Mot den bakgrunden analyseras säljföretags platsannonser för att visa vad de kommunicerar i syfte att rekrytera personal.

The myth of the user - a study of the user discourse and its visionariesThis study is a discourse analysis of the visions that implicitly are expressed in different texts about user-centered library theory. Denna studie ämnar belysa de två företagen Match och Victoria Milans TV-reklamfilmer. Det primära syftet är att undersöka vilka retoriska grepp Match och Victoria Milan använder sig av i reklamfilmerna för att värva nya betalande medlemmar till webbplatserna. Genom retorisk analys granskas respektive reklamfilm. De retoriska teorier som används är ethos, pathos, logos -triaden och de semiotiska aspekterna denotation och konnotation. I mitt arbete analyserar jag även videoproduktionstekniken för att belysa kameravinklar.

In his master thesis, Johan Jutterström pursues an anti-aesthetic and ethic artistic process. He?s using mainly three different strategies; reasoning through text, composing for ensemble, and solo improvising on the saxophone. Through composing the piece for 12 musicians Trästolen, Jutterström tries to erase himself and his taste from the music. In that endeavor he looks to physics as a catalyst.

Intentionen med denna uppsats var att, genom att göra en semiologisk analys av myten om samerna och deras symbiotiska förhållande till renarna, få klarhet i vilka konsekvenser denna stereotyp har, och har haft, för det samiska folket.   Undersökningen visar inte bara negativa konsekvenser, så som nedvärdering och förskjutning, utan att bilden även har en positiv sida. Idag när myten mer eller mindre avslöjat sig själv, givetvis mycket tack vare mytkonsumenternas ökade intresse och förståelse för ursprungsbefolkningar, blir stereotypen avmytifierad ? d.v.s. den blir åter en symbol för samerna och det samiska. Samerna kan nu själva, i förmedlandet av den egna historien, använda sig av bilden och medverka till att den förändras.   .

Mitt syfte med denna uppsats har varit att undersöka hur tonåringar uppfattar och tolkar reklam. Jag har gjort ett pedagogiskt projekt om reklam som är kopplat till semiotisk bildanalys, reception och perception tillsammans med elever i skolår sju till nio på min partnerskola. Metoder som jag har använt till undersökningen är enkät, intervjuer, lektioner, fältanteckningar och mycket litteratur för att försöka stödja mina teorier. Jag har beskrivit olika metoder och teorianknytningar som förklarar hur reklambilderna är uppbyggda samt på vilket sätt metoderna fungerade i praktiken tillsammans med eleverna med bl.a. Roland Barthes teorier.

The main purpose of this thesis is to discuss what exile writing is and who can be seen as an exile writer. If the word ?exile? is related to forced dislocation, like Paul Tabori and Sopia A. McClennen describes it, who can be viewed as an exile writer? Is Anders Olsson?s definition of an exile writer acceptable or not? Could the The Escape, a future story about exiled Northern Europeans in Myanmar, be classified as exile literature?Another purpose with this text is to describe how a story about exile can be made realistic and tangible to a reader who has not experienced exile.

I feministiska studier är man inte sen med att påpeka att olika typer av kvinnligheter bäddar olika mycket för framgång i samhället. Trots att manligheten rimligen bör vara lika komplicerad talas det sällan om mannen på samma sätt vilket har lett till att många män känt sig knutna till en mansroll de finner svår att leva upp till. Vilken är denna eftersträvansvärda mansroll och vem är egentligen kapabel att uppnå den? Det är dessa funderingar som gjort mig nyfiken på maskulinitetsforskning och som ligger till grund för uppsatsens syfte. Jag har i uppsatsen utgått från att manlighet är en myt för att sedan studera hur denna myt kan tänkas ha konstruerats och omkonstruerats genom åren.

The purpose of this work was to investigate the early medieval view of the Bilical king David through the analysis of ten illuminations found in early medieval manuscripts in which he is depicted playing string instruments. First, a description of medieval manuscripts and king David and string instruments was presented, second, an analysis and a discussion of images as source material and an interpretation of the mythic and symbolic significance that is based on ideas presented by Paul Ricoeurs and Roland Barthes of the ten illuminations followed. The results showed that king David often was portrayed as a musical king, a dancer and a prophet that incarnated wisdom and justice; that king David served as a role-model for the Western regents, and that he was portrayed in an idealised and estethically appealing manner..

What is the relation of image and word, of sentences and pictures? What kind of message does this combination produce when juxtaposed on a single material plane? And how do we read its ?infinite? relation? These are the questions at the center of this inquiry. My main interest concerns the exact nature of the relation between photographic images and textual elements of poetic language when these are juxtaposed in what I call Phototext poetry.The thesis calls into question the conventional reading habits of the conjunction of photographs and texts, and seeks to understand the more complex connections intrinsic to the relation image/word and its material and perceptual play in poetic works. Does a text always ?anchor? the multiple meanings of an image, as Roland Barthes argues? What if the alterations of an image could ?anchor? certain fractions of a poetic, polysemantic textual construct? Is a photograph indifferent to the visual, material permutations of texts that certain contemporary poetic practices produce?I discuss phototextual works and collaborations of various kinds, from Molin fontän [?Molin?s fountain?] (1866) over classic surrealist poetry to language-oriented writing.

De teorier och metoder som anv?nds i den analytiska delen ?r framtagna av Roland Barthes respektive Charles Forceville vid studier av annonser. I den empiriska delen till?mpas semistrukturerade intervjuer. Resultatet av analyserna visar att det i m?lningarna finns budskap som kritiserar konsumtion, klassamh?lle och den hysteri som figurerar inom sk?nhetsbranschen.

According to law all Swedish authorities must express themselves using correct, plain and comprehensible language whenever they communicate with the citizens in order to make it easy to understand what needs to be known to participate in the Swedish democratic society. I would like to explore if there are more tools than the language that could be used to make their communication easier to comprehend, in this case images and stories. In this essay I will investigate the relationship between the written words and the visual components ? images and illustrations ? in brochures from Swedish authorities. I will also try to identify possible narratives in the brochures, and examine the functions of these narratives.

This essay will focus on video and computer game violence. We hope to uncover, with the help of semiotics, according to Barthes design, if this kind of violence can have a negative effect on youth and adolescents. How intense is the violence and how graphic is it?. PEGI is the European measurement for game age limits.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the narrative elements in three of the Swedish artist Karin Mamma Anderssons paintings and try to see what kind of stories that might be hidden in these paintings. I have chosen three different themes as tools for this study. They are: the meaning or the importance of the titles, painting as a medium and the narrative elements or components in the paintings. Furthermore I also use the semiotic method in my analysis based on the ideas of Roland Barthes combined with a feminist theoretical standpoint with a gender perspective. This means my study is based on the reception of these images and what kind of message they might carry.
