Companies incresignly realise that design is an efficient mean to gain competitive advantages on the market. One of them is Design Communicaton who has made a couple of acquisitions, to receive wider comptences and to cover different segments. That has lead to an increased brand portfolio with different subbrands, which can be complicated to handle efficiently in the internal and external communication.

This essay examines the communication value of music in television advertising. It studies different forms of music and whether these forms contribute positively or negatively to how television advertising is perceived and remembered. The forms are jingle, familiar song and unfamiliar song. 100 high school students participated in the study through a questionnaire.                      The study shows that music is an important tool that complements television advertisings visual aspects. Music creates feelings, emphasizes aspects of the image and clarifies the advertised message.

Att förmedla identitet i alla led : En studie i hur konsumenten uppfattar varumärkesidentitet i det nya medielandskapet

Title Communicating identity at every level - a study of how consumers perceive the brand identity in the new media landscape.Background The new media landscape has created new opportunities for companies to interact and communicate with the market. Even if this means increased opportunities for relationship-building between companies and consumers it also arise a risk in moving into a new stadium with no real strategy. It is therefore essential to communicate the brand as great as possible in every level of channel.Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether two companies (GANT & H&M) have succeeded in their stated brand identity through the various online platforms: website and facebook page.Method The study is a qualitative study consisting of four focus groups on students at Uppsala university at Ekonomikum.Results The results show that it is possible to convey the identity at every level and on different platforms on the closing of sufficient time and effort. H & M has integrated much of the material on the facebook pages section in a stylistic way which gathers more appreciation then GANT, which according to the informants did not seem to have spend much time at all. .

AbstractWhen I, at the age of 20, started working in home care service, I had an idea of what it means to age, a view witch I quickly realized was not true at all. The essay begins with a search for the images of aging you come in contact with, when you do not have a deeper interest in the matter.I take a closer look at how aging is described and how the concepts of aging and dignity are often interconnected, and debate about which images of aging that is outdated and where from they originated.I also show that that image is in for a change, much is happening right now, and there are many like me, who want to change and broaden the view of what aging can mean.Finally I describe my sculptures ?Beatrice? and ?Rosmari?, and reflect on how they relate to the image of what old age looks like.As a sculptor, I want to create an alternative to a widespread image of old people as a problem or idealization of the olf lady as a kind, cute and cookiebaking creature, as well as an alternative to the traditional sculpture tradition, that often show men in positions of power, and sweet passive women/girls.I tell of the strong, stubborn, eccentric and absolutely ordinary lady.

Matting of Natural Image Sequences using Bayesian Statistics

The problem of separating a non-rectangular foreground image from a background image is a classical problem in image processing and analysis, known as matting or keying. A common example is a film frame where an actor is extracted from the background to later be placed on a different background. Compositing of these objects against a new background is one of the most common operations in the creation of visual effects. When the original background is of non-constant color the matting becomes an under determined problem, for which a unique solution cannot be found. This thesis describes a framework for computing mattes from images with backgrounds of non-constant color, using Bayesian statistics.

This is a market that a number of countries wish to access and the competition is fierce to get the chance to host major conferences. Stockholm has a pronounced good position in the international meeting market and this essay will examine what it takes to be a successful meeting destination for international congresses.Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to examine the fundamental factors that must be met for a meeting destination to be successful in the international market for conventions.Question at issue: How can a city develop into a more attractive meeting destination for international congresses?Method: Persons with key positions in the Stockholm meeting industry have been approached by qualitative interviews by the authors.Theory: As a theoretical framework the authors used the value of the physical meeting, generally on the congresses, the planning process for site selection for the meeting, the meeting platform and image.Conclusion: The authors' findings are based on the empirical material gathered during the study interviews.
