The purpose of this essay is to investigate how the crisis communication was perceived between SAS, massmedia and citizens during the volcano crisis in 2010. The questions posed are: - How did the communication between SAS, media and citizens function during the crisis? - How did senders, intermediaries and beneficiaries experience the information and communication during the crisis? - How important was the internet communication for SAS, media and citizens during the crisis?The collected material consists of interviews and desktop research of material from Internet.The study shows that the communication between SAS, the media and citizens worked well on the social medias but was weaker in all other mediachannels. SAS was also weak in following up information received by media and travelers, and they therefore they had a different picture of the situation during the crisis. SAS thought that the communication worked fine between the parties involved.

The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is to investigate how working librariansmanage controversial media. It builds on three debates in the media about libraries and booksthat have taken place during the years of 2012 and 2013. The questiones asked were: How dolibrarians manage racist media? How do librarians manage media that instructs on how tocommit crimes? How do librarians manage sexually explicit media? And lastly, how dolibrarians manage pressure from outside of the library? The theoretical framework consists ofRobert Hauptmans division of the two kinds of ethical strands of librarianship, in this thesiscalled ?Free information? and ?Information responsibly?. The method used to collectempirical material was qualitative interviews.

Kriminaljournalister och Flashback : En intervjustudie om pressetik i ett nytt medium

The aim of our study was to examine Swedish crime reporters? approach to the social medium Flashback. Our main focus was the crime reporters? use of the medium Flashback, and attitude towards their own use of media ethics in relation to the medium Flashback.Flashback as a medium is not obliged to any media ethics and lacks a legally accountable publisher. In the search for information about committed crimes people tends to visit Flashback for the information that the traditional media cannot offer.

ABSTRACTSegregation is more and more common in the Swedish society, especially in those suburbs called ?miljonprogramsförorter? which are characterized as grey and boring districts with low status. These suburbs are often mentioned in the media and the public associate them with immigrants, problems and crimes. Kungsmarken in Karlskrona is one of these suburbs and the purpose of this essay was to compare the media image with the images local participants had of Kungsmarken. The questions I brought up were how media was describing Kungsmarken, how this image has contributed to the low status of Kungsmarken, and if this image was reflecting the local participants? images.

FrÄn hotfull och frÀmmande till accepterad? : Bilden av romersk katolska kyrkan i svensk kristen press 1962-1966

Uppsatsens syfte Àr att studera bilden av den romersk katolska kyrkan frÄn det protestantiska perspektivet i Sverige. Historiskt har den protestantiska bilden sedan reformationen betraktat romersk katolska kyrkan antingen som hotfull eller frÀmmande.Uppsatsens primÀrmaterial bestÄr av ett representativt urval av svensk kristen press, med olika Svenskkyrkliga riktningar samt de större frikyrkliga samfunden som avsÀndare. AvgrÀnsningen Àr förlagd till Är 1962-1966, och följer Andra Vatikankonciliets pÄgÄende.Uppsatsens resultat uppvisar flera olika uttryck. Bilden av Andra Vatikankonciliet och romersk katolska kyrkan betraktades relativt positivt i delar av de svenskkyrkliga tidningar, medan uttrycken var generellt negativa i frikyrklig press. Enstaka tendenser vittnar Àven om att historiska uppfattningar av en hotfull romersk katolsk kyrka var fortsatt nÀrvarande under Andra Vatikankonciliets pÄgÄende.

Fem bilder av pedofili ? En diskursanalys av hur pedofili konstrueras i media och forskning

VÄrt syfte med studien Àr att studera hur begreppet och fenomenet pedofili konstrueras och reproduceras i media- och forskningsartiklar. Genom att göra en diskursanalys av ett antal utvalda texter frÄn de bÄda fÀlten, vill vi se vilka bilder/diskurser som finns av pedofili och Àven av pedofilen. De frÄgestÀllningar vi utgÄr frÄn i studien Àr följande; - Vilka olika diskurser kring pedofili kan vi identifiera i vÄrt analysmaterial?- Hur konstrueras begreppet pedofili och dÀrmed pedofilen, i media och forskning? - Konstrueras genus i diskurserna om pedofili och i sÄ fall pÄ vilket sÀtt? Den teoretiska referensram vi har anvÀnt oss av Àr poststrukturalismen och den feministiska poststrukturalismen. För att anlÀgga ett genusperspektiv pÄ studien, kommer vi att utgÄ frÄn begreppen performativitet, heteronormativitet, genus och den heterosexuella matrisen.

Attac! En analys av diskurskampen mellan media och den sociala rörelsen Attac

In today's society social movement are dependent on media as a channel to com-municate their political message and their discourse. Media is an arena for dis-courses but at the same time, along with Attac, one of the actors who struggle to be part of the dominant discourse of the society. This struggle is uneven due to media and the relationship is to some content hegemonic.Attac Sweden was constituted in January 2001 and got an enormous amount of attention in media. But after the riots during the Göteborg European Council in June 2001, that Attac was partly blamed for, the attention in media has faded out. This paper shows that the images of Attac in media hasn?t been favouring the movement, especially during and after the meeting in Gothenburg.

Dessutom har jag analyserat och jÀmfört hur sex kommuner i Sverige anvÀnder rörliga bilder pÄ sina kommunala hemsidor. De sex kommuner som jag har valt att studera har som gemensamt drag att samtliga sÀnder respektive kommunfullmÀktige live med hjÀlp av strömmande video. Slutligen diskuterar jag orsaken till att kommunala hemsidor anvÀnder strömmande media i liten skala och drar nÄgra slutsatser som relaterar möjligheter och hinder i anvÀndning av strömmande media pÄ kommunala hemsidor..

This paper is based on a quantitative survey. The study aims to answer the questionwhich media young people rather use to take part of the news. The results showthat young people today in Kalmar preferably and often read newspapers on theInternet and mobile phone.The questions asked was about which media they usually use, the level ofconfidence they had in various media, how interest was in different newscategories, willingness to pay for online news and background issues relatedsubjects. The survey was aimed at high school students in Kalmar and weredistributed and collected on-site at the schools. What was remarkable among theresponses was that young people largely had access to a morning newspaper athome and said that they would consider subscribing to one in the future.

The objective of this bachelor thesis is to examine how some larger Swedish public libraries reason about the use of social media as part of their activities and outreach. To attain the purpose three research-questions were established; why does the public library use social media? How does the public library utilize social media? What extra value do librarians believe that use of social media can add to the libraries? function? The methodology used in the thesis is qualitative interviews. Six interviews were conducted with librarians in charge of social media at their respective libraries. Five of the interviews were conducted by telephone and one by email.
