Climate changing is a growing problem for many countries and communities over the world. The cities has a huge work to deal with in their reforcements of their cities to be resilient ones. This thesis makes an effort to investigate and illuminate some of the problem the cities has to solve related to flooding, hazards, erosions, rising sea levels and crotches. This thesis will help to find solutions that international and national efforts has produced and handed out to each other. A lot of communities are charing their excellent tools that works for them.

The main aim of this study is to analyse the grotesque characterization of adults in four novels by Roald Dahl, from Michail Bachtin?s definition of the carnival-grotesque in Rabelais and his world. From this view I have examined how the conflict between children and adults is described in these books, and to what extent the grotesque motifs have a function in this conflict.For this purpose I have applied theories of the literature-grotesque by Michail Bachtin, and of the meaning and function and ? in this context ? the necessity of fright and horror in children?s fiction, in particular by Bruno Bettelheim and J.A. Appleyard.

Denna studie handlar om hur förskollärare uppfattar estetiska lärprocesser. Undersökningens syfte är att ta reda på några aktiva förskollärares uppfattning om estetiska lärprocesser i förskolan och hur dessa kan uppnås. Studien utgår från en empiriinsamling baserad på intervjuer. Intervjuerna, utifrån en kvalitativ forskningsansats, visar att de intervjuade förskollärarna har olika föreställningar om vad estetiska lärprocesser innebär.

The field of coping has become more developed during the past decades but there is still a lot to be discovered and discussed. Theories of developmental psychology describe the possibility to map a general developmental structure of how the human mind expands. The aim of this study is to contribute to further research in whether there is a reason why we cope the way we do in relation to age. The questions answered in this study was, what coping two girls, whom lived during the Holocaust, used and how the coping found, were possible to interpret from theories of developmental psychology. In order to answer the questions asked a method called Template Analysis Style and three different theories have been applied.

?Syftet med vår uppsats är att söka svar på hur förskollärarna som arbetar i åldrarna 3-5 år väljer att arbeta med barns vänskapsrelationer i förskolans verksamhet, eftersom tidigare forskning visar att allt fler barn befinner sig i förskolan samt att vänskap för barn har stor betydelse för deras välbefinnande. Frågeställningar som vi söker svar på i vår uppsats är på vilket sätt genomför förskollärarna ett arbete med barns vänskapsrelationer i förskolan, om förskolläraren anser att barns vänskapsrelationer är ett arbetsområde att prioritera i förskolan samt vad förskolläraren anser om sitt eget deltagande i barns skapande av vänskapsrelationer. Vi söker svar på frågorna genom att göra en kvalitativ intervju med en förskollärare och observationer som ett komplement till intervjun. Som teoretisk utgångspunkt utgår vi från teorier om vad vänskap är för små barn och vilken betydelse vänskap har för barnen.

With the volume and availability of information increasing as fast as technological development in society a phenomenon called information overload has emerged. The purpose of our thesis was to investigate how university students experience this increase in volume and ease in access to information. In our study we concentrated our focus on the student?s use of electronic resources. So as not to prejudice our study group our questions focused on different aspects of searching for information.

This report discusses a method to detect divers in harbour environments usingpassive acoustic detection. The goal was to achieve as high detection as possiblewithout having too high false alarm rate. A short execution time was also desirable.By using the characteristic of an inhalation a band-pass filter was applied to the signalto improve the signal to noise ratio. After the filtering an energy estimation of thesignal was made. This energy estimation was later used in a frequency analysis, whichcould tell us if there were enough energy in the frequencies that correspond to adivers breathing frequency.

Over the past few years the Åland islands have attracted growing internationalattention as an example of how to successfully secure the position of a minorityregion, and in the current situation the government of Åland has an intention toextend the efforts of spreading the example of Åland. The essay showsthat the theory of norm entrepreneurship also can be applied on an autonomousarea, but instead of influencing international organizations themselves, theautonomous area use norm entrepreneurship as a tool for influencing domesticpolitics..

Uppsatsen har för avsikt att klargöra aspekter som finns inom ramen för estetisk verksamhet, ett kärnämne som alla gymnasieelever läser. Kursen har olika inriktningar så som bild, dans, drama, slöjd, musik och ämnar till att utveckla elevernas känslor och tankar i kreativ form. Arbetet är begränsat till att se hur bildämnet, inom estetisk verksamhet, kan påverka elevernas självbild och självkänsla, och hur ämnet kan ämnet kan utrusta dem till att bli de kreativa människor som arbetslivet så ofta efterfrågar. Vidare undersöker uppsatsen hur ämnet kan användas till att uppfostra eleverna till att bli demokratiska samhällsmedlemmar. Forskningen är fokuserad kring fem kvalitativa intervjuer med kvinnor i åldrarna 40-60 år.

The aim of this project was to create an interior design for a children?s hospital patient room with the concept to adapt the room for the wide target group from 0-18 years of age. The analysis in the project is based on the hospital ward 322 at Drottning Silvias Children?s and Youth Hospital in Gothenburg. It?s an oncology ward where the children are very sensitive for infections and therefore need to be isolated in their rooms for 3-4 weeks.The main goal for the project was to create a room that works as a template and gives the people who lives in it the opportunity to create thier own room based on the personal things they bring into it, and how they decide to furnish and use the room.The result of the project is a template room with fixed furniture that can be transformed due to screens in the room.

Upon marketing the system in Europe and the USA cost savings generated from reduced work force have been prevailing. Since the cost of labour is much lower in the Asia Pacific region other factors have to be stressed. The objective of this project was to develop the visual identityof Halleluja, a brand new booking agency representing approximatelytwenty minor artists within a wide range of contemporarymusic styles.The outcome has been applied to business cards and awebsite yet to be produced. To attract the audience and differentiateitself from other booking companies, Halleluja featuresa minimalist design that speaks of dedication, breadth ofgenres and exclusive taste. Although my sketches have beenapproved by Lars Olsson and Erik Sundfeldt, the co-foundersof Halleluja, I have had the privilege of working quite freely andstarting from scratch, since there was no earlier work done onthe company.Some of the issues I have faced during my process wasabout finding the right tone of voice in type and colour, ordealing with the semantics of the corporate name (meaning»praise the Lord«). I?ve also been struggling to come to termswith my own self-censorship and my slighly suspicious view onbranding..

Syftet är att undersöka hur pedagoger på en mångkulturell förskola arbetar med den kulturella mångfalden i den dagliga verksamheten. Hur tänker pedagoger och vilket synsätt har de på ett interkulturellt arbetssätt? Hur arbetar pedagoger med den kulturella mångfalden i barngruppen och utifrån barnets individuella förutsättningar? Har miljön utformats och anpassats för att tillgodose den kulturella mångfalden? Den här studien är en fallstudie av kvalitativ karaktär. Som metod användes kvalitativa informella intervjuer och ostrukturerade icke deltagande observationer. För att få en bredare bild av pedagogers interkulturella arbetssätt genomfördes observationer av pedagogers arbetssätt och observationer av miljön på en förskola.

This report present a working model for simulation of what happens to colors displayed on screens when they are observed through optical filters. The results of the model can be used to visually, on one screen, simulate another screen with an applied optical filter. The model can also produce CIE color difference values for the simulated screen colors. The model is data driven and requires spectral measurements for at least the screen to be simulated and the physical filters that will be used. The model is divided into three separate modules or steps where each of the modules can be easily replaced by alternative implementations or solutions.
