Wounds on horses are common and sometimes difficult to treat. The wounds are often big and could be discovered too late for primary sutures, which have to be applied within 8 hours from time of accident, before bacteria has been able to infiltrate the surrounding tissue. The healing is often complicated by delayed healing and wound infection with consequences like phlegmone, fistulation and proud flesh formation.To avoid these consequences, the traditional practice has been to administer systemic antibiotics alone, systemic antibiotics in combination with topical antibiotics or topical antibiotics alone. Because few antibiotics can be used in horses, is it important to household with the few substances that are available. In veterinary medicine today, the increasing resistance amongst pathogenic microbes such as MRSA presents a growing problem.

Naturen inspirerar mig, i detta projekt jobbar jag med strukturen hos trädstammar och bark, och översätter det jag ser till vävda textiler. När jag befinner mig i naturen känner jag mig ofta lugn och kan koppla bort allt annat i min omgivning. Det lugnet vill jag återskapa och föra in i en rumslighet. I barkens olika strukturer såg jag intressanta varierande ytor som jag ville jobba med i textil. I mitt examensarbete har jag designat textilier med uppmätt akustiska egenskaper för offentlig miljö.

Traumatiska sårskador är vanligt förekommande hos hästar och kunskapen om sårläkningens mekanismer har blivit mycket större under de senaste 15 åren. Vad gäller bandagematerial så säljs det nuförtiden många olika bioaktiva kompresser som syftar till att underlätta läkningsförloppet men tyvärr finns inte mycket forskning avseende hur väl dessa kompresser fungerar på sårskador på hästars extremiteter. I denna studie jämfördes fyra stycken bioaktiva kompresser: kalciumalginat, manukahonung, polyhexametylen biguandin (PHMB) och Sorbact. Totalt behandlades 15 traumatiskt uppkomna sår i fältmiljö. Samarbetande distriktsveterinärer inledde behandlingen av sårskadan med en bioaktiv kompress enligt ett randomiserat protokoll.

Abstract One of the leading causes of food borne infections in the world is due to Salmonella by con-suming poultry products including eggs and meat. According to US Food and Drug Admin-istration (2009), 2 to 4 million cases of Salmonellosis in humans occur every year only in US. Salmonella causes wide range of diseases with enteric and typhoid fever, food poisoning, di-arrhea and gastro-enteritis. Many serotypes of Salmonella do not have host specificity and cause disease in all kinds of animals and humans. Salmonella has capability to modify accord-ing to the changing environment and it can develop resistance against routine elimination practices of sanitation, chemical treatments and antibacterial drugs. Newly established poultry industries in Pakistan are confronting various infectious diseases including Salmonellosis while in Sweden Salmonella prevalence in animal products con-sumed for humans is extremely low.

Hemp is an old agricultural plant and has been used for hundreds of years for making textiles, ropes and other fibre products. In the middle of the last century the Swedish government prohibited all growing of hemp. Natural fibres were replaced by syntetic fibres instead. Today there is a newly awakened interest for using natural fibres from renewable materials. Growing of industrial hemp for fiber is allowed in Sweden again. I want in my Paper give Swedish growers an insight of which harvesting methods that have been tried in Sweden and how they worked.

During the summer of 2005 more than 80 million articles of clothing from China, were being held in European harbours. This was a consequence of a striking increase of imported textile and clothing articles from China since the turn of the year, which was the time when all quantitative restrictions were extincted on these products. To protect its own market, the EU therefore reintroduced import quotes in the beginning of the summer. China?s accession agreement to the WTO comprehends a number of unique provisional regulations which are exceptional for the country and in conjunction with clauses and exceptions within the GATT and WTO these regulations enabled new restrictions on the trade with textiles and clothings.

Honung har en historia inom sårvård som går långt tillbaka i tiden. Idag används honung både inom veterinär- och humanmedicinsk vård. Den honung som används är framförallt Manukahonung från växten Leptospermum scoparium i Nya Zeeland. Honung anses ha ett flertal positiva effekter på sårläkning och här fokuseras på tre av dem: antibakteriell effekt, påskyndad sårläkning samt antiinflammatorisk effekt. Syftet med denna litteraturöversikt är att se vad det finns för vetenskaplig grund till Manukahonungs påstådda effekter och för att få en uppfattning om användbarheten inom veterinärmedicinsk sårvård för hund och katt. Den allmänna uppfattningen är att den antibakteriella effekten hos Manukahonung är bekräftad då flertalet studier har visat detta, även på multiresistenta bakterier.

The development within the textile industry is always ongoing with development of new andbetter textiles, which often mean the use of non-natural materials like polyester. This doesn?t lineup with the work shared around the world against an improved environment, so the idea came touse a form of linen fibers instead of polyester as the reinforcing material together with cotton.The idea was to use flax, linen of low quality, which is seen as a waste product and garbage inthe production of high quality linen and flax seed oil. This flax of low quality needs to beseparated before it can be used in cotton spinning machines. Fireball 2 is just that, a process toseparate flax fibers through the treatment of a technique called electrohydraulic discharge.The thesis works goal is to evaluate the Fireball 2 process ability to separate flax fiber.

