Through this thesis, we want to discuss how the marginalization of people, several precedent political, city planning- and engineering decisions resulted in a catastrophic outcome after hurricane Katrina in New Orleans 2005. We also put forward a case study of the Make It Right Foundation, to demonstrate how the residents of the Lower Ninth Ward are involved in the urban development of their community. We would like to draw attention to the power of citizens and how they can influence the urban development of a community after a trauma. This study also focuses on the mission of The Make It Right Foundation: which is to rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward with firm concepts on sustainable development where all dimensions are accounted: ecological, social, cultural and economic. Syfte: I november år 2010 avskaffas revisionsplikten i Sverige för mindre företag. Med den utgångspunkten grundar sig studien i att studera och identifiera de nya förutsättningarna på revisionsmarknaden efter att revisionsplikten avskaffats.Metod: Uppsatsen är inriktad i ett kvalitativt perspektiv. Empirin som samlats in via personliga intervjuer utgår från teori om revisionspliktens avskaffande, från Europanivå till den svenska lagen, för att sedan mynna ut i en analys och en slutsats.Resultat & slutsats: Undersökningen påvisar att såväl större som mindre revisionsbyråer har haft kundförluster, men bara i enstaka fall och har inte påverkat byråerna i någon större utsträckning. Studien är för tidigt ute för att se någon radikal förändring. .

This report is the concluding part of the course national minorities, main focus on design, at Luleå University of Technology spring 2007. The purpose of this written examination is to produce a prototype to a product, which can be used both when marketing Kiruna as a student municipality and when recruiting students to the study programmes Kiruna offers. The product has been produced through systematic problem solving, where methods to fix the problem, gather facts, examine and come to a solution have been used. The product should in one way or another get the student to think of Kiruna as a student municipality and it should also appeal to the target group ? the students.

This thesis concerns an energy audit of a food industry. The company's business consists of boiling and peeling shrimps, and producing mayonnaise-based salads. This type of work involves energy-intensive processes, such as steam generation, compression of air and refrigeration of large spaces. These needs are supplied with electricity. Furthermore, the industry is a major consumer of district heating, particularly for heating the supply air in the ventilation system.

Bullying in workplaces has been a growing problem the last ten years. Anyone can be a victim or a bully. Either you are a leader or a worker a bullying situation can be activated. There is no difference between ages, line of business, education or the size of the firm. A person is defined as bullied if he or she is repeatedly subjected to negative acts in the workplace. However, to be a victim of such bullying one must also feel inferiority in defending oneself in the actual situation. Bullying often occurs when situations or conditions at the workplace are unsatisfactory. Employers are always responsible for the working environment at the workplace. Victims of bullying very often develop psychological stress. To prevent bullying you have to accept the fact that bullying exists. If the company has a clear policy against bullying and a plan for action if the problem occurs, it will be easier to handle the situation.

Bakgrund: De stora redovisningsskandalerna inom bolag som Enron, Worldcom och Palarmat var startskottet för den epidemi som sedan kom att spela en stor roll vid förbättrandet av bolagsstyrningen bland aktiebolag världen över. Kraven på bolagen ökade att informationen som släpptes var tillförlitlig och fullständig. För att säkerställa detta togs svensk kod för bolagsstyrning fram som ett komplement till lagstiftningen berörande aktiebolag. Koden kräver ingen obligatorisk tillämpning i att implementera funktionerna utan har som krav att bolagen ska göra ett aktivt ställningsantagande vid inrättande av funktionerna i koden. En uppmärksammad punkt i koden är 7.4 där bolagen måste beskriva i sina årsredovisningar huruvida de anser sig behöva en granskningsfunktion även kallad internrevision eller inte.Syfte: Syftet med rapporten är att skapa en förståelse för vilka motiv de svenska bolagen med en omsättning över 3 miljarder kronor har haft när de valde att inte följa internrevisionsfunktionen.

The aim of this study is to find and highlight the differences and similarities in the strategic communication in two real estate businesses with different proprietaries. In order to achieve the purpose, theories and previous research on public relations, strategic communication, mediatization, framing and new public management has been used. The study was conducted through interviews with two different organizations, Lerstenen who is based in Umeå, and Övikshem who is based in Örnsköldsvik. The analysis and results showed that the key difference between the firms was the spontaneity that influenced the private one, in contrast to the public firm that relied on solid structures to manage their communication. The results also showed that differences in basis conditions both allowed and hindered the possibilities with the communicative efforts that the two firms could do..

Using the models from van Maanen and Schein (1977) and Dutton et al. (1994), we have been able to investigate the socialization process and organizational identification both from the organizational as well as the individual?s perspective. The link between these two perspectives establishes a better insight into the company?s actual socialization intentions and the individual?s identification with the firm.

This paper aims to investigate abnormal returns for rivals to bidder targets in connection with the announcement of the bid. The study is based on 38 bids placed between September 2006 - January 2011 and 137 rival firms listed on Nasdaq OMX Nordic. We measure cumulative abnormal returns, CAR, for rival firms through an event study. We find that rival firms earn significant positive CAR in connection with the announcement of the bid. This is in line with the two-sided signaling effect presented by Akhigbe et al.

Målet med den här studien var att undersöka de anställdas känslomässiga bedömning av den interna kommunikationen på ett svenskt skogsbolag med hjälp av en modifierad version av undersökningsverktyget Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ) samt två kvalitativa frågor. Studien genomfördes på 65 anställda inom en region av ett svensk skogsbolag. Resultatet visade att de anställda var ganska nöjda eller nöjda med de olika dimensionerna av kommunikationstillfredsställelse samt att ingen statistiskt säkerställd skillnad kunde identifieras mellan tillfredsställelsen hos region- och distriktsanställda. Vidare kunde ett samband påvisas mellan de anställdas arbetstillfredsställelse och kommunikationsdimensionerna: kommunikationseffektivitet, chefsrelation, skvaller och presonlig feedback. Resultatet från de kvalitativa frågorna påvisade att de förbättringsmöjligheter de anställda framhöll främst fanns inom området kommunikationskanaler.

This paper aims to clarify how four customer magazines and digital versions of the magazines are being used by their target group. It focuses on the Ikea customer magazine specifically. After the analysis the conclusion is that out of the four companies customer magazines only one, Ikeas Live magazine, fully re-used the editorial content from the printed magazines on their digital platform. The interviewees were six readers of Ikeas customer magazine Live and two experts from a Stockholm based content firm. After the conducted interviews it became clear that none of the interviewees read the digital version of Ikeas magazine Live.

The bachelor's thesis is to examine the explanatory factors affecting the choice of capital structure in real estate companies. The analysis is based on data collected from the main financial reporting from 2007; all listed real estate companies listed on Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Finnish stock market. Based on previous research and theories, we have defined five independent variables that are linked to the debt ratio, which are: profitability, growth, firm size, cost of debt and operational risk. The statistical tests have resulted in that we can say with certainty that profitable firms tend to have a lower debt to equity ratio.
