Librarians are vicious monsters, but canalso recommend a good read : En analys av alternativa bibliotekarieframställningar iscience fiction-litteratur

Uppsatsens syfte är att studera framställningar av manliga Bibliotekarier i science fiction-litteratur, analysera vad dessa framställningar förmedlar för föreställningar om bibliotek och biblioteksverksamhet, samt att analysera de manliga Bibliotekariernas koppling till maskuliniteter. Titlarna som analyseras är fyra romaner; Audrey Niffeneggers Tidsresenärens hustru, Dmitrij Gluchovskijs Metro 2033, Jules Vernes Paris i tjugonde seklet, och Jasper Ffordes Uppslukad ? En fängslande historia om Torsdag Nesta, samt en podcast; Welcome to Night Vale och en tv-serie; Buffy ? the vampire slayer. Resultatet av analysen är att ett flertal av de valda titlarna ger enövervägande negativ bild av biblioteket som en exkluderande samhällsinstitution samt är vidarerelaterat till de sätt på vilka Bibliotekarierna i de olika titlarna konstrueras som maskulina. Tre olika kategorier framkom särskilt tydligt under analysen; bibliotekarien som monster/mutant, bibliotekarien som sexuellt avvikande, och bibliotekarien som lärdomsgigant och väktare av kunskapen.

Kommunikation och samarbete. En studie av bibliotekariers och lärares förhållningssätt gentemot varandra gällande samarbete

The purpose of this paper has been to study the relationships and attitudes of a few teachers and librarians as to their co-operation in a combined public and upper secondary school library and to find out what circumstances there may be to exert an influence on their work. The paper has been based upon qualitative interviews with upper secondary school teachers and librarians as well as on studies of literature relating to our issue. We believe there may be different approaches to the learning process, as these are the relations and attitudes of two professions from different trades. That is why our point of departure has been Roger Säljö's theory about learning and, in our analysis, a few of Jean Donham van Deusen's ideas of joint planning and flexible timetabling. All respondents agreed that co-operation could be better, but the teachers were of the opinion that it must not interfere with their time.

Informationskompetens som mål i högskoleutbildningen: Inställning hos ledning, lärare och bibliotekarier vid en mindre högskola

The aim of this Master thesis is to study how management, teachers and librarians at the university college Swedish school of sport and health sciences (GIH) view information literacy (IL) as a standard in higher education. I have used a sociocultural theoretical perspective, as the focus being on co-operation within the institutional context. The following questions are focused on: Of what importance are the control documents concerning IL as a standard in the educational program? How do the respondents view the value of, and the responsibility for, IL as a standard in the educational program? What are the conditions for co-operation at GIH to reach the standards of the higher education act? The methodology used is qualitative case study. Six qualitative interviews were carried out in order to describe the attitudes of the management, teachers and librarians related to this subject.

?Att vara där människor är? En kvalitativ studie av sex folkbiblioteks användande av sociala medier

The objective of this bachelor thesis is to examine how some larger Swedish public libraries reason about the use of social media as part of their activities and outreach. To attain the purpose three research-questions were established; why does the public library use social media? How does the public library utilize social media? What extra value do librarians believe that use of social media can add to the libraries? function? The methodology used in the thesis is qualitative interviews. Six interviews were conducted with librarians in charge of social media at their respective libraries. Five of the interviews were conducted by telephone and one by email.

Tradition, förändring och splittring - En diskursanalytisk studie av bibliotekariers yrkesidentitet

The aim of this master thesis is to examine the identity of librarians. We have done this by conducting a text analysis where we have analysed texts produced by DIK, the major union of librarians, and by Library and Information Science departments in Sweden. The material we have analysed is texts produced in the aim of introducing and marketing the librarian occupation and education. The aim of this study is to find out how the identity of the librarian is expressed in this material. We have conducted the text analysis by adopting the critical discourse analyst Norman Fairclough´s theories.

Hur kvalitetsgranskar man ett skolbibliotek?

Den senaste tiden har en livlig debatt förts angående skolans kvalitet. Som en del av dennadebatt ingår skolbiblioteket samt dess roll i kvalitetsarbetet för att eleverna ska kunna nå deuppsatta målen. Genom en lagändring 2011 flyttades lagtexten om skolbiblioteket tillSkollagen och blev då en del av Skolinspektionens granskningsarbete.Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur Skolinspektionen säkerställer attskolbibliotekslagen efterföljs. För att göra detta har intervjuer genomförts med rektorer dådessa är huvudmän över skolbibliotek samt med personal på Skolinspektionen då det är desom granskar skolbiblioteken. Vi har utgått från tidigare forskning som vi delade in tvåområden: skolbibliotekens roll samt kriterier som styr granskning.

