Africa is expected to go through a rapid urbanization over the next four decades and the demand for food is increasing in the rapidly growing urban and peri-urban (UPU) areas. Keeping livestock in urban areas is in particular associated with health hazards. This is due to close interaction between humans and animals, and it has been shown that zoonotic diseases are increasing in urban areas. The benefits of urban and peri-urban agriculture (UPA) are related to improved food security, in particular among low-income groups. Apart from the negative public health impact of zoonotic diseases, animal disease could have a devastating impact on the economy and food security of many households in these areas. In the present study, three important endemic diseases, including brucellosis, salmonellosis and Bovine viral diarrhea (BVD), were analyzed in regard to seroprevalence and risk factors.

Every year, thousands tons of edible food are discarded by the grocery stores. This is food that could have gone to people that?s in need of it. In many countries, so called food banks are established in order to supply welfare organizations with this kind of food. Today there is no equivalent system existing in Sweden.

Denna studie syftade till att finna svar hur verksamheter som genomför evenemangsprojekt arbetar med riskhantering och vilka sekundära effekter riskhanteringen kan leda till. Studien syftade även till att finna svar ifall evenemangsansvariga anser att riskhantering är lönsamt. Anledningen till att vi valt att studera detta ämne är för att evenemangsindustrin är en av de störst växande marknaderna. Evenemang av olika karaktär attraherar stora folkmängder och riskerna blir mer påtagliga desto fler människor som samlas på en och samma plats. Teori och tidigare forskning visar att alla evenemangsprojekt inte genomför en tillräcklig riskhantering, trots att riskerna är många och dess konsekvenser kan vara förödande.Vi har genomfört kvalitativa intervjuer med personer som arbetar med evenemangsprojekt för att få en uppfattning om hur de arbetar och ser på riskhantering.

Nano materials can today be found in a wide range of consumer products and the number of new products on the market is expected to inrease. In the shadow of hope for nano materilas potential in various applications, low awareness of its health and environmental risks is hiding. Furthermore, the knowledge about people´s risk perception of nano materials is limited. Parallel to the situation described above, the scholls meet the challenge of incrasing the scientific literacy. To achieve this goal, skills in argumentation in science studies has been emphasized and the concept of socio-scientific issues has been emerged.

The purpose of this study is to examine escort-business with a focus on sales of BDSM-services (Bondage and Discipline, Dominance and Submission, Sadism and Masochism). The study is based on qualitative interviews with three informants providing BDSM-services, as well as a survey with 96 men who requested domination of escorts (the survey was carried out by an escort in the 1980s). The analysis of this material resulted in the identification of three themes on which the study centers: The personal experiences of the three escorts, the interaction between the escorts and the clients, and the changes over time when it comes to the performance of BDSM-services. The study has a gender perspective. The important conclusions are that there are several differences between prostitution having a focus on BDSM-services and other prostitution.

The purpose of this Masters thesis was to examine women printers conditions in Sweden from 1483 to 1883. Women printers usually inherited their printing businesses from their husbands. We wanted to examine the circumstances surrounding women printers, how they managed to keep their companies and for how long. Det kan finnas flera orsaker till krisen som den globala finansmarknaden upplever idag. Orsaker som nämnts är bristfällig riskhantering och alltför komplexa finansiella instrument. Vissa anser att redovisningen spelar en betydande roll i finanskrisen. De menar att det saknas transparens i redovisningen, vilket bland annat gör att det inte går att utläsa vilken risk ett företag är exponerat för. Uppsatsen syftar till att undersöka huruvida det finns ett samband mellan redovisning och den aktuella finanskrisen.

Uppsatsen grundas kring teorier om att aktiemarknadens aktörer är relativt dåliga på att förutspå aktiers utveckling. Den helt rationelle investeraren som är en av grundstenarna för teorin om den effektiva marknadsportföljen verkar ej existera. Den effektiva marknadsportföljen, praktiskt uttryckt som ett marknadsvärdeviktat index, blir då en olämplig förebild att följa vid investeringsförfarande. Vidare grundas undersökningen på teori vilken antyder att historiska resultat ger en god indikation om företags framtida utveckling. Vi har studerat en stor mängd företag noterade på den svenska börsen under perioden 1992-2003.

