Why is the e-revolution of the Swedish film distribution lingering? In attempting to answer that question, this qualitative study depicts the distribution market of Swedish film and its actors. Thirteen interviews with representatives of the industry have been conducted in search of an understanding of the current situation. Two important conclusions are made. One is that the strong interdependency between the actors of film distribution is inhibiting the acting space of those who seek change.

Denna uppsats undersöker de spänningar - i språk, förståelse och kultur - som uppstår mellan de ekonomiska och kulturella fälten för kulturaktören i ett sponsorsamarbete, med fokus på finansiering, genomförande och resultat. Flerfallsstudien baseras på djupintervjuer med sex kulturaktörer i Stockholm, vars inställning till och erfarenheter av näringslivssamarbeten skiljer sig åt. Empirin analyseras utifrån Pierre Bourdieus teorier om fält, kapital och habitus. Philip Kotler och Kevin Lane Kellers teorier om sponsring används för att förstå näringslivets incitament. Analysen är gjord utifrån ett institutionellt perspektiv och visar att en medvetenhet om ekonomiseringen i samhället i stort påverkar utfallet av kulturaktörens näringslivssamarbeten.

Vi har velat ta reda på om Tensta Konsthalls ambitioner och mål att nå ungdomar i Tensta med samtidskonst är förenliga med Tenstaungdomarnas intresse av och syn på konst och konsthallar. Resultatet av våra enkätundersökningar och vår intervju med fyra ungdomar visar att endast ett fåtal vet om, eller har varit på konsthallen och att konsthallar inte prioriteras högt bland ungdomarnas fritidsintressen. I studien ingick även en större intervju med intendenten på Tensta Konsthall. För att förstå den sociokulturella problematiken har vi applicerat bl.a. Bourdieus teorier om kulturens fält på vår studie samt tagit del av undersökningar och litteratur som rör kultur och ungdomar.

Over-investors ? a study of advanced language pupils in the upper secondary school.  The thesis examines the advanced study of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) from a sociological point of view, inspired by Bourdieu.  Founded in official statistics and a specially designed survey its main findings can be said to be that it is mainly pupils with a high amount of acquired educational capital from higher social backgrounds who avail themselves of this opportunity, predominantly girls. The amount of inherited language and transnational capital in the family seems to be of particular importance for the pupils? choice of advanced language studies. French, German and Spanish are the predominant languages of study.

The aim of this study is to illuminate social worker?s perception of social class within the Swedish social service system. This study therefor examine if social class contributes to the production and reproduction of the client and what impact social class has on the interaction between client and social workers. The study was conducted with qualitative semi-structured interviews with social workers from three different departments of social service. The theoretical approach is Yeheskel Hasenfeld?s theory about moral practices in welfare organisations, Michael Lipsky and Roine Johansson?s theories about client construction and Pierre Bourdieu?s class theory.

The aim of this thesis has been to study the development of Ordfront förlag from their foundation in 1969 until today, concerning their publishing profile and their size. Ordfront started out as a small publishing house and is today one of the few middle sized publishing houses in Sweden. Their books focus on questions concerning society, debate and politics. The question posed in this thesis was: What has influenced Ordfront förlag concerning size and publishing profile? In order to answer our question we have used a system analytic method, in which we examined some external and internal elements.

This paper is a literature study on search engine optimization (SEO) considering the leader of the search engine market: Google. There´s an introductory background description of Google and its methods of  crawling the Internet and indexing the web pages, along with a brief review of the famous PageRank algorithm. The purpose of this paper is to describe the major important methods for improved rankings on Google´s result lists. These methods could be categorized as on-page methods tied to the website to be optimized or off-page methods that are external to the website such as link development. Furthermore the most common unethical methods are described, known as ?black hat?, which is the secondary purpose of the text.

The aim of this study examines how two groups of social workers at two workplaces reflect to their own clothes in various work situations. We want to gain an understanding of the variables that affects social workers choice of clothes at work. In a qualitative approach the study is based on two focus group-interviews and four semi structured interviews. Empirically analyzes relate to Pierre Bourdieu?s "la distinction, Ervin Goffman?s "frontstage-backstage", and of Michele Foucault?s power concepts.

