The theoretical focus in this master is information retrieval (IR), and especially the part of IR that includes interactivity. This research is by some researchers called IIR. Our principal aim was to examine if search engines on the WWW are taking advantage of research results from IIR research. A way to do this is to look at the application of special features, in this case query expansion (QE) and relevance feedback (RF). Both these methods aim for a better matching of documents and the searchers information need.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate in what ways librarians and schoolteachers can co-operate and combine their professional skills in order to help and motivate children with reading and writing disabilities, and how audio books can be useful in this work. The main source of information is interviews with teachers from ten schools in the province of Scania, southern Sweden. Those teachers, their schools and their local libraries all took part in a project spanning from 1993 to 1996, aiming at increasing the use of audio books in combination with the corresponding printed versions in work regarding the here addressed problem. This study was made with a qualitative empirical method supported by a normative theory belonging to the new institutional theory school. There are no statistical conclusions in the report.

The main purpose of this thesis has been to investigate librarians opinions about the need for and possibility to use non-roman script in library catalogues. We have also investigated the routines of handling materials in non-roman scripts in two Swedish libraries. The investigation was made in the light of the recent shift in character set in the Swedish National Library Catalogue Libris. This change will enable use of multiple writing systems in the future.Our findings are that a multicultural society requires special consideration to the needs of citizens who speak other languages than the majority of the population. This becomes difficult when the languages spoken have a different writing system than the one used by the majority.

This two year master thesis reviews the possibilities for how public libraries and geriatric care can cooperate on a long-term basis. By using a project called Prosit the study shows which approaches and actions that worked in order to create this kind of successful collaboration, and which ones that didn't.The theoretical framework consists of the sociocultural perspective developed by psychologist Roger Säljö in meaning to emphasize how these two departments can learn from each other. The theory also underlines the fact that both public libraries and geriatric care can develop their own way of improving the elderly?s daily life by working together. The thesis method is qualitative and based on Virginia Braun and Victoria Clarke?s thematic analysis.

Målet med denna uppsats var att göra en bibliometrisk undersökning av forskningsområdet skogsvetenskap, närmare bestämt publiceringen inom denna. Jag valde att göra en bibliometrisk undersökning inte bara på grund av att jag tycker att det är intressant och jag ville lära mig mer om hur man går tillväga rent praktiskt utan också för att jag tror att det är en viktig kompetens för framtida biblioteksarbete. Ett sådant kunnande kanske främst är viktig om man vill jobba i ett universitets/forskningsbibliotek men även på folkbibliotek görs ibland mindre bibliometriska undersökningar. Även på företag med egna bibliotek eller informationscenter kan kunnande om bibliometriska metoder vara en viktig kompetens. Undersökningen gjordes genom analyser av material hämtat från Web of Science. Datan jag laddade ner var artiklar publicerade mellan åren 2007 och 2010 och som fanns i Web of Sciencekategorin forestry.

Hammarkullen tillkom under slutet av 1960- talet och början av 1970. Området har formats av den tidens ideal med breda vägar och uppdelade funktioner. I Hammarkullen har få förändringar och förbättringar gjorts sedan det blev till. Genom att studera området, hur det ser ut idag, kvaliteter och brister, samt genom analyser har jag valt att främst fokuserat mitt arbete på: ? komplettering av bebyggelse ? utveckling av den yttre miljön ? utveckling av torget Huvuddelen i mitt examensarbete ligger i planförslaget.

Det finns ett stort utbud av benersättningsmaterial att använda vid sinuslyft i samband med implantatbehandling. Autogent bentransplantat har länge varit ett populärt val trots nackdelar som t.ex. postoperativ smärta från donationsområdet och/eller eventuell sjukhusinläggning. Användning av substitut till autogent bentransplantat skulle kunna vara en lösning för att eliminera dessa problem. Vid utvärdering av implantatbehandling och tolkning av resultat används olika mätparametrar som t.ex.

The main purpose of this Master´s thesis, is to describe and discuss what constitutes the library collaboration between The Swedish Royal Library and the National Library of Guatemala, but also to analyse which effects the support has for public library work in Guatemala. The data consists of interviews and direct-observations during 2 months of fieldwork in Guatemala, Central America. The analysis is based on literature studies combined with the answers from the respondents and other results from the field work. We have found above all three factors to be of importance in the constitution of the collaboration between the National Library in Guatemala and the Swedish Royal Library: the Swedish library discourse, the Swedish aid discourse and the relationship between the people involved with the project. The library discourse in Sweden and in Guatemala emphasizes different aspects of the work.