SAB och Dewey vid Uppsala universitetsbibliotek : En attitydundersökning bland bibliotekarier på 6 biblioteksenheter

The Library of Uppsala University has decided to change their classification system from the Swedish SAB system to the American Dewey Decimal Classification. One of the main reasons for this decison was that Kungliga biblioteket also has made an exchange between these systems. Due to that, the national bibliography of Sweden classifies Swedish documents according to Dewey Decimal Classification and the SAB system is no longer maintained. A transition to Dewey Decimal Classification will enable Swedish librarians to import foreign catalouge posts and classification codes and will provide them with a common standard between their libraries and other libraries due to the use of the same international classification system. It is disputed whether the Dewey Decimal Classification is equally suitable for all subjects.

Kulturförmedlare eller pedagog?: Yrkesroller och yrkesidentiteter på integrerade folk- och gymnasiebibliotek

In these days we can witness a growing number of combined school and public libraries in Sweden. It can be explained as an economy measure or as an attempt to develop the library work. The aim of this thesis is to picture how working in combined libraries affects high school librarians? own apprehensions of their professional identity. The results are based on in-depth interviews made with four high school librarians, working not only towards the students but also the public.

The purpose of this master?s thesis is to study attitudes and standpoints among a few librarians towards literature with state supported distribution provided by the Swedish Arts Council. By qualitative interviews with librarians at five different public libraries, the thesis examines which attitudes that flourish concerning the titles, how the circular of books is treated, where the titles belong on the literature map and if the system is producing a standardisation of this literature and if the conception of quality is relevant. We also study how the librarians relate to intentions of the Swedish Art Council with the distributed titles and how they regard their availability. Our theoretical framework is based on Hans Hertel?s model of five literary circulations and Theodor W.

The main purpose of this Master's thesis is to investigate the new librarians' experiences and skills in the context of their present work situation and the ongoing debate about the librarian's professional identity and status. Further, the authors wanted to find out whether the new librarians' experiences and knowledge developed throughout their education correspond to the requirements of the employers. Finally, they try to assess theimpact of the "academization" of the library schools on the status of the profession. The data consist of an opinion poll. The investigation is based on questionnaires distributed as a web survey.

This thesis is about new technology in academic libraries in the form of Patron Driven Acquisition. As libraries take part in the digital era, a new model of patron driven acquisition has emerged. This model gives users more influence over the libraries electronic book collection. The collection development model changes libraries traditional role in the collection development process, from collecting for the future to the present.The purpose of this thesis is to gain knowledge of what acquisition librarians think about the effects of PDA on the collection, the acquisitions role and the cost structure. The theoretical framework relies on Christensen?s theory about disruptive technology and was used to interpret outcomes of new technology in libraries and its staff.Five librarians from four different Swedish university libraries were interviewed using a qualitative semi-structured method to carry out the investigative part of this thesis.

The aim of this essay was to investigate what images are conveyed through Swedish daily press and to discuss the possible consequences of these images for librarians and users of the library. What discourses can be identified in the material; how are librarians and their profession described in the press; what attitude can be detected towards librarians and in what contexts are librarians discussed, are questions that were asked. Discourse analysis was used as theory and method. A discourse can be understood as a certain way of talking about and understanding the world. 55 articles from the period of January 1^st 2002 to March 7^th 2003 were analysed with the help of a model.

Organiserat samarbete mellan lärare och kollegor inom IKT-baserad distansundervisning

Abstrakt Detta är en hermeneutisk studie där vi använt oss av intervjuer som datainsamlingsmetod. Vi har studerat samarbete ur ett lärarperspektiv i distansundervisning på Blekinge Tekniska högskola (BTH). Vad vi fann var att lärarna och deras kollegor efterfrågade ett mer organiserat samarbete dem emellan. Två former för ett ökat samarbete är, samarbete i team och i distansnätverk, vilka kan existera parallellt med varandra. I nätverket ingår alla personer som arbetar med distanskurser, allt ifrån lärare till tekniker.

Fortfarande idag sätter ordet JV skräck i många utländska investerare på grund av GPAC och andra misslyckade JV i Kina . Kina tänker inte göra omvärlden några gratistjänster, utan vill dra nytta av de fördelar man har av den stora billiga arbetskraften. Kineserna är väl medvetna om sin potential och kommer inte att ingå JV som inte passar dem. Motiven för kineserna att ingå JV med utländska företag är i grund och botten bara steg i utvecklingen av bilindustrin. När de väl fått den kunskap de behöver för att kunna gå vidare själva kommer de nog inte att visa någon välvilja mot sina gamla partners.
