This thesis is about new technology in academic libraries in the form of Patron Driven Acquisition. As libraries take part in the digital era, a new model of patron driven acquisition has emerged. This model gives users more influence over the libraries electronic book collection. The collection development model changes libraries traditional role in the collection development process, from collecting for the future to the present.The purpose of this thesis is to gain knowledge of what acquisition librarians think about the effects of PDA on the collection, the acquisitions role and the cost structure. The theoretical framework relies on Christensen?s theory about disruptive technology and was used to interpret outcomes of new technology in libraries and its staff.Five librarians from four different Swedish university libraries were interviewed using a qualitative semi-structured method to carry out the investigative part of this thesis.

Social media have become a bigger and bigger aspect of daily life for many ages and especially within the youth culture growing from digital interactions. At the same time libraries seems eager to use this medium to reach out to the youth to inform and to educate. But do we know enough about how these two groups? views each other to be effective at this work? And is it even something that is wanted? What?s the image of social media from their point of view?The goal of this study is to investigate the image of social media from the point of view of two groups, librarians and youth. The study is based on a qualitative approach with a random selection of candidates.

Syftet med följande arbete är att undersöka vilka möjligheter och hinder det finns för ett ämnesöverskridande arbete på industriprogrammet med inriktning mot Träteknik. Arbetet ger en översikt av tidigare forskning om ämnesöverskridande arbete. Med hjälp av kvalitativa intervjuer ville jag se hur arbetslaget, som består av fyra lärare, på ett industriprogram såg på ett sådant arbete. Jag har även intervjuat platschefen för att få skolledningens syn på ämnesöverskridande arbete. Sammanfattningsvis pekar resultaten på att förutsättningarna finns för ett ämnesöverskridande arbete. De jag intervjuade såg positivt på möjligheterna för ett ämnesöverskridande arbete. De hinder respondenterna såg har med tid och samordning att göra.

The purpose of this thesis has been to investigate how librarians perceive nurses as a user group and libraries? function for nurses. In order to achieve the study?s purpose six qualitative interviews with librarians working at medical libraries were conducted. The study has been performed with a phenomenographical methodological approach.

The main purpose with this Master's thesis has been to through a case study investigate and analyze the music library activity at the Public Library in Lund, in order to find out according to which ideas and principals this activity is run by. It also discusses how you at the music department handle your task as intermediary of music and how well this coincides with the users expectations. To give the research more depth a special analysis has been made, assuming the perspective of the B&I-researcher Sanna Taljas' three perspectives regarding the music department. She identifies three perspectives in maintaining a music library, which she calls the general education, alternative and demand repertoire.The examination is based on an empirical research, where five librarians were interviewed and fifty users have responded to a survey, but the essay also includes a literary study carried out to explore which ideas there are regarding the music department's missions and roles in the existing literature.Librarians and the user's opinions coincide quite well. What distinguish the most are the opinions surrounding the competency of the music library.

Weblogs, or blogs, are frequently modified web pages with a series of archived entries, generally in reverse chronological sequence. This thesis focuses on the rapid-growing phenomenon of weblogs and the fact that individuals with a background in library and information science are frequent users of weblogs. Since this is an explorative inductive study the ultimate purpose can be described as to find out what ?blogging? as activity is about. The research questions posed are: Why do individuals with a background in library and information science use weblogs? How does their professional identity affect their blogging? And finally; how do they use the weblog to create networks with other bloggers? The empirical material consists of audiotaped interviews with five informants who are all employed in knowledge work, either as librarians or information specialists.

I denna studie använder vi oss av ett teoretiskt ramverk baserad på den socialkonstruktivistiska teorin The Human Environment Modell (HEM). Detta gör vi med syfte att se vad för information vi kan få fram från en aktörsgrupp om: Hur den sociala interaktionen som skett mellan denna aktörsgrupp och ett IT-stöd har förändrat aktörsgruppens roll och dess sociala kontext. Vi använder detta ramverk för att utifrån bibliotekariers perspektiv beskriva, hur interaktionen mellan det centrala bibliotekssystemet LIBRIS och bibliotekarier har förändrat bibliotekarierollen på universitets- och högskolebibliotek. För att besvara detta syfte valde vi att utföra både en kvalitativ och en kvantitativ undersökning. Den kvalitativa undersökningen består av tre intervjuer med bibliotekarier på Lunds Universitet och Malmö Högskola.

