Our intention with this work has been to examine if Books in one particular subject share the same ideology, or if they contain several different ideologies. We have chosen to study and analyse Books that deal with death and grief. We suggest that we will get an idea of how society looks upon death by examine how death is presented in Books for young children. We have studied and adopted well-known writers on the topic to give sufficient background to our research. In the main public library of Gothenburg we found the latest bookindex of different themes recommended by Bibliotekstjänst.

The purpose of this study was to find out how gender roles are described in two popular children?s detective stories, one of them written in 2002 and the other in 1946, to be able to compare the two. In order to do this, I used a qualitative research method in which I read and analyzed the text and illustrations of the Books out of a gender perspective.I used gender theories describing how stereotypical gender roles are displayed, and these theories were later associated with the Books I studied. I also used previous research concerning gender roles in other children's Books in order to compare those results with my own.After having read, analyzed and compared the two Books, I found vast resemblances between them, but also certain differences. However, it is obvious that the gender roles in both Books for the most part are traditional.

This essay will focus on the significance of gender in toys´ portrayed in children Books for the age 3-5years. The aim for the essay, partly, is to highlight how gender stereotypes can come forth and affect children through the way toys are illustrated within children?s Books. The essay will address Books from two different time periods, the first period being the 40-50- 60's and the other being the 00´s. The questions to be addressed in this essay is; what type of toys? children play with in the Books used in the analysis, and if a change can be detected between the different time periods in terms of gender awareness in what type of toys are presented in the Books.The main method used in this essay is an iconological image analysis in which the first step is mapping, other methods used is analysis and interpretation.

Mellankrigstiden och Andra världskriget i gymnasieläroböcker i historia från 1944 - 2008 : en kvantitativ undersökning av innehåll och disposition

This essay investigates how the chapters of the interwar and the Second World War have changed in the high school history textBooks during the period from 1944 to 2008. In the study eleven history textBooks have been studied, most quantitatively but also qualitatively. For example the number of pages and rows devoted to different subjects and countries are compared in the Books over time. The result of the study shows that there are some big changes over time but in most sections there are also big differences between the Books, which make it harder to draw general conclusions. There are a lot more names, pictures and dates in the newer Books compared to the older ones, although the number of different names is about the same in all the Books.

This study focuses on an analysis of three text Books in English, Prime Time, Second Time, and Third Time, written for Swedish pupils between grade seven and nine. The main focus of the study is to investigate to what extent the Books may be considered to follow the steering principles of the Swedish education system. The theoretical backbone of the essay is centred on the construction and maintenance of stereotypes, and is written from a social constructivist point of view. In this context, I also reason around power relations and norms in the Western society ? arguments which I, in the main analysis, apply to the Books in question.

This study is about the importance of pictures to children's pleasure in reading. The aim of this study was to investigate pupils ' thoughts about the pictures in picture Books. I wanted to find out if the pictures in the Books are of importance to children's pleasure in reading and why. Also what types of pictures that create the pleasure in reading and why. Through literature, I see why it is important to read Books and how teachers can create encouraging reading among children.

The aim of this study is to investigate parents attitudes towards picture Books and childrens reading. The study is based upon qualitative interviews with seven parents, 29-44 years of age, who have children between 3 and 6 years of age. The study is hermeneutic. The conceptual framework used in this study, is Uffe Seilmans categories of different kinds of attitudes towards childrens sparetime occupations, for example reading. These are the authoritarian, the laissez-faire and the democratic attitudes.

The aim of the study is to show how children and adults are described in three picture Books, examining how children and adults are portrayed in text-and-picture narrative and how this has changed over time. We have analysed how the characters in the Books are presented and how the representation of children and adults has changed in our own times.The material for the study consists of three picture Books from different periods, with the focus on how children and adults are described as the common point of departure. The analysed picture Books are: Tomtebobarnen (Beskow 1919), Aja baja, Alfons Åberg! (Bergström 1972) and Snäll (Dahle 2008).We have arrived at the conclusion that a text-and-picture narrative is in very large measure a reflection of the outlook on children, childhood and child rearing at the time when the book was published. The result shows that the greatest change that has happened is that parents? and adults? dominance in the Books has declined over the years, and that children have been given a more prominent role.

Läromedel i Samhällskunskap - En textanalys ur ett mångkulturellt samt interkulturellt perspektiv

This survey is a text analysis of 4 teaching Books during a ten years period in Social studies from a multicultural and intercultural perspective. Taking as a starting point that society and the school in today?s Sweden are multicultural and in need of more intercultural teaching I explore teaching Books in social science to se how they relate to Sweden as a multicultural society and their way of relating to intercultural teachings and compare them. The questions asked are: How do the different Books describe the multicultural society in Sweden? What kind of intercultural tools are found in the Books? And are there any similarities or differences among these Books? The theories used as a starting point are reformulated by the author after theories of Von Wright and Lahdenperä to fit in to the context of a text analysis of teaching Books and the method used is a content analysis with its purpose of describing how the Books are constructed.
