Studies of the information needs of library patrons are necessary in order for the library to serve the community. Alas, studies of non-heterosexual persons are rare in the field of Library and Information Science in Sweden. This study aims at examining the information situation of women in same-sexed parenthood by means of analysing their situation as norm-breaking. The study is done through examining the specific information needs of this group, how they seek and receive information, what barriers they encounter and what function the library has in this information situation. A queer theoretical approach to heteronormativity in combination with McKenzie?s two-dimensional model of information seeking is used to perform a qualitative analysis of the material.

The aim of this thesis is to define digital library, and to investigate a relation between the construction of a digital library and user needs. The main questions to be answered are: 1 What criteria was used when constructing a digital library, particularly concerning issues like purpose, function, design, supply, services, resources and future development of the digital library? 2 How do the digital library system designers and system builders criteria correspond with those of postgraduate researchers? And what factors affect the use? A digital library is an enterprise that gives access to information stored digitally and directly available on the net. The crucial is that the enterprise has a control over collection of information and responsibility to make it available to a defined group of users. In order to investigate the relation between the construction of the digital library and user needs, I have interviewed five key people involved with the work with the digital library and twenty postgraduate researchers from the Gothenburg University.

Syftet med denna studie var att utifrån en fiktiv fallbeskrivning undersöka vilken information och vilket stöd ensamlevande kvinnor som har en lindrig utvecklingsstörning får före, under och efter en graviditet i Bollnäs kommun. Vi intervjuade fyra olika verksamheter som kommer i kontakt med dessa kvinnor och vi använde oss av en halvstrukturerad kvalitativ intervjuform. Resultatet av studien visade att den förberedande och förebyggande informationen till kvinnor med lindrig utvecklingsstörning som ännu inte blivit gravida är knapphändiga hos alla de intervjuade verksamheterna. Under graviditet erbjuder ett par av verksamheterna kvinnorna stöd i form av samtal och praktisk föräldrautbildning. När barnet är fött finns till exempel olika typer av stödinsatser som beviljas av Socialtjänsten och stödet skräddarsys efter behov och problematik.

Bakgrund: I Sverige har 325 000 människor diagnosen typ 2-diabetes. Sjukdomen ställer stora krav på individen. För att sjuksköterskan ska ge en god omvårdnad behövs kunskaper om patientens individuella behov av stöd. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva patienters upplevelser av sjuksköterskans stöd vid typ 2-diabetes.Metod: Studien genomfördes som en allmän litteraturstudie där nio vetenskapliga artiklar kvalitetsgranskades och analyserades.Resultat: Patienters upplevelser av sjuksköterskans stöd kategoriserades som emotionellt, informativt och värderande stöd. Viktiga faktorer i sjuksköterskans stöd var gemensamt engagemang, tillit, lindring av bördan, att bli sedd som en individ, kunskap genom information, dialog, kontroll och bekräftelse.

Syftet med min undersökning har varit att undersöka vad sfi-lärare identifierar som specialpedagogiska behov och resurser i sin verksamhet. Studien grundar sig på intervjuer med sex sfi-lärare i tre kommuner. Informanterna, som alla arbetar med kursdeltagare med kort eller ingen skolbakgrund blev tillfrågade att identifiera specialpedagogiska behov och resurser i sin verksamhet. Resultatet visar, att även om det finns en specialpedagog som i någon bemärkelse är knuten till utbildningen, måste sfi-läraren i mångt och mycket använda sin egen erfarenhet och fantasi i den dagliga verksamheten..

The aim of this study is to investigate variations of conceptions among prison librarians, concerning mediation of information from an ethical perspective. We have performed interviews with nine librarians and used the phenomenographic approach when analyzing the material. Sixteen categories of conceptions were found, distributed on four aspects of the phenomenon, the act of mediating information to inmates. The results show a variety of conceptions among the librarians. The four aspects cover conceptions about the inmates as users of the library services in prisons, conceptions about the information need of the inmates, conceptions concerning policies, guidelines and laws and conceptions about information access in the prisons.

Reumatiska systemsjukdomar anses vara ovanligt förekommande. De är kroniska, obotliga och svåra att diagnostisera. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att beskriva upplevelsen av att leva med reumatisk systemsjukdom. En kvalitativ innehållsanalys med manifest ansats användes för att analysera elva vetenskapliga artiklar som ingick i studien. I resultatet framkom att personer upplevde att de fick dålig information om sjukdomen då vårdpersonalen upplevdes som okunniga.

User education is an important aspect of university libraries' service to its users. This Masters' Thesis is about online user education. The aim of this study is to analyse five Swedish online user courses in relation to information literacy and learning theory. The web-sites were explored through textual analyses to find how concepts of information literacy and learning theory are expressed. The theoretical framework is based on Carol C Kuhlthau's three levels of user education, Paul Ramsden's three theories of teaching in higher education and Christine Bruce's different aspects of information literacy.

När ett barn insjuknar i en svår sjukdom är det oundvikligt att föräldrarna påverkas både emotionellt och socialt. Då barnet är i stort behov av sina föräldrar kan det uppstå problem eftersom föräldrarollen ändras i och med att barnet läggs in på sjukhus. Barnsjukvården har gått mot en familjefokuserad vård som är baserad på en nära och kontinuerlig involvering i barnets familj. Genom att vårdpersonalen bygger upp en ömsesidig relation till föräldrarna och deras barn kan de lättare hjälpa dem med deras grundläggande behov. Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva hur föräldrar till barn på sjukhus upplever relationen med vårdpersonalen.

Intranet is today a common technical groupware to communicate in many organisations. People can interact through the Intranet and communicate within the organization and get relevant information according to their workplace. It can be difficult to get everybody to use the Intranet as an information- and communication tool. This causes problems when people want to reach out with information. With these thoughts we entered our work at Luftfartsverket at Arlanda airport.

Information about the risks involved shall be distributed to the people living in the area nearby to potentially dangerous installation. Swedish law stipulates strict requirements on what information should be supplied, but the law itself does not give any guidance on presentation. The main purpose of the study is to give recommendations on how to improve the information brochures. Within the study, eight people working with risk information have been interviewed and seven different risk information brochures have been studied. Also, a theoretical analysis and a practical experiment were performed using brochures from two municipalities.

The main purpose of this master thesis is to investigate the information seeking of lay politicians, part-time politicians and professional politicians in connection with the possible upcoming fusion of the two administrative regions, Västra Götaland and Värmland. The focus of this study has been to study how politicians use and evaluate information and sources of information, and to investigate if there are any differences in how different categories of politicians seek information. Seven politicians were interviewed using semi-structured questions, and a phenomenographic approach was used to analyze the data. In Sweden there are few available studies of how politician seek information, but some international studies have focused on information needs, information sources, selection and evaluation of information. I have used previous research, and data from respondents to compile and analyze my results in three descriptive categories.
