i samband med sina cancerdiagnoser. Majoriteten av studierna fokuserar på tiden under, alternativt efter själva behandlingen och i de resultat som presenteras så belyses sällan den känslomässiga process som äger rum hos kvinnorna vid det absolut första diagnostiseringstillfället. Syftet med denna studie är att genom att göra en kvalitativ innehållsanalys baserad på narrativa berättelser, kunna undersöka kvinnors omedelbara upplevelser i samband med att de får sitt cancerbesked.

To be able to give optimal care to patients in small animal hospitals, we have to have knowledge about how to prevent the spread of infection. An important part in this is hand hygiene routines. We have to clean hands whenever they are visibly dirty, and disinfect them regularly in between. Another important part is the cleaning and disinfection of the environment in the clinic, and also the cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of medical instruments. Other important parts are isolation of patients with known infections, to wear clothes with short sleeves and to wash them at least once daily, to wear gloves, having short nails and not wearing jewelry when working.

Children are a group of patients that require special knowledge from the anesthesia staff, both general and specific. Theoretical knowledge and practical experience is necessary to adequately care for the child as it anatomically, physiologically and mentally may differ from adult patients.A growing problem in the pediatric population is overweight and obesity. From a stagnation in the early 2000s the prevalence of overweight and obesity among children in the world are again increasing.The purpose of this study was to examine peri-operative care of overweight and obese children.Systematic searches were done in PubMed, CINAHL and Scopus. After the quality audit according to SBU, twelve articles were included for analysis.Results suggest that overweight and obese children have a higher risk of respiratory peri-operative complications. The risk of hospital admission after outpatient surgery was also greater in this group as well as higher costs for health care.Overweight and obese children are complex subjects with more frequent peri-operative risk factors than normal-weight children.

Research shows that people with burnout experience a high degree of impairments in a range of cognitive functions including memory, attention and concentration. The overall aim of the present study is to investigate whether there is a correlation between subjective estimates of cognition and cognitive performance with objective tests in people with burnout with a focus on working memory and executive functions. Three specific questions were addressed; First, what cognitive problems are described and to what degree? Second, is the performance of executive and working memory tests related to self-reported cognitive problems? Third, are the self-reported cognitive problems related to measures of psychological distress? The study included 77 patients, 65 women and 12 men, with a mean age of 43.48 years. The results show that patients with burnout perceive themselves as having significantly impaired cognition in everyday life, which is clearly evident on the basis of the self-assessment forms PRMQ and CFQ.

Bakgrund: Fatigue är ett cancerrelaterat symtom och drabbar ca 61- 100 % av cancer patienterna. Det är en långdragen trötthet som gör det svårt för de drabbade att leva ett normalt liv. Syftet med arbetet var att belysa cancerrelaterad fatigue samt se hur patienter anpassar sig till att leva med detta cancerrelaterade symtom. Metod: En litteraturöversikt genomfördes, med artikelsökning i databaserna PubMed och Cinahl. Innehållsanalys gjordes på funna artiklar, totalt inkluderades 14 artiklar i resultatet.

There are several treatment methods that are used by physiotherapists to treat migraine and tension type-headache (TTH). The effects of these methods have been evaluated in previous studies. However, there are few studies evaluating headache patients own perception of the treatment. The purpose of this study was both to examine the patient?s perception of the physiotherapy headache treatment and to examine if the treatment had effect on their quality of life.

Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder (ANSD) is a collective term for a specific form of hearing loss within a heterogeneous population of patients with mutual audiological test-profile. Cochlear implantation in children with ANSD has been found to result in good outcomes. Previous research, however, has shown the existence of a subgroup of children with ANSD who do not benefit from cochlear implantation but instead are in need of alternative methods of communication. The aim of this literature review was to examine the possibilities to predict outcomes of cochlear implantation in children with ANSD by pre-, intra- or postoperative examinations/measurements and thereby evaluate in which cases cochlear implantation is an appropriate intervention within this group of patients. The material consisted of 10 scientific papers published between 2007-2014.

Att bli kallad till en screening kan uppfattas som ett hot eller en trygghet för kvinnorna. Hur kvinnan uppfattar sin situation kan bero på den kunskap hon har angående screening. Syftet med studien var att beskriva kvinnors uppfattning av screening såsom gynekologisk hälsokontroll och mammografi. Studien har genomförts som en litteraturstudie med hjälp av Granheim och Lundmans metod för kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Det är inte alltid så att screeningen mynnar i ett entydigt negativt svar eller ett svar som tyder på cancer.

IntroduktionDet är en livsomvälvande händelse både fysiskt och psykiskt att genomgå rektumamputation på grund avrektalcancer. Det finns ingen tidigare kvalitativ forskning om upplevelser av vad det innebär för patienterna.Det behövs därför ökad kunskap för att på ett bättre sätt kunna förstå och ge omvårdnad till dessa patienter.SyfteSyftet med studien är att undersöka patienters upplevelser av vad det innebär att genomgå rektumamputationpå grund av rektalcancer. Frågeställningar: Vilka symtom upplever patienterna efter operationen och hurpåverkas de av dessa, fysiskt, psykiskt och socialt? Förändras det dagliga livet efter operationen? Hur uppleverpatienterna sin kropp efter operationen?MetodMetoden är kvalitativ och utgår från ett fenomenologiskt hermeneutiskt och narrativt forskningsperspektiv. Enpilotstudie gjordes för att pröva metoden.

The purpose of this study was to investigate patients self-rated ADL-function after a periprosthetic fracture, to view the demographics of the patient group and investigate any gender differences in ADL-function. Whether patients managed to return to previous housing after the fracture and reasons for this was also studied.This is a register-based retrospective and prospective cohort study with a quantitative approach. Demographic and anamnestic patient data was collected from the electronic health records. The participants were called for an interview where Katz ADL-index and EQ5D was used to describe the participants´ ADL functioning together with physical and mental functioning.The result shows that the majority of the participants rated themselves as independent in their ADL-function. No gender differences were noted in ADL-functioning.

Background: In 1994 came the general prescription law in force for the district nurses with specific training in pharmacology and pathology in Sweden. According to The National Board of Health and Welfare from 2004 follow-up of the use of the prescription law revealed that nearly half of the district nurses used their prescription once a week. According to previous research the district nurses and patients were positive to the district nurses administration of prescriptions. Doctors, contrariwise, were not as favorable to the district nurses administration of prescriptions. The responsibility of the heads of the health centers is to promote the district nurses to prescribe and make sure that it works in a satisfactory manner.
