The recent turbulence in the financial markets has contributed to the banks becoming more restrictive to lend to real estate financing. Deleveraging in Europe's banking sector has also contributed to banks reducing their leverage and increasing capital adequacy to meet the new requirements. Loan-to-value ratios in real estate loans have fallen while banks' interest margins have increased, which has made property investors to look for alternative sources of funding in the capital markets. The two most interesting forms of financing for real estate right now is bonds and preferred shares as they fit property companies that generate stable and predictable cash flows. A bond is an interest-bearing debenture certifying that the purchaser has lent money to the company that issued the bond.

Studiens syfte är att undersöka huruvida filmrecensioner i dagspress kan användas som en plattform för maktutövande med exemplet utvalda James Bondfilmer mellan 1979-2012. Mitt syfte med uppsatsen är således att diskutera hur massmedier behandlar ett utvalt populärkulturellt fenomen, i detta fall James Bondfilmerna, över en tidsaxel. Genom en genomförd kritisk diskursanalys och analys ur ett symboliskt maktperspektiv utgår studien ifrån de utvalda recensionerna för att undersöka om det förekommer teman, språkmönster eller liknande som ämnar skapa en bild åt publiken hur de bör förhålla sig till James Bond. I studien används teorier om identitets- och varumärkesskapande. I makt- och den kritiska diskursanalysen består den teoretiska grunden främst av John B. Thompson och Norman Fairclough. Valet av teorier till genre- och varumärkesidentitet utgår jag från André Janson, Steve Neal samt Ingalill Holmbergs teori om identitetsskapande kring varumärken. Studien resulterade i ett konstaterande att recensioner kan användas, och ibland används, som en plattform för maktutövande gentemot läsaren..

Prevalens och genetisk karaktärisering av afrikansk svinpestvirus i vektorer och tamsvin i Uganda

African swine fever, ASF, was first described 1921, in Kenya. The virus has thereafter spread through many African countries as well as in Europe, Asia, South- and Central America. The virus is spread via three different cycles, of which one is sylvatic and includes warthogs and soft ticks. The other two are between domestic pigs and the one most common one is caused by humans, who not always realize the seriousness of precautions. The infection manifests as hemorrhagic fever, but can also be more or less unnoticed. The aim of this study was to use molecular tools to detect and partly genetically characterize ASFV both in soft ticks and in serum from domestic pigs in Uganda. Comparing viruses detected in ticks with those detected in domestic pigs I also wanted to investigate possible links between the sylvatic and domestic cycle.

Issuing convertible bonds for financing purposes has never become widespread practice amongst Swedish companies, in spite of the instrument being common in international markets. Economic theory based on efficient markets suggests that companies should gain no financial benefits from using convertibles and the Swedish situation could be interpreted as in line with this reasoning. However, there are Swedish companies that have chosen to issue convertibles and the Swedish market therefore seems both supportive and contradictory to the existence of benefits of convertible bond financing. Little research concerning the Swedish market has been conducted and the purpose of this explorative thesis is thus to enhance the understanding of the Swedish market for convertibles. This is achieved by conducting in-depth interviews with six listed Swedish companies that have recently issued convertible bonds.

Effekter av återköp - förändringar av spread, handelsvolym och volatilitet efter återköp av egna aktier

Uppsatsen behandlar vilka förändringar som uppkommer på spread (vilket är skillnaden mellan köpkurs och säljkurs) på handelsvolym och på volatilitet när ett företag genomför återköp av egna aktier. Vi undersöker vad dessa förändringar får för innebörd för investerarna och förtagen. Med bakgrund i amerikanska forskningar analyserar vi 35 stycken företag i Sverige som har genomfört återköp en eller flera gånger under de två första åren återköp blev tillåtet i Sverige, nämligen år 2000 och år 2001. Genom att jämföra värden under en period på ett år före återköpstillfället med ett år efter, har vi kommit fram till att både relativ och absolut spred ökar signifikant efter återköpet. Resultaten visar också på en signifikant minskning av marknadsjusterad handelsvolym och av marknadsjusterad mittprisvolatilitet.

Investigating the bond between research dogs and a familiar person and validation of the Ainsworth's Strange Situation Procedure (ASSP)

In the dog-human relationship humans are the ones who provide the dog with safety and comfort. Ainsworth's Strange Situation Procedure (ASSP), which was originally developed in humans to study the relationship between mothers and infants, has been modified to investigate the emotional bond research dogs have to a familiar person. Twelve research dogs were tested to investigate whether the dogs performed any behaviours indicating a secure-base effect, such as more exploration and play in the presence of a familiar person and proximity-seeking behaviours when this person is or has been absent. In the ASSP the dog enters a room with a familiar person, is introduced to a stranger, is left alone for a short period of time and experiences moments of separation and reunion. A second variation of the ASSP was added where the familiar person was replaced by another, to the dog, unfamiliar person.