Goods that children come in contact with on a daily basis for example toys, electronics, textiles, household items, have attracted an increased attention in recent years because of a common occurrence of residues of potentially hazardous chemical substances. Some municipalities in Stockholm have developed plans for managing chemical risks and work systematically to phase out products containing hazardous substances. This thesis aims to contribute to an improved knowledge base for any future work with non-toxic nursery schools in Haninge. The study's focus is on the challenges encountered by conditions and problems of preschool personnel to manage chemical risks in early childhood environments. Primary data was collected through a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews with both the preschool staff and practitioners working in the central organization of the municipality.

Digitalt textiltryck ger mig möjlighet att skapa textilier av hög kvalitet i små upplagor utan begränsningar vad gäller rapportstorlek och färgantal. Jag kan producera hållbara och praktiska textilier med en handgjord känsla. Dessa egenskaper ger tekniken intressanta möjligheter som en överbryggare mellan design och textil konst/konsthantverk. Det ger också stora möjligheter att anpassa formgivningen efter en specifik möbel eller miljö. Detta vill jag utnyttja i mitt arbete.

The big change is a project where I created patterns on fabric. It is a collaborative project with Lotta Niemi. She studied fashion and textile designers and tailors from the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås and University of Technology in Sydney. The collaboration was to create designs on fabric for her upcoming clothing line for women, Fall / Winter 2013. The clothes will be sold online, in stores in Sweden and Japan.For Lotta Niemi?s clothing line, I wanted to create exclusive designs, rich patterns that worked out handmade and digital.

Piezoelektriska material används flitigt i olika sensorer då de kan generera en mätbar elektrisk signal vid tryck eller töjning. Arbetet utreder hur ett piezoelektriskt garn innehållandes Polyvinyldiflourid (PVDF) påverkas av faktorer som långvarig mekanisk deformation, fukt och värme. Fokus har legat på det piezoelektriska garnets egenskaper men projektet undersöker också hur integrering i tyg samt applicering i en textil produkt fungerar. Det piezoelektriska garnet har utsatts för ett stort antal tester. I de flesta tester har proverna utvärderats genom cyklisk deformation i en extensometer.

Det här arbetet är en magisteruppsats inom företagsekonomi. Studien behandlar samarbetsrelationer mellan svenska bornglobalföretag och indiska partner på plats i Indien utifrån en kulturell aspekt. Utgångspunkten är de svenska bornglobalföretagens perspektiv.Studiens objekt: Vi har fyra studieobjekt: Indpro AB är ett företag inom IT-branschen, Duràn Textiles AB och JMQ Sarees är företag inom olika delar av textilbranschen, Swedasia Travels HB är ett företag inom resebranschen. Alla fyra företag är svenska små bornglobalföretag som har nära samarbete med Indien på olika sätt.Studiens syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att analysera vilka kulturella betingelser svenska bornglobalföretag stöter på i samarbetet med indiska aktörer och hur de svenska företagen hanterar dessa.Metod: Arbetet är baserat på en kvalitativ undersökning. Undersökningen gjordes med fyra fallföretag som utgör studiens objekt.

Jag har under detta arbete undersökt hur företaget MAD ELF ART kan arbeta med miljö och sociala aspekter i produktionen. Min uppgift har varit att lokalisera en materialleverantör och producent som kan arbeta med detta på bästa sätt.Under arbetets gång har jag kontaktat flera materialleverantörer och producenter och undersökt hur de jobbar med dessa aspekter. Samtidigt har jag även fördjupat mig i hur man kan ta hänsyn till miljö och sociala aspekter i produktionen, för att undersöka hur vi bäst kan arbeta med det.Vad jag kommit fram till är att materialvalet är det viktigaste och det som skiljer en produkt från att vara en miljöbov och en fara för människor till miljövänlig. Därför har jag i bilagan presenterat en leverantör och producent av materialet 100% silke som är ekologiskt färgad och handvävd. Silke lämnar inget energi-fotavtryck och går att återvinna.

AbstractElectricity consumption is a globally increasing problem caused by the high share of electricity produced in coal power plants. These contribute to high carbon emissions when only about 1/3 of the heat generate electricity and the remaining 2/3 of the heat cools off. Combined heat and power plants (CHP) have high efficiency because they use the residual heat for domestic heating. The CHP plant often use fuels from renewable resources, giving them a lower carbon footprint, but are also depending on the heat demand. If electric powered products such as drying cabinets convert to heat powered products more environmentally friendly electricity will be produced by CHP plants, which can supplant electricity, produced from coal power plants and reduce carbon emissions.
