Sverige har under senare år lidit av en högre arbetslöshet och problemet tillskrivs ofta finanskrisen och dess effekter på arbetsmarknaden. Denna uppsats syftar till att studera Finland respektive Sverige för att undersöka hur arbetslösheten i Sverige påverkats givet ett inträde i EU:s valutasamarbete i samband med folkomröstningen 2003. Arbetslöshetens utveckling studeras under tidsperioden 1993-2013. Vidare studeras arbetslöshetens underliggande faktorer och de skillnader som ett inträde i unionen skulle inneburit för ekonomin. Utifrån teori, tidigare forskning och en analys framkommer att de huvudsakliga faktorer som påverkat arbetslösheten är sysselsättningsgrad och arbetskraft, tillväxt och produktivitet, inflation, växelkurs och statsskuld.

Digital preservation is a relatively new subject to Swedish archives. Alhough computers have been used for a long time, preservation has been made on paper and stored on shelves. These days a lot of cities in Sweden have investigated how to best secure the digital information for the future through electronic archiving, e-archives. One option is to hand in the information as soon as possible, but to let the producer keep the information ownership yet some time. The idea is to let the producers of the information answer questions and hand out material, since they are more competent on their field.

This Master's thesis aims at pinpointing the political arguments that appear in the recent debate on scientific publication. There is a widely spread opinion that prices on digital resources are far too high, thus taking up a major part of the University libraries budget, while publishing companies make high profits. It is also a common opinion that the current publishing method does not take full advantage of the possibilities of electronic publishing. Lately a number of alternative ways of publishing have been initiated and discussed, generally referred to as open access. Open access published material is available free of charge and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions on the public internet.In this thesis the minutes from four hearings held by the UK House of Commons in the spring of 2004 are examined.

The technical evolution has a great influence on the public libraries. Electronic media becomes more and more common. This Master´s thesis is based upon the Swedish Library law 9§ (SFS 1996:1596) which says: Public- and school libraries should pay special attention to children and teenagers by offering books, information technology and other media, adapted to their needs, to encourage development of language and stimulate reading. From this point of view we have examined why the children´s departments in public libraries offer CD-ROM games which are based upon characters from the literature, how they are used in the daily activity and how they can contribute to the development of the children´s department.We have made literary studies and empirical investigations including interviews, observation studies etc. The results from this studies shows that both young and adults appreciate the CD-ROM games.

Mångfald och mångkulturella förhållanden nämns av Integrationsverket som viktiga inslag i det svenska samhället och man arbetar därför inom verket för att motverka etnisk diskriminering och rasism. Enligt Integrationsverket handlar frågan om etnisk mångfald ytterst om samhällets förmåga att leva upp till principen om allas lika värde oavsett etnisk, kulturell eller religiös bakgrund. Integrationsverket har en avgörande roll för integrationen i Sverige och centralt i verkets arbete är den etniska mångfalden och integrationen av utlandsfödda invånare. Nya invånare, som beviljats uppehållstillstånd, tilldelas av Integrationsverket en bok, ?Sverige ? en pocketguide?, med syfte att underlätta den första tiden i Sverige.

The main purpose of this Master's thesis is to investigate the new librarians' experiences and skills in the context of their present work situation and the ongoing debate about the librarian's professional identity and status. Further, the authors wanted to find out whether the new librarians' experiences and knowledge developed throughout their education correspond to the requirements of the employers. Finally, they try to assess theimpact of the "academization" of the library schools on the status of the profession. The data consist of an opinion poll. The investigation is based on questionnaires distributed as a web survey.

The information market is constantly changing. With new and improved information technology more people get access to more information faster. However, the number of people educated to handle information also increases. Business intelligence has for a long time been a well-known tool for companies to be competitive. Because of the increased access to information the competition between companies has intensified and more people have become aware of the advantages of business intelligence and how it can help them compete.

The aim of this study is to explore if and how library managers market their competence in communication with local politicians. It is also our aim to find a definition of the competence of librarians. The report identifies and describes problems and possibilitieswith marketing of competence to politicians on the basis of one Swedish municipality's library managers. In order to fulfil this aim we have used a literature study on marketing, competence, the political process and the librarian profession. We have alsocarried out an empirical study where we interviewed ten library managers in onemunicipality, seven politicians in the same municipality and ten representatives for central professional organisations mainly in Sweden.The results are that most library managers don't market their competence because they don?t believe in marketing competence.