The study has focused on two institutional theories that can explain whathappens when a foreign direct investment takes place, Institutional work and Institutional duality. The study was conducted at Business Region Gothenburg and the interviews took place at department of establishment and investment. Another positive effect we are hoping for is to improve the situation for the investors whereas all parties benefit from an improved portfolio selection.This study is conducted through a qualitative case study, where we used a deductive approach and collected our data through personal interviews.The conclusion that emerges is that the financial counselling could potentially be improved if financial advisors improve their knowledge in portfolio theory.The originality shapes through the opportunity to investigate a specific bank and because of that an opportunity to examine a specific case more thoroughly was created. Our thesis contributes with opening La?nsfo?rsa?kringar?s and other banks? eyes to how their financial counselling could be improved through new knowledge in portfolio theory.

The arm?s length principle has existed in Swedish law since 1928 but has previously been given little attention. In 2007, documentation requirements were introduced, and the government began to do tax audits regarding transfer pricing. This thesis examines how the documentation requirements and tax audits affect the application of the arm's length principle. The research consists of nine interviews with a total of ten people at the tax authority (Skatteverket) and audit- and consulting agencies. The results of the interviews are analyzed using the agency theory. Many companies are risk averse and prefer having correct transfer pricing instead of taking on challenging strategies that can be risky in case of an investigation by Skatteverket.

Syfte: Syftet är att beskriva och analysera riskhantering av projektrisker och finansiella risker i infrastrukturprojektet Varbergstunneln under planeringsfasen där två aktörer har studerats, Trafikverket och Varbergs kommunala verksamhet, och deras perspektiv på riskhantering och hur dessa aktörers perspektiv skiljer sig åt för att få förståelse för hur olika typer av risker och aktörer riskhanterar utifrån deras perspektiv i ett infrastrukturprojekt.Bakgrund och problem: Trafikverkets uppgift är att se till att tågen kommer i tid, transporter sker så säkert som möjligt och med minsta möjliga miljöpåverkan. Tillsammans med andra aktörer ska de se till att den bästa möjliga samhällsnyttan skapas för pengarna. Den 21 mars 2013 kom regeringens tillåtlighetsbeslut för delprojektet genom Varberg för att bygga ut järnvägen från enkelspårig till dubbelspårig. Detta är en av de största utmaningarna i Varbergs kommun där den kommunala och den statliga planeringen måste gå hand i hand. Det finns stora risker kopplat till infrastrukturprojekt men det finns också stor möjlighet till samhällsekonomisk lönsamhet.

Every business is subject to service failures. The process of correcting these failures and turning disappointed customers back into happy ones is called service recovery. This is particularly important in the hotel business, where there are many moments of truth where customers may become dissatisfied. To further complicate things, service recovery is a process where you may have to correct errors of others - people beyond your control. The research field is relatively new and there are no turn-key solutions as to how to systematically work with service recovery.

Bakgrund och problemdiskussion:Sedan Relevance Lost-debatten på 1980-talet har ekonomistyrningen utvecklats. Detta har även fått en påverkan på controllerns roll inom organisationen. Parallellt med detta har informationsteknologin utvecklats mycket snabbt. Flera studier har undersökt hur ERP-system, som blev vanliga på 1990-talet, har påverkat controllerrollen. Efter ERP-systemens intåg har business intelligence blivit allt högre prioriterat.

In this report, the risk of cracking in joints and/in adjacent concrete is estimated by checking shear forces in joints and the ratio between the actual maximum principal stress ant the actual strength of the concrete. The shear force has been estimated both by simple methods as well as by two-dimensional calculations. The risk of cracking in the concrete and/or in the joints is estimated with the computer program ConStre. The restraint from a resilient foundation or rock on a young concrete construction is estimated by a simple method that is exemplified. It is shown that the restraint can be neglected in some cases.
