The aim of this study was to document treatments of sick and injured reindeer in Tornedalen and the area around Gällivare. I also wanted to find out the basis for the treatments, how they are considered to work and if they agree with established veterinary science. The occurrence of ?folk remedies? was especially studied. In all, 40 reindeer owners were interviewed.

This study is done on behalf of Södra skogsägarna in the autumn of 2012. The main purpose of the study is to get an explanation to why some of the members are passive in their forestry, and how Södra can stimulate them to become more active. To achieve this a questionnaire study was conducted on the members of Södra in the community of Gislaved. The result of the study shows that there are many different factors that influence whether the forest owner is active or not. Examples of those factors are timber prices, the forest owner's objectives and the forest owner's financial situation. The main goal for the forest owners in the survey was to obtain high economic result and to increase the standing timber volume for the next generation.

Den här uppsatsen behandlar genusmarkörer i Axel Törnemans sena konstnärskap. Syftet är att undersöka maskulina och feminina markörer i fyra av konstnärens målningar: Gatans rytm (1916), Gudrun i blått (1917), Mazeppa (1918) och Ungdom (1919). Dessutom diskuteras huruvida konstverkens motiv har förbindelser med samtida uppfattningar kring könsroller. Frågeställningarna berör först hur en möjlig relation mellan markörerna gestaltas och problematiseras i konstverken, sedan hur detta kan ge perspektiv på tidsperiodens föreställningar om könsroller. Metoden går ut på att först undersöka maskulina och feminina markörer i målningarna, därefter diskuteras möjliga relationer till kontexten.

Secondary schools have for decades debated whether they promote social reproduction which is considered to generate the homogeneous student compositions. The gap between the academic programs and vocational education programs is considered to increase. What in recent years has appeared in research is that the gap is increasing most tend to be in the specific academic program, particularly in science. This paper's intention is to describe the science program at a local level and the pupils who were admitted to the science program autumn 2009 on the basis of an educational sociological perspective. The survey consisted of a census in which all students were given the opportunity to answer a questionnaire.

Examensarbetet handlar om hur tanten framställs I text och på bild i sju bilderböcker skrivna av Elsa Beskow. Böckerna är utgivna mellan 1918 och 1945. I böckerna figurerar fem olika tanter i texten och dessa finns också på bild. Syftet med arbetet är att kunna svara på hur tanten framställs som litterär gestalt. Jag har använt följande frågor för att kunna svara på detta.

The following essay describes a study made in Sweden in the autumn of 2010 at Södertörn University. The main purpose with this study is to find out and describe how people´s own understanding of being multilingual has influenced them. The objective behind this is to create a wider understanding for the phenomena. Therefore, the phenomenological perspective is used to describe the subjective reflection of a phenomena, in this case multilingualism. A qualitative method is being used for data gathering, implying conversational interviews with six multilingual people born in the 1970s and 1980s.The results show that the people interviewed mostly use their mother tongue in conversations with their parents and relatives today.

HaparandaTornio har varit med om en snabb tillväxt tack vare Ikeas etablering 2006. Möbeljätten blev startskottet på en ny och positiv era. Handeln exploderade och marknadsföringen har till stor del kretsat kring denna näring, men människorna stannar inte i den utsträckning som man vill. Syftet med mitt arbete har varit att ge förslag på hur man skulle kunna skapa en ny bild av regionen för att locka besökare och stärka vi-känslan hos invånarna. Med detta som utgångspunkt valde jag att förmedla regionens unika historia genom ett antal fiktiva karaktärer som har anknytning till denna tid och befinner sig i HaparandaTornio under första världskriget.

Given that the oil prices have risen and the environmental regulations has become more stringent, the interest in operating efficiency has increased. The project has investigated the possibility of producing electricity from waste heat generated in the diesel process. One technique to utilize and convert energy into electricity is the ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle). This process is based on the Rankine process (the steam process), the difference from the traditional Rankine process is that instead of water as a working medium, an organic substance is used. The main component used in the process is a evaporator, a turbine, a condenser and a pump.

This study is focused on some individuals' experience of the concept of culture in their everyday life. Some questions about culture were asked to some persons living in a small village in the isle of Gotland and some persons in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, in the autumn in 2007 in a field study.The study showed that peopele tend to shape their own life world in the continuous activity in their near surroundings, in the garden and in reading literature and listening to music. There were some differences in the life world depending on where they lived,  in the country side or in town. Urban life has more offers as to popera and theatres but negatively more violence and stress.A study of literature on the ethnological concept of culture is included. The answers of the individuals also led to different topics such as nostalgia, mind, fear, feelings, body and soul which were enlightened by scientist from the respective fields..

I have done a case-study about building a new stable for slaughter pigs at a farm close to Kalmar. The farm is able to supply the breeding with cereals and it has enough area to spread the manure on. The most important factors to gain profit, is the cost for building the stable, the price of the feeding-stuff and the growth of the pigs. The discount from the slaughter-house was less important than I thought from the beginning, and it?s a factor that is hard to influence. With the new production of slaughter-pig and cattle that already exist on the farm, the farm will get a well-functioned rotation of crops with lye and autumn rape as interruption-crop.

Floran av militärteoretiska verk är mycket omfattande och varierad avseende de idéer somframförs. Samtidigt har många debattörer ifrågasatt värdet av sjökrigsteori och dess påverkan påoperationerna. Man kan ifrågasätta om personer i position att påverka operationernasgenomförande läser litteratur om sjökrigsteori och om de i så fall applicerar dessa tankar. Syftetmed denna uppsats är att undersöka i vilken utsträckning teoretiserande kring sjökrig förefaller hanågon inverkan på krigs förande och hur sjökrigsoperationer bedrivs. De frågeställningar somavses besvaras är: vilka idéer kan sägas utgöra grunden för Corbetts och Mahans respektive teorierom sjökrig och i vilken utsträckning går det att återfinna dessa teoretikers tankar hos deundersökta befattningshavarna i samband med sjökrigsoperationerna under det första världskriget?Detta avses göras genom att analysera Corbetts och Mahans utgivna verk för att skapa en bild avderas huvudsakliga tankar.

This master's thesis examines the possibilities of correction and change in a classification scheme, with regard to the changes that occur in the world the classification system intends to describe.Applying a comparative method and classification theory, the classification of the example of the former Yugoslavia (1918-1941, 1945-1991), its republics and successor states, and the languages, formerly known as Serbo-Croatian are examined through a comparison of the main classes and divisions of language, geography, and history, in Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), and Klassifikationssystem för svenska bibliotek [Classification for Swedish Libraries] (SAB). Eight editions of DDC, from 1876 to 2014, are compared to seven editions of SAB, from 1921 to 2013. The editions have been selected in order to show the changes prior to, and following, the First World War, changes after the Second World War, and changes following the collapse of Yugoslavia in 1991.The examination shows that both systems have updated their editions according to the changes in former Yugoslavia over the years. DDC has well constructed facet schedules, especially Table 2 concerning geography, but fails, in some cases, to construct a logic and hierarchical structure for the republics and languages of Yugoslavia, partly due to the fixed classes and divisions that survive from the very first edition of DDC from 1876, but also as a result of the decimal notation, and its limitations, itself.SAB seeks to construct a hierarchically logic and equal scheme for the languages, areas, and states of the former Yugoslavia. Although the facets for geography and chronology aren't as developed as the ones in DDC, the overall result is that of a logically consistent and hierarchically clear classification, with short notation codes, thanks to the alphabetic mixed notation, which allows more subdivisions than the numerals and the pure notation of DDC.This study is a two years master's thesis in Archive, Library and Museum studies..