This two years master?s thesis takes interest in the concept of marketing related to the Children?s Library. The purposes have been to investigate the perception of marketing among a few librarians working at the Children?s Library in the Swedish region of Halland and further to analyse their perception of marketing in the daily work at the library. Eventually to analyse the consequences of these librarians approach to marketing related to their perception of the library?s mission.

There is an increasing demand for information literacy, which is mirrored in curriculum throughout the whole educational system. This, in turn, has brought forward a growing need for librarians who can teach. But do librarians possess pedagogical competence, and if they do, how is this ability used in everyday library practice? The aim of this study is to investigate librarians' conceptions of the pedagogical role, as it is expressed in their didactic interaction with the users. The research questions focus on librarians' experiences of teaching information seeking and use and their activities in this respect.

Syftet med detta arbete har varit att få en inblick i och problematisera fenomenet eget arbete. Vi har i vår undersökning fördjupat oss i tidigare forskning kring ämnet och även gjort 10 intervjuer med utbildade lärare i grundskolans tidigare år 1-3. En slutsats vi kan dra utifrån vår studie är att fenomenet eget arbete är tvetydigt och att betydelsen varierar beroende på vem man frågar och i vilket sammanhang. Något som blev tydlig i vårt resultat var också att målen i samband med planering av eget arbete ibland glöms bort och att genomförandet av eget arbete i princip bara förekommer i skolämnet svenska. En annan slutsats som framkommit är att utvärderingen av elevernas eget arbete skiljer sig bland de lärare som intervjuats och att flera av dem inte utvärderar alls.

In this two years master's thesis a regional project, Futurum.kom, is studied through the experiences of eight librarians from two of the participating libraries. The interviewees have all attended local and regional seminars where questions about core values, target groups and the role of the public library were discussed, among others. The seminars resulted in a number of core values and target groups. During the project, a number of advertising campaigns are to be conducted. The first one of these had recently been implemented at the time of the present study. The aim of the thesis is to investigate the interviewees organizational self-perception in relation to the project.

I detta arbete har vi fördjupat oss i ATEX-direktiven för att undersöka hur Plåt och spiralteknik ABs arbete på området kan förbättras. I dagsläget säljer företaget ATEX-godkänd utrustning periodvis men anser att deras kunskaper om ATEX inte är tillräckliga för att tillgodose alla kunders behov. Målet med detta arbete var att ta fram en manual för de regler kring explosionsförebyggande föreskrifter som gäller företagets produkter. Detta arbete har resulterat i en manual i form av en lathund för arbete med ATEX anpassad för PSTs verksamhet..

Dagens föränderliga och flexibla arbete har medfört möjligheter att självständigt planera sina arbetsuppgifter och arbetstider. Men det kan också utgöra ett alltmer gränslöst arbete där arbete och privatliv flyter ihop, vilket kan resultera i ett alltmer stressat liv (Andersson 1993). För kvinnorna som har huvudansvaret för hem och familj kan dagens arbetsliv medföra en svprare gränsdradning mellan arbete och familj än tidigare eftersom fler kvinnor idag gör karriär Vår studie är en kvalitativ undersökning dädr vi har intervjuat elva kvinnliga mellanchefer med barn. Vår frågeställning var är: Hur lyckas kvinnliga mellanchefer att förena arbete och familj?Vi har använt oss av ....

This master thesis aims to examine how public libraries in Sweden are practically and ideologically equipped to deal with e-books, outside of the dominant distributor Elib. The study also aims to find out what?s required of the book market and the public libraries to make further progress in the question of e-books. In Sweden e-books are still representing only a small amount of all the library loans and an even smaller amount of the commercial book market.The methodological and theoretical ground for the thesis is Grounded Theory, and the survey is based on interviews with publishers, librarians and distributors.The conclusions of this thesis are that the public libraries lack resources to invest in e-books, and that they also lack in knowledge about the media and its readers. It also exposes that both internal and external collaboration efforts need to be further developed.

Syftet med denna studie var att belysa unga människors tankar om begreppet attraktivt arbete rent generellt och vad ett attraktivt arbete inom äldreomsorgen innefattar. Vad kännetecknar ett attraktivt arbete och anses äldreomsorgen uppfylla dessa krav på vad ett attraktivt arbete innehåller. Intervjuer med omvårdnadspersonal från hemtjänst och äldreboenden har genomförts. Studien innefattar även intervjuer med gymnasieelever från omvårdnadsprogrammet och belyser deras förväntningar och erfarenheter på ett arbete inom äldreomsorgen. Studien visar att ett arbete inom äldreomsorgen är ett arbete som anses bra men att vissa förbättringar ändå är nödvändiga för att säkerställa framtidens personalförsörjning.