In the last few years there has been an ongoing debate concerning the methods of assessing the quality of public libraries and their services. This study investigates the opinions and needs of the users at four different public libraries in Malm : the local libraries in Bellevueg rden, Limhamn, and Kirseberg, and the main library in central Malm . The purpose was to find out whether different user groups display different patterns in their library use and, in addition, to identify what library services they prefer. The data were collected through interviews with users and librarians, and by means of a user survey ccarried out at the four libraries. The results indicate that certain differences in the usage patterns do exist between the main library and the local libraries.

Grooming innebär att en vuxen söker kontakt med ett barn, under 15 år, i syftet att få till stånd en sexuell kontakt med barnet. Detta är sedan 1 juli 2009 ett lagbrott. Det finns ytterst lite forskning i Sverige om grooming och ännu ingen utvärdering om hur svensk lagstiftning fungerar i praktiken. Vårt syfte med uppsatsen är att belysa nuvarande kunskapsläge i Sverige. Vi har valt att jämföra lagstiftningen i Sverige och Storbritannien, hur de båda länderna arbetar mot grooming och om rutinaktivitetsteorin samt teorin om rationella val kan förklara hur grooming kan ske. I vår studie har vi kommit fram till att Storbritannien har ett mer aktivt sätt att arbeta preventivt mot brottet än i Sverige.

Vi lever idag i ett mångkulturellt samhälle där integration har blivit en allt viktigare fråga. Då en stor del av Sveriges befolkning har annan etnisk bakgrund än svensk blir det viktigare att mötas och respektera varandra. Detta är i stort vad integration går ut på och något som det arbetas med dagligen. I denna antologi behandlas integration ur fyra olika perspektiv. Gemensamt för dessa bidrag är att de behandlar integrationsprocesser och identitetsskapande.

The theses discuss information seeking with a focus on Google and social networks. Students attending the librarian program in Lund have been examined by means of two methods; diaries and information horizons, where they had to solve a specific assignment. The information horizon as a method contributes to getting a structural perspective on the information search process instead of viewing information search as a procedure. Information horizons use social network analysis.The aim of the theses is to investigate the importance of the social network in information search, with a particular focus on Google as a search tool. Our hypothesis is that Google acts as a compensator to the social network when the students search for information and in the educational program.The research indicates that there is no direct correlation between usage of the social network and usage of Google.

Syftet med följande arbete är att presentera det förslag till historiekanon som lades fram i Danmark sommaren 2006, samt den debatt som följde i media, samt att jämföra klimatet för historieämnet i Danmark och Sverige. Svend Sødring Jensens teori om olika historieundervisningsmodeller applicerades på materialet. Genom en kvalitativ analys av de olika texterna, blev resultatet att förespråkarna för en kanon har en objektivistisk och/eller klassisk argumentation, samt att motståndarna har en formal argumentation när de inte anser att en kanon ska finnas, och objektivistisk och/eller klassisk argumentation när de anser att urvalet av kanonpunkter är felaktigt. I jämförelsen med Sverige blir resultatet att Sverige har en mer nyanserad historiesyn, speciellt när det gäller den egna kulturen..

Detta är ett arbete om hur det är att bo och leva i Sverige som muslim. De muslimer som finns i Sverige idag har till största delen flytt från sina hemländer för att undvika krig, fattigdom och förföljelser. Alltfler muslimer är nu även födda i Sverige och tillsammans med det mindre antal konvertiter som finns i Sverige skapar de nu en svensk islam. För att få insikt i hur det kan vara att leva som muslim i Sverige har jag läst litteratur som tar upp ämnet. Jag har kommit fram till att muslimer stöter på en mängd olika problem i utövandet av sin religion men att dessa problem på vissa håll kan lösas genom ömsesidig respekt och genom kompromisser.

The web is a constantly growing medium that presumably plays an increasing role in public library reference services. In order to provide high quality reference service the librarians need to be able to master this medium. Therefore it is interesting to get an understanding of how librarians actually use the web. The aim of this Master s thesis is to investigate what web search tools are used by public librarians in reference service. Furthermore, the aim is to get an understanding of how the librarians think about those tools and what background factors influence their selection of tools.