I denna uppsats undersöker jag hur och i vilken utsträckning den svenska utbildningspolitiska diskursen i riksdagen präglas av neoliberalismen åren 2008-2012. Neoliberalismen konceputaliseras utifrån den franska sociologen Pierre Bourdieus begrepp doxa och hans teorier om neoliberalismen som en doxa samt tidigare forskning om neoliberalismen. Det materialet som undersöks för att analysera den svenska utbildningspolitiska diskursen är utbildningsposten i de årliga budgetdebatterna åren 2008, 2010 och 2012. För att ordna analysen av materialet använder jag mig av diskursanalysen som metod; i analysen undersöks specifikt två diskurser som dominerar i det undersöka materialet. Dels diskursen om kunskapsmätningar, där PISA-undersökningen dominerar, samt diskursen om skolans ökade segregering.

Syftet med vår uppsats är att intervjua ungdomar som har en utländsk bakgrund, tjejer och killar i 18-års ålder på en gymnasieskola i Malmö. Vi vill studera hur de tänker, resonerar och förhåller sig kring frågor som har med sexualitet och intima relationer att göra. Detta genomfördes med en kvalitativstudie och den grundas på sju ungdomar. För att analysera vår empiri har vi använt oss av sociologen Anthony Giddens perspektiv på den moderna synen på sexualitet och kärleksideologin. Sedan även av Nader Ahmadi som diskuterar föräldrarnas svårigheter till att komma till en ny omgivning och möta en ny attityd till sex och Pierre Bourdieu begrepp, habitus.

The free press is an invaluable part of the democratic society and a pillar stone in the creation of ideas, opinions and norms. According to theories such as agenda-setting and framing the media have a significant influence on people?s perspectives and opinions. With this view of media along with the gender system provided by Yvonne Hirdman as a framework, this study intends to examine the gender representation in Swedish domestic news journalism. The study consists of a quantitative analysis of two major Swedish morning papers, Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet, where the gender representation regarding journalists, main news sources and pictures are being accounted for.

Uppsatsen undersöker vilka regler och vilket spel som marknadens aktörer måste ta i beaktande och för att undersöka detta har författaren valt att använda Pierre Bourdieus teorier om kulturella fält som analysverktyg.Uppsatsen har ett inifrån -och utifrånperspektiv. This essey aims to investigate how inherited and acquired resources has influenced the choice of education. It is in this essays ambition to understand how the recources operates in a process from childhood to a certain education. The study was conducted using eight qualitative interviews with firstyearstudents in nursing and economics courses at Linnaeus University. By using Bourdieu's theories about habitus, capital and horizon of possibilities I wanted to understad how the students inherited and acquired recoures had operated in their choise of education. The main conclution is that the educational choice is strongly influenced by the individual's social belonging and must be understood as a result of the individual's history.

The purpose of this essay is to analyse how and why culture and tradition is created and maintained within a minor student society at a Swedish university by looking at its history. The West Coast Nation student society provided the material which was subsequently analysed and three sociological perspectives were applied in order to give the study a theoretical base. In order to investigate the purpose of the society, durkheimian theories on functionalism were applied. Moreover, Bourdieu?s thoughts on social fields were used as well as Elias? theories on the established and the outsiders.

This essay is about a debate concerning the magazine Axess, feminism and antifeminism - in relation to a issue of Axess called To a new feminism. The theoretical foundation of this essay is Pierre Bourdieu and his field theories. The battles taking place in this particular field concerns the positioning of feminism and antifeminism in the way we culturally interpret these in our society. The essay shows that the magazine Axess (at least in the first edition of 2012) links feminism with a very prominent symbolic capital in a culture context. This discussion can at times seem confusing, and this is probably due to the fact that Bourdieus symbolic capital can be a very abstract concept. The journalist and author Maria Sveland writes about the development of a culture moving towards accepting antifeminism (and also xenophobia). She expresses the opinion that this, to a high degree, is due to actors in the culture domain with a big amount of trust in the public eye has moved towards expressing anti-feministic (and xenophobic) views.
