The aim of this Master's thesis is to investigate the importance of subject expertise for academic librarians in Skåne. Virtually all librarians in Sweden have studied other subjects besides library and information science (LIS) before becoming librarians, and in this thesis we ask what happens to this expertise. How many librarians can be said to have a good background in the subjects they are working with? Do academic librarians use their subject knowledge on the job? Does it make a difference what subject one has studied when it comes to job opportunities? What do librarians themselves think of the importance of subject expertise? We are also interested in finding out how subject expertise fits in with the growing professionalization of librarianship.A quantitative questionnaire was sent to 195 academic librarians at four different institutes of higher education in Skåne. A total of 107 librarians answered questions about their LIS education, subject background and current job as well questions on how important they perceived a subject background to be for themselves and for academic librarians in general.

Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka den hälsorelaterade livskvaliteten hos elever på högstadiet samt hur denna förhåller sig till elevernas socioekonomiska status och upplevelse av kontroll. 154 elever från fyra olika kommunala skolor i Sverige besvarade ett formulär gällande deras hälsa, livskvalitet och känsla av kontroll. Eleverna delades in i olika grupper, hög/låg-SES, beroende på medelinkomsten i deras kommun. Resultatet visar på en signifikant skillnad i elevernas HRQoL. Högre grad av kontroll visades vara förknippat med bättre hälsa.

The Iranian artist Shirin Neshat has been living in self-imposed exile since the late 1970s, as she chose not to return to her home country following the ?79 Islamic Revolution. Through her works Neshat examines Iran before and after the revolution and follows political and civil transformations through strong photographs of women in her country of birth.  My own use of the term exile deals with the analysis of the state of exile in relation to artistic work as a globalized and underlying motivation for art and artists. The new definition of exile is analyzed in relation with the artist?s photographs and the verbal and visual statements.

That is the only way for them to make their own decisions about political issues, and it is only possible as long as the citizens have access to relevant and reliable information. However, this is not always the case within the European Union, since it is often difficult to get a hold of different documents of the institutions, and since the civil servants to a great extent are forbidden to give away any information..

Gentrifiering är ett begrepp som beskriver den ekonomiska och sociala förändringen som infinner sig när en stadsdel uppgraderas, från att ha en låg status till att få en högre status. En gentrifieringsprocess kan generera positiva effekter till en stadsdel och dess invånare genom att tillväxten och servicen ökar. Men gentrifiering kan också skapa kännbara konsekvenser för de boende som blir undanträngda från sina hem på grund av ökade hyror. Gentrifiering har länge varit ett stort forskningsämne inom discipliner så som etnologi, sociologi, geografi och kulturgeografi.Statsvetenskapen har däremot ägnat gentrifieringen förvånande liten uppmärksamhet.Uppsatsens syfte är därför att inleda en teoriutveckling av gentrifieringsbegreppetutifrån ett statsvetenskapligt maktperspektiv. Genom att kritiskt granska tidigaregentrifieringsforskning från maktperspektivet drar jag slutsatsen att tolkningsföreträde och inflytande är två centrala begrepp som statsvetare bör ta fasta på i en statsvetenskaplig teoriutveckling som fokuserar på gentrifiering..

Medborgarinflytande i kommunala planeringsprocesser har aktualiserats bland annat på grund av att det finns en önskan att göra dessa processer mer effektiva och demokratiska. Vi undersöker hur socioekonomiska skillnader bland medborgare påverkar deras möjligheter till inflytande i dessa planeringsprocesser. I en fördjupad studie vill vi se hur en kommun, där dessa skillnader finns, skulle kunna hantera kommunikation och medborgarinflytande utifrån denna aspekt. En enkätundersökning har gjorts i Kristianstad stad med avsikten att undersöka personers socioekonomiska status kontra medborgarinflytande. Vi har också använt resultaten för att kunna föra en diskussion kring medborgarinflytande på orterna Åhus och Tollarp i Kristianstad kommun.

The task of this project was to build an computer processing system for pressureregulation, in which the pressure loss over the open hydrolicvalve should be kept as low as possible. By using an cross connected proportional directional valve the valve problem could be solved. The control- and regulationproblem for the pressureregulation system was solved by using the DAQ- card NI6035E from National Instruments and the computerprogram Automatic Pressure Control 1.0 which has been software developed and written in Visual Basic. The final result showed that correct processvarible was obtained in 0,5 seconds, when the setpoint was changed in the testarea 0 - 2,5 MPa..

In order to reduce the price for, and improve the performance of automatic control systems for magnetization of synchronus generators, the possibilities of using a PC based software PLC system, Programmable Logic Controller, has been investigated. The result is a system based on the CoDeSys software PLC with runtime environment from 3S-Software, communicating with external units via Modbus fieldbus. System price is reduced from ?5000 to ?2000 and system processing speed is reduced from 10 ms for a Siemens S7 PLC to 4 ms with the CoDeSys PLC system though unsolved problems with runtime seizure caused by improper settings in the PC BIOS..

The purpose of this bachelor?s thesis is to examine whether there was an elite on Gotland during Roman Iron Age or not. To explain this focus has been put on the roman goods. The contexts in which the roman artifacts are found indicate that they can be tied to what might have been an elite on Gotland during Roman Iron Age. They might also have been used as means of expressing wealth and prestige.

The aim of this essay was to investigate the effects of adopting a site to the UNESCOs World Heritage List. Thefocus laid on the example of the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland, which was the most recent Swedishadoption. With the question of impact of the World Heritage List in mind, the region of Hälsingland became themain focus. The study was made with particular focus on Gästgivars, a farm located in the municipality ofBollnäs, to which the theory of social life of things was applied. The result of the World Heritage was, in the caseof Gästgivars, an increase of the cultural value and social status.This case study has shown that the impact of the nomination has not been immense, but suggests that longtermeffects can show.

Syftet med föreliggande rapport är att analysera samernas politiskt-geografiska aspirationer samt att relatera dessa till Sametingets nuvarande myndighet. Analysen görs utifrån formeln rap/SAI. Recognition (r), access (a) och participation (p) kräver inga geografiska arrangemang medan separation (S), autonomi (A) och independence (I) kräver geografiska avgränsningar. Vilka uttalade aspirationer framförs då av samerna i denna studie? Den slutsats som studien visar på är att samernas krav kan sammanfattas med ap/A.

Pyometra is a common and life threatening disease of intact bitches. The disease is caused by a hormonal influence on the uterus in combination with a bacterial infection. The most common treatment is ovariohysterectomy, but several medical options are available to maintain fertility or avoid surgery and anaesthesia. Drugs that can be used for medical treatment are for example progesterone-receptor antagonists, prostaglandins and dopamine agonist. The present study focused on treatment with the progesterone-receptor antagonistaglepristone in combination with antimicrobial therapy.

Background: Patients with cervical spinal cord injuries are often dependent on a mechanical ventilator due to the damage on the innervation to breathing musculature. During rehabilitation they have to be trained to regain own breathing. This unweaning process may give respiratory complications, which are main causes to morbidity and death. These respiratory complications are traditionally treated in an intensive care unit (ICU), which means that the patients have to return back to these emergency units.Aim: To investigate number, length and causes of returns to intensive care units and the length of the weaning process. Further, to compare if a multidisciplinary approach to the weaning process may reduce ICU returns and to shorten the weaning process.

The aim for this study was to find out what strategies women use to not react against inequality and sexist prejudice. In the study I used a critical realistic approach through, primary, the social ontology presented by Margaret S. Archer. The study focus on both the women?s construction of femininity and their construction of masculinity and what directions it constitutes for the women?s social orientation.
