Nostalgiska Ljud

Det finns ljud som är på väg att försvinna i takt med teknologins utveckling. Dagens ungdomar har aldrig hört ljud från den äldre teknologin, som den äldre generationen har fått växa upp med såsom skrivmaskinen, modemet m.m. Dessa produkter gav ifrån sig ett speciellt ljud som numera inte hörs lika mycket idag. Men vad händer när tekniken utvecklas till den grad att ljud blir en säkerhetsfråga? Förutom teknikljud finns det ljud från förhistoriska och nyligen utdöda djur som forskare har lyckats återskapa genom studier av kvarlevornas anatomi.

This thesis work has been performed on request by SWT (Scandinavia WeldTech AB). SWT manufactures, develop and sell ready to assemble building systems for concrete rafter beam applications. The beams in this system consist of a u-beam that is welded to a flange. To be able to fill the beams with concrete there is holes in the beams top end. The holes are made in a ?punching machine?.  These holes are cut out and the remaining steel piece is bent down in the u-beam.

This master thesis investigates the possibilities of using GPS-information from trains to create a model of a railway system, register the routes of the the trains and predict how the trains will travel in the railway system.The thesis work was done at Icomera AB which is a company that specializes in internet connected vehicle solutions.We describe how the GPS-information is sent from the trains in the form of samples and investigate limitations and possibilities with the available information. About three million samples from 83 SJ-trains were analysed and the samples were filtered with the intent of removing erroneous information. We here found that about 30 % of the samples from the trains were unreliable.A solution for how the samples from the trains can be used to create a model of the railway system traveled by the trains is presented. We use a large set of historical samples and use cluster nodes and Hermite curves to generate a graph that represent the railway system with stations, nodes and the railway itself. A fully automatic solution is not presented since it did not fit into the time frame of the thesis; instead we created a simple tool which can be used to manually finish the model of the railway system.Furthermore, we describe how the railway system and the samples from the train can be used to register the routes the trains travel.

The population growth and urbanisation in low-income countries bring issues of poor living standards and miserable sanitation conditions onto the agenda. If well-functioning waste management systems were developed, this could master some of the problems. The already existing local informal waste handling system that is common in many low-income countries, needs to be developed with proper sorting and composting solutions to decrease the environmental burden and improve the overall situation in the dense cities. This master?s thesis project is performed with the intention of developing functional decentralised waste management units in the city of Pune, India.

Tillämpningen av genetiskt modifierade (GM) grödor har varit utbredd över hela världen och har ökat markant sedan den första GM-grödan blev tillgänglig för kommersiellt bruk 1996. För att en transgen ska kunna etableras i en vild population så måste tidiga generationer av hybrider överleva för att kunna återkorsas upprepade gånger med den vilda arten, det gör att det genetiska materialet från grödan succesivt reduceras i varje generation tills det att transgenen är det enda DNA från grödan kvar hos avkomman. För att denna process ska vara stabil krävs det en stark selektion för transgenen. Det här sättet för en gen att etableras i en population kallas för introgression och tros ha spelat en stor roll i växternas evolution.

Attityder till arbetslösa -en studie av bakomliggande faktorer

Syfte och frågeställningar: Studien syftar till att undersöka vilka bakomliggande faktorer det finns för attityder till arbetslösa och hur dessa har förändrats under perioden 1986-2002. Utgångspunkten är att undersöka vilken inverkan politiska sympatier, erfarenhet/kontakt med arbetslöshet och reell arbetslöshet har på attityderna till arbetslösa. Den huvudsakliga frågeställningen är vilka samband man kan se mellan dessa tre variabler och attityder till arbetslöshet. Metod och material: Studien bygger på statistiska analyser av studierna Åsikter om den offentliga sektorn 1986 samt Åsikter om den offentliga sektorn och skatterna 1992, 1997 och 2002. Logistisk regression har varit den statistiska metoden som använts för analysen. Huvudresultat: Resultaten visar att erfarenhet och kontakt med arbetslöshet till viss del har samband med attityder till arbetslösa. Den viktigaste faktorn bakom attityderna är dock politiska sympatier.

The aim of this master thesis is to investigate how the OPACs Online Public Access Catalogue used by public libraries have adapted the features and possibilities offered by online catalogues, for the purpose of searching for fiction. This is done by comparing five OPACs to Amazon.com, an online bookstore. The questions investigated are: Have the OPACs developed from the principles of the card catalogue and adapted to the features and possibilities offered by online catalogues, when searching for fiction? Can the library catalogue provide the same features as Amazon.com, when searching for fiction? How do the OPACs use the resources that online catalogues provide when searching for fiction, compared with Amazon.com? The thesis is based on two qualitative studies. The first study presents five OPACs from different library systems and examines which features they have in common with Amazon.com.

Myten om den lata ungdomen : En uppsats om hur ungdomar möter arbetsmarknadens förändrade kvalifikationskrav

Idag pågår debatter i samhället kring den late och oansvarige 90-talisten som bara vill ha kul på jobbet. En förklaring som ges är att 90-talisterna är den curlade generationen som är vana att få problemen undansopade av sina föräldrar. Dessutom antyder forskning att dagens ungdomar inte har tillräcklig kunskap om vad som krävs av dem på arbetsmarknaden idag (Gabric & McFadden, 2001). Forskningen har även visat att de kvalifikationer som efterfrågas mest bland arbetsgivare också brister i uppvisandet hos nyutexaminerade studenter som anställs (Hesketh, 2000). Kvalifikationerna som funnits var de mest eftertraktade arbetsmoral, ansvarstagande, problemlösning, kommunikation och teamwork (Gabric & McFadden, 2001:56; Carnevale & Smith, 2013:493; Bennett, 2002:465; Hesketh, 2000:253).

Kunskapsrelationer och kunskapsföretag : En studie av miljöteknikbranschen i Stockholmsregionen

Det är mycket aktuellt med att ordna mentorprogram för kvinnor och i höst ska regeringen anordna ett sådant för att få fram fler kvinnor i ledande positioner. Det finns en hel del studier som tyder på att organiserade mentorprogram för kvinnor är ett effektivt sätt att öka antalet kvinnor på ledande positioner. Syftet med denna studie är att ta reda på vad Stockholm Zonta VI mentorprogram för kvinnor i karriären har betytt för deltagarna samt vad de anser är orsaken till den låga representationen av kvinnor på ledande positioner. Jag har genom sex semistrukturerade intervjuer med adepter tagit reda på hur de upplevt programmet och vad det givit dem. I min analys har jag tagit hjälp av teorier från genusvetenskapen med Hirdmans (1988) genussystem och organisationsteorier med genusperspektiv av Lindgren (1999) och Wahl m.fl (2001).
