The title of this essay is Project: The Veil ? an investigation of the trends in the Swedish veil debate compared with the veil debate in France and Great Britain written by Cecilia Lindvall. The purpose of the paper is to analyze how the argument has been conducted by the Swedish politicians from the time when the veil was first recognized in Swedish media up until today. The questions I wanted to answer was each countries definition of the three concepts secularization, freedom of religion and multiculturalism, how Islam as a faith with Muslims has developed in Sweden, France and Great Britain and each countries integration politics with the politicians attitude towards the veil. The method being used is a qualitative study with three kind of theories for analysis; two who derives from a feminist point of view where the first one advocates for the rights of each women, the second for the rights of religious groups and a third theory which discusses different models of integration logics.

Jag har därför valt att på en gymnasieskola följa en inledande termin i ett långsiktigt kompetensutvecklingsarbete om bedömning för lärande. Under arbetet sker regelbundna erfarenhetsutbyten med mellanliggande uppgifter att testa i undervisningen. Jag har intervjuat sex lärare om deras erfarenheter av och syn på kompetensutvecklingsarbetet för att undersöka mina frågeställningar vilken typ av lärande som sker och vad som främjar respektive hindrar att lärande sker. Jag har utgått från teorier som ser lärande som något som skapas av individen i samspel med hennes omgivning.

This study is a thesis project for the program Civilingenjör och Lärare at KTH. The study was conducted in spring 2014 in collaboration with Komplementskolan AB which has developed the educational material Studi.se, the focal point of this study.The overall aim of the study is to increase the knowledge of the participant teachers? conception and use of the educational material Studi.se. The second purpose is to increase knowledge about the forms of use some of these teachers apply or claim to apply when using Studi.se. Theoretical framework used is constructivism and the notions of Piaget: adaptation, Assimilation and accommodation.

Detta är en argumentations- och diskursanalys som syftar till att undersöka en serie debattartiklar angående tvåspråkig undervisning. Debatten uppkom i samband med ett förslag om införande av tvåspråkiga, arabisk-svenska klasser på Möllevångsskolan i Malmö och publicerades i Sydsvenska Dagbladet i januari 2001. Syftet med uppsatsen är att rekonstruera den argumentation som gavs, det vill säga urskilja olika argumentativa grepp samt att försöka blottlägga eventuella bakomliggande diskurser i texten. Detta gjordes genom att anlägga ett argumentationsanalytiskt och diskursanalytiskt perspektiv på samtliga artiklar. Resultatet blev att den sida i som argumenterar för tvåspråkig undervisning kan sägas ha bättre hållbarhet och talar mer till logos; läsarens intellekt.

Vi skapas och omskapas i möten där det kulturella har en given plats. Sverige har omskapats från att vara ett relativt etniskt homogent land till en mångkulturell nation. Vårt syfte med detta examensarbete är att undersöka hur internationalisering kommuniceras och synliggörs i två läseböcker inriktade mot skolår 1. Vi avser att undersöka hur de kommunicerar utifrån Lpo-94:s internationaliseringsuppdrag och om böckerna har en kulturell och etnisk mångfald. Metoden vi använder oss av består av bildanalyser och textanalyser eftersom läseböckerna vi valt kommunicerar i båda genrerna.

Ocean Modules Sweden AB is a small business active in the field of underwater technology. Thecompany was contacted by the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) in order todevelop a new system that would conform to their specific requirements. Two students at theRoyal Institute of Technology (KTH) were consulted in conjunction of this project in order to aidthe development and conceptual design of the system.The primary users of the system are the divers of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal division (EOD)- a branch of the Swedish Armed Forces. The purpose of the product was to incorporate allnecessary functions required by the EOD divers into one single system. The main functions arecommunication between the surface operator and diver, video recording, still imaging, positioning,navigation and ocean floor mapping with sonar.

Research regarding the maintenance of the Sami language shows that the Swedish society has a big influence on the development of the Sami identity and also the maintenance of the Sami language. The Assimilation of the Sami language and the traditional Sami religion was forced mainly by the Swedish education form and the Swedish church. In modern times many different forms of Sami identities have been developed due to the scattering of the Sami people, and also because of the urbanization of the Swedish society. The Sami nature religion is still alive in the Sami group, thanks to the mythological stories told and preserved by their oral  tradition. The purpose of this assignment was to make research of how the Sami identity is being presented in three current Swedish books.

The aim of this study is to examine the media coverage of gender-neutral marriage from an intersectional perspective ? with particular regard to gender, sexual orientation and religion. By focusing on the spokespeople who appears in the articles we have made an attempt to answer questions regarding who was heard in the debate on gender-neutral marriage and how the homosexual couples are portrayed in relation to the above criteria.The collected material consists of 89 articles, published in 2009, in Swedish newspapers which have been analysed by using quantitative content analysis. Ten articles have also been selected for a critical discourse analysis based on Norman Fairclough?s approach.

An effective Integration policy is important in Sweden while our government has decided and committed to be a country where everybody will be given the same opportunities. There is a greater awareness in today?s society of integration policy goals such as equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities for all. In a number of areas, however, the disparities between immigrants and Swedish-born citizens are still too large.The Swedish Riksdag decided on integration policy in 1997. The main task for this thesis will be to examine the motive behind the Government's decision to revoke immigrations policy and introduce integration policy.

Are different ways of life possible in a world that increasingly becomes "Westernized" or globalized? This study examines and analyzes the diverse and complex way of life that includes socioeconomical nomadism as the Irish Traveller community are availing themselves of on the island of Ireland. In a broader perspective the study of the Travellers is put in context to how modern society emerged, and what characterizes the contemporary western societies. This is to understand the way Travellers nomadic lifestyle has been constrained and how the interrelationship between the dominant society and the extended family group constituting Travellers social composition has affected their livelihoods. Their social role is considered from two identification points ? home and work.Nomadism as a phenomenon, its history, expression and possible motives are being described in this work.

Har vi svartskallar eller invandrarbarn i Bollnäs kommun?Vi kan se tendenser i vårt samhälle, att ytterlighetsgrupper för främlingsfientlighet ökar, samtidigt som Sveriges ekonomiska läge förändrats. Den lågkonjunktur som drabbat landet sedan ett flertal år, med ökad arbetslöshet som följd, har förvärrat situationen och i vissa fall lett till klart uttalad invandrarfientlighet. Även media har stor betydelse och genomslagskraft, genom att många gånger förstärka det främlingsfientliga budskapet.Skolans nya läroplan, Lpo 94, säger att skolans riktlinjer, bland annat skall vara, att arbetet i skolan aktivt skall motverka trakasserier och förtryck av individer eller grupper. En uppgift som lärare är, att bekämpa destruktiva krafter och skapa ett positivt klimat för våra invandrarelever.

På uppdrag av Umeå kommun genomför WSP Samhällsbyggnad i Umeå en inventering av vattendragen och näringstillförseln till Nydalasjön i Umeå. Projektets huvudsyfte är att få fram aktuell referensdata inför framtida riskbedömningar och beslut om tilltänkta projekt kring Nydalasjön och Umeåregionen i stort. Detta examensarbete är en del av uppdraget och utgör ett led i projektets redovisning. Syftet med examensarbetet var att utreda den aktuella närsaltsbelastningen till Nydalasjön samt att skapa underlagsdata för ett framtida miljöarbete kring sjön. Målet var att kartlägga Nydalasjöns tillrinningsområde samt massflödena av närsalter till sjön eftersom dessa parametrar styr algtillväxten i sjön.