AbstractIn this master´s thesis I primarily investigate librarians´ and teachers´ conceptions of collaboration between libraries and schools and their conceptions of childrens´reading. Secondary I investigate the contents of laws concerning libraries and schools and also the school curriculums concerning the subject field of the Swedish language. My theoretical point of departure is that of social constructionism. I use two models in my analysis. One is a model of collaboration created by Patricia Montiel-Overall, called TLC (Teacher Librarian Collaboration), which grades collaboration from the lowest level (A) to the highest (D).

Informationsskärmar återfinns idag på en mängd olika platser: i butiker, bibliotek, buss- och tågterminaler och liknande. Informationsskärmar är på frammarsch och spås bli en ännu vanligare syn framöver. Oftast är dessa skärmar helt statiska, det vill säga det går inte att interagera med dem och i de fall de tillåter interaktion handlar det främst om pekskärmar. Pekskärmstekniken har dock vissa tillkortakommanden och det finns ett behov av att undersöka nya sätt att interagera med datorer och informationsskärmar. En teknik som funnits länge i olika former men fram tills nyligen varit relativt otillgänglig för vanliga konsumenter är eye tracking (ögonspårning), en teknik för att spåra ögonrörelser hos människor.Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur eye tracking kan kombineras med en informationsskärm.

The purpose of this essay is to investigate the construction of sexuality in Swedish school libraries through the lens of Foucault?s concept of power/knowledge. Five libraries were investigated, using two kinds of method: discourse analysis of titles, classification codes and subject headings of sex education materials, and qualitative interviews with librarians working at each of the libraries. Most sex education materials were classified within the medicine section, illustrating the continued authority of medical discourse in matters concerning sexuality. Books for younger audiences were often written for either boys or girls, reproducing a binary understanding of gender.

The focus of this two year master?s thesis in Library- and Information science is the study of two Swedish Public Library buildings with the examples Lomma and Halmstad. The main goal and purpose of the thesis is to try to uncover which views and values of the public library are expressed in the examined libraries; and to what extent these views manifests are shown in its architecture.The theoretical framework is based on Raymond Williams?s cultural concepts of effective, dominant culture and the two extremities of this culture, called residual and emergent cultures. A second aspect is Yi-Fu Tuans concepts of Space and Place.

Användbarhet är en term som används för att bedöma kvaliteten hos ett gränssnitt. God användbarhet är viktig då den ger en ökad produktivitet och andra affärsfördelar i form av färre misstag och bättre kvalitet på slutprodukten. Användbarhet är en viktig designprincip men är en svår egenskap att uppfylla hos applikationer. Studien behandlar användbarhet ur olika perspektiv, dels det teoretiska genom litteraturgenomgång, dels det praktiska genom intervjuer och observationer. Syftet var att förklara vad användbarhet är, hur det bedöms och vad man kan göra för att bygga in egenskapen i applikationer man utvecklar.

This master thesis deals with the problem of integrated libraries. The number of integrated public and school libraries has significantly increased over time. These libraries are integrated for different reasons, most often because of economic considerations. The goal of the thesis is to investigate librarians´ understanding and perceptions of the professional role in this type of integrated libraries. I have investigated how librarians see and interpret their own professional role, and what factors influence their perceptions in an integrated library.The three main questions are: How do the librarians explain their professional role in an integrated library? How does their professional role change because of the fact that they work in an integrated environment? What factors, according to the librarians, influence and/or change the professional role mostly? The data has been collected through interviews with eight librarians at integrated libraries.

Under de senaste åren har Internettelefonin varit på frammarsch, och i takt med att tekniken mognat har fler och fler börjat se den som ett alternativ till att ringa via telefonnätet. Förutom att det är billigare att ringa över det förstnämnda, så erbjuder Internettelefonin också en rad revolutionerande tjänster. Det är dock troligt att telefonnätet kommer att få tjänstgöra i många år till, och det erbjuder fortfarande överlägset bäst stabilitet och har stor acceptans. Om de två telefoninätverken ska existera sida vid sida, med varsina användarbaser är det lämpligt om de kan fås att samverka, så att användare av det ena kan ringa användare av det andra, och vice versa. Detta kan göras med en VoIP/PSTN-gateway, som översätter kontrollinformation och rösttrafik mellan de två nätverken.Uppsatsen handlar om det arbete vi har utfört år TietoEnator i Karlstad.
