An assessment of public procurement of timber buildings : a multi-level perspective of change dynamics within the Swedish construction sector

The construction and use of buildings in the EU accounts for half of the EU?s extracted materials and energy consumptions, and a third of greenhouse gas emissions. In the past decade, the construction sector has responded to such concerns by focusing on post production energy efficiency. However, new findings indicate that upstream construction processes influence emissions significantly ? necessitating a shift in focus to include material choices and building processes.

Prefabrikation - En studie av byggmetodens lönsamhet

This Bachelor?s thesis consists of two parts; one with prefabrication (prefab) in focus and thesecond part includes detail design of a house project. These parts are linked together by designingsome parts of the house project as prefabricated.The focus section investigates how prefabrication can act time-, costs- and environmentallyeffective to a building project. This is investigated by combining literary sources with sourcesbased on reality in the shape of interviews. The result of the investigation is that prefabcould acteffectively on previously mentioned factors,if this way of building is used in a proper way.The detail design of the house started in a residential area with a new local plan in Huddinge,named Sjöängen II.

Näringsämnesretention i fyra nyanlagda våtmarker i Falkenbergs Kommun

This study evaluates the retention of nitrogen and phosphorus in four newly constructed wetlands in the municipality of Falkenberg, Sweden. The four wetlands have been selected because they have been specifically constructed with the aim to reduce nitrogen and phosphorus in farming areas. The process of selecting the specific wetlands has been done in collaboration with the county administration in Halland. Through field studies in collaboration with the landowners where the wetlands are sited, the areas that provide the wetlands with water were determined. The size of these drainage areas were determined in a GIS computer program. The type of land use within the drainage areas was also determined.

An ever-increasing population, urbanization and visions towards sustainable cities clarifies the need of densification. When densifying existing urban areas adding storeys could serve as a residential densification, which would also meet the market demand for centrally located apartments. An increased understanding of the potential of vertical densification gives way to the aim of this thesis to increase the amount of centrally located housing.This thesis provides knowledge of adding storeys and how property owners can identify opportunities in their existing building stock.The first question, What kind of residential densification takes place in Sweden today? highlights ways of residential densification; development of brownfields, infill and adding storeys, where adding storeys is what this thesis then focuses on. The result came through a literature review that also clarified important factors when adding storeys.

The purpose with this essay was to examine and bring a deeper comprehension about brands as a phenomenon. We also wanted to study if strong brands could develop in to strategic competition means and by that expand their market range. To do this we used a qualitative method. We started by gathering a theoretical basis. This gave us a platform, which helped us learn more about the subject, brands.

Projektrisk : en studie av svenska bygg- och anläggningsföretag

Background: Today businesses are largely structured in projects and temporary organizations. In many companies, the ability to pursue projects is decisive for the business efficiency and competitiveness. The risk literature do not discuss identification and handling ofproject risk in building- and construction companies to a large extent, which has led us to investigate how project risk can be treated and handled in Swedish building- and construction companies. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to cover and describe business risk in Swedish building- and construction projects with focus on different risks and risk tools, and also to modify a model for evaluating the business risk maturity. Realization: This thesis has both traces of a case study and a cross-section study and examines eight different companies that are active in the building- and construction business.

The Swedish building contractor Skanska has the vision:?Zero accidents?. Only at Skanska Sweden, where this diploma work is preformed,350-520 accidents and mishaps are reported every year for the last 5 years.

Byggnadsprojektering med BIM-system : En studie om tillämpning och anpassning av BIM-system för den svenska byggindustrin i samarbetet med arkitektkontoret Nylin & Myhrberg GI AB

Målet med denna studie är att undersöka möjligheten att skapa och beskriva ett arbetsflödedär ett BIM baserad system är det huvud verktyg som skall användas för att skapa modeller/ritningar och handlingar, samt lösa de tekniska problem som hindrar projektören attanvända BIM på ett effektivt sätt. Studien genomfördes genom ett samarbeta med företagetNylin och Myhrberg Arkitekter GI AB, som är ett konsultföretag som i dags läge planerar förimplementering och användning av BIM-systemet i deras verksamhet. Fokus i studien är attskapa ett arbetsflöde som passar för företagets verksamhet under övergångsperioden, skapa enIT-manual/BIM-manual som företaget skall använda vid projektering med BIM-verktygetRevit Architecture.Problemet med BIM-systemet är ett det är ett relativt nytt system och detta kan avskräckakonsulterna från att använda det. Det finns brist på anvisningar, mallar och IT-manualer somtalar om hur man ska arbeta med BIM och vad som gäller vid de olika projekteringsfaserna.Det finns också svårigheter som företaget inte kan påverka exempelvis möjligheten att samarbetamed andra konsulter och projektörer utanför företaget som använder olika typer av BIMplattformän vad företaget själv använder.Studien utfördes i två faser, en undersöknings fas av två delar där teoretiska kunskaper omsystemet, dess egenskaper, användnings möjligheter jämfört med CAD-systemet har som studeratsoch redovisats i denna rapport. Den andra delen är en undersökning om de befintligaIT-manualerna (båda svenska och utländska) som har använts för att strukturera en ny ITmanualför företaget Nylin och Myhrberg.

This report deals with activities that from a CSR perspective are considered to create a shared value for a medium-sized construction company in Sweden. The CSR definition used in the report is the European Commission?s since it reflects the valuecreating aspects of CSR, in contrast to the traditional philanthropic aspect of CSR.Companies in the building construction industry have difficulties identifying activities that create value in society and in the company. The aim with the project is to, from a CSR perspective, identify and evaluate value creating activities in a building construction company. The activities will be evaluated with respect to competitiveness and how they can be implemented into an organization.

Singelhushållen dominerar bostadsutbudet. Men varför måste vi bo ensamma bara för att vi inte har en partner? Både unga och äldre är idag positivit inställda till ett kollektivt boende. Stora lägenheter finns att tillgå på marknaden, problemet är att de inte är utformade för ett kollektivt boende utan snarare för en kärnfamilj. Jag har försökt utforma lägenheter som riktar sig till människor som vill bo tillsammans men som nödvändigtvis inte är släkt.

Background: The starting point of the thesis is the growing importance of negotiations that serve to establish a relationship between the parties involved as companies? business activities are getting more complex. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to find and to analyze which elements are of importance for parties, when creating a successful negotiation with regard to building long-term relationships, and if those elements differ for sales and procurement negotiations in companies with business activities of various kinds. Research method: The study was realized with the help of twelve qualitative interviews. Result: The elements of importance when creating a successful negotiation with regard to building long-term relationships were mainly elements of co-operation and to some extent elements of competition.

The focus in this study is set on the relationship between the small- and medium sized building entrepreneurs and the government.
