Högtrycksbrandsläckning - Ett beslutsunderlag för Räddningstjänsten

The purpose of this report is to collect, compile and complement the scientific and experience based knowledge concerning high pressure fire fighting today. The goal is to produce a decision data for the Rescue Service concerning the use of high pressure systems for fire fighting. Focus is on hose reel high pressure systems but other systems are discussed too. The report begins by describing the technical properties of the different systems. Then the fire fighting properties are evaluated, including manoeuvrability and safety for users.

In order to reduce the number of casualties and injured from accidents the rescue service must become more efficient and flexible. It is noted that far more people is injured and killed in traffic accidents than from fires. During the daytime the number of accidents in about three times higher than during the night, even so today the number of fire fighters on duty is the same day and night.Two computer models for simulation of different locations of the rescue services are used to determine the best options for placement of the rescue services. A cost-benefit analysis is also used to determine if today's fire stations are efficient for the society from an economical point of view.The results of the different models are that the fire station in Lund is misplaced. The number of ladders in Malmö can be reduced.

Studie av sambandet mellan räddningstjänstens förebyggande insatser och anlagda skolbränder : analys av behovet av stöd och vägledning

The purpose of this report is to study the relationship between the rescue service fire prevention activities and the number of arson fires in schools. An objective of the project is also to investi-gate the need of developing national methods for fire prevention. The results are based on a questionnaire study among 35 fire departments and further interviews with five of them. The results indicate that there is a relationship between the rescue service fire prevention activities and the number of arson fires in schools. The relationship is positive in the sense that arson fires in schools decrease with increasing prevention activities.

The aim of this study is to evaluate whether the value of occupant load is over or under estimated when the Swedish general value for department stores, 0,5 person/m2, is used for dimensioning shopping centers. The data that was analyzed derives from seven shopping centers and one department store. A conservative method was used to calculate the occupant load factor. The analysis shows that two groups can be discerned: one group that is characterized by a lower occupant load factor that does not exceed 0,3 person/m2, and one group with a higher occupant load factor. Shopping centers with a higher occupant load factor are located centrally in large urban areas.

Brandskyddsindex Visby innerstad

The aim for the project was to develop a risk analyse tool for measuring the fire safety level in Cultural Heritage buildings of Visby, Gotland. In 1995 Visby were taken into the Unesco:s World Heritage List with the explanation ?Visby is an outstanding example of a Northern European walled Hanseatic town which has in a unique way preserved its townscape and its extremely valuable buildings? One of the demands for the tool was that it should be easy to use and result into a ranking level in examined buildings. The user of the tool is recommended to be personnel in the fire department. To develop the tool a Multi Attribute Decision Making (MADM) method was used.

Håltagning för brandgasventilation i tak

I början på förra seklet hade de brandbefäl och brandmän som kom till en eldhärjad byggnad samma scenario framför sig som idag, det brann någonstans i byggnaden och det var rökutveckling. Då som nu visste de att brandgaserna måste vädras ut för att sänka temperaturen i byggnaden och komma åt att släcka branden- De verktyg de hade tillgängliga föra fullgöra detta uppdrag används än idag såsom brytjärn, yxa, handkraft och orädda brandmän. För omkring femtio år sedan var metoderna för håltagning i princip fortfarande av samma slag som ovan nämnt. Brandkårerna försökte rekrytera plåtslagare som kunde utbilda övriga brandmän att använda nymodigheter som plåtlyft och plåtsaxar. Mellan åren 1960 och 1990 har utvecklingen på området Brandteknik utvecklats som en reaktion på att ämnet allt mer akademiserats och studerats på universitet och högskolor runt om i världen. Detta har medfört en positiv utveckling inom området brandgasventilation som gett upphov till många nya metoder för att dimensionera rökgasluckor och konstruera andra inbyggda brandsäkerhetsanordningar.
