I uppsatsen behandlas tre reklambilder för whiskey utifrån teorier om klassisk retorik, visuell retorik och semiotik. Hypotesen för whiskeyn och dess reklam är att avsändaren måste övertyga betraktaren om att åsidosätta en viss typ av negativa associationer som finns i samband med alkohol för att den ska få en önskad effekt. I uppsatsen undersöks begreppen ethos, logos och pathos i samband med bildernas retoriska utgångspunkter. Här hävdas att det finns mönster eller olika strategier och tendenser i bildernas uttryck. Dessa mönster är intressanta eftersom de positionerar whiskeyn som produkt och övertygar betraktaren om hur whiskey ska uppfattas. Retorikens utveckling beskrivs tillsammans med semiotiken och en analys presenteras i en avslutande del inspirerad av Bo Renbergs modell för retorikanalys. Generellt framhåller författaren att reklambilderna byggs upp på ett liknande sätt eftersom de tillhör samma produktkategori. Syftet med min uppsats har varit att försöka belysa vilka försvarsstrategier studenter använder sig av under en disciplinutredning, samt om dessa strategier är framgångsrika eller ej i att uppnå sitt syfte. I upptakten till mitt arbete trodde jag att jag skulle få fram analysresultat som visade på argumentation som hänvisade till ett eget lågt etos. Min hypotes var också att studenternas försvar skulle vara patostyngda. Efter att ha genomfört dokumentstudier av 18 disciplinärenden på Södertörns högskola tycks dock denna hypotes inte stämma. Verkligheten var inte så kategorisk och ?genomskinlig? som jag ville tro.

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the variation in the maximal discrimination of the interaction between cognate and a non-cognate codon and anti-codon (also called the d-value). The variation was analyzed with a multiple regression model with the d-value as the dependent variable and with the codon position and the different mRNA and tRNA bases as independent variables. The result of the analysis not only confirmed earlier studies that the maximal accuracy was highest in the second codon position and lowest in the third codon position but we also found significant relationships and interaction effects..

The results of the analysis showed that there is a big difference in how the leaders chooses to appeal to the rhetorical audience. Erlander, 1954, never appealed directly to his audience which Palme, 1978, did both initially as repeatedly throughout his speech. Juholt, 2011, has a personal and frequent appeal which is repeated throughout his speech, which is interpreted as a sign of the intimization of the public language. It proved difficult to discuss the Socialist rhetoric as one unified form.

In this degree project I have studied how an anti-discrimination bureau can adapttheir online information to the target group ? immigrants who only have modestunderstanding of the Swedish language. This group is often subject of discriminationmatters, and therefore it?s important that they can take part of the information.To find answers to my questions I have studied different relevant theories, performeda readability analysis on the online information and have had qualitativeinterviews with representatives from the target group. I have also tested my rewrittentexts on both representatives and other readers.The result from my studies has shown that it is words that are the most difficult inthe current online information, while length and structure of the sentences are alsoof importance when it comes to the readability.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att utföra en retoriskanalys på de argument som förs bland medlemmarna på Facebookgrupperna ?Vägra betala Victorias bröllop!? respektive ?Våga betala Victoria och Daniels bröllop?. Grupperna är två intressanta debattforum att studera i syfte att ta reda på vad för typ av dialog som förs liksom gruppmedlemmarnas åsikter kring det kungliga bröllopet såväl som monarkin. Således kommer uppsatsen att fokusera på den medierande offentlighet som skapas i samspel med interaktionen som äger rum på respektive grupp. Uppsatsens utgår från tre frågeställningar: Förs en kommunikativ dialog i frågan kring för respektive emot det kungliga bröllopet på Facebook? Hur är dialogerna om bröllopet uppbyggda? Vad har medlemmarna för åsikter kring det kungliga bröllopet så väl som monarkin? Genom att fokusera på en för- respektive emotgrupps åsikter på Facebook tangerar uppsatsen olika forskningsfält såsom: forskning om det kungliga bröllopet 2010, det Internetbaserade forumet Facebook men även fältet för retorik och medierad offentlighet.

Mellan år 1987 och 2000 fanns ett beväpnat helikopterförband inom arméflyget. Dessa två pansarvärnshelikopterkompanier användes för att bekämpa stridsfordon. Efter nedläggningen har Sverige inte haft en helikopter med beväpning för annat än egenskydd.Uppsatsen syftar till att utifrån William S. Linds teori om manöverkrigföring utvärdera om pansarvärnshelikopterkompanierna framgångsrikt bidrog till att besegra motståndaren.Det framkommer att pansarvärnshelikopterkompaniernas taktik väl stämmer överrens med Linds teori vilket pekar på att bestyckade helikoptrar är ett mycket användbart instrument inom manöverkrigföringen.  .

Learning words have shown to be a very crucial part of learning a second language and the one most important factor to make pupils with Swedish as a second language succeed in school. To make sure that all pupils get the right conditions to learn from all subjects and their entire content a wide vocabulary is necessary. Even so it is found that there are shortcomings regarding this kind of teaching in Swedish schools.Through interviews and observations of two teachers that teach pupils with Swedish as a second language, and also with a short reading test for the pupils, the possible strategies that these teachers use for learning words have been studied. The result shows that the teachers are using several strategies and that they are actively working with transmitting these to the pupils, but there are some areas that need developing..

Denna uppsats behandlar ämnet terrorism under Osloprocessen, som varade under i princip hela 1990-talet. Vi har valt att undersöka denna terrorism ur ett relativt avgränsat perspektiv. Vi vill se på ämnet ur ett orsak och verkan perspektiv, och detta gör vi genom att analysera fram de konsekvenser som Israels hantering av den palestinska terrorismen gav. För att utkristallisera ett mönster i Israels anti-terroristpolitik har vi applicerat en handfull olika teorier, som behandlar olika former av terroristhantering, på händelserna under i Mellanöstern under Osloprocessen. Huvudtesen formas av att vi ställer inkludering och exkludering av terrorister, i fredsamtal, mot varandra och försöker pröva deras för- respektive nackdelar..

This essay deals with non-normative gender expressions during childhood. I?m using narrative theory and methods to analyze autobiographical narratives. My questions are:What strategies does the non-normative person use to deal with his otherness?Using the methodological analysis tool ?turning point?, where are the turning points in the narratives? Are their any common turning points in the various narratives?Where is the responsibility placed in the narratives for that someone does not fit in by the adults/ staff at the school/kindergarten- on the non-normative person or at the surroundings?The experiences are interpreted through theories and concepts from queer theory and gender theory.

This paper addresses the need to review the modern presentation of textile archaeology in museums. It is time to look at textiles in archaeology with new eyes. The reality behind archaeological textilestudy is holistic, embracing many different aspects of society. The presentation of textiles has in my opinion become old-fashioned. I will show in my paper that Jonathan Adams? `seven constraints´ model, developed for research on ancient ships, can also be applied to textile research.

How the United States anti-terrorist strategy is affecting the view of democracy is the main analysis of this paper. Bipolär sjukdom (BS) är en kronisk sjukdom med återkommande perioder av mani och depression. Den bryter oftast fram i tonåren men i många fall diagnostiseras den inte förrän patienten är runt 30 år. Behandling för BS är livslång medicinering med stämningsstabiliserande läkemedel, i första hand litium, kombinerat med anti-depressiva läkemedel och anti-psykotiska läkemedel. Läkemedelsbehandling kombineras med psykoedukativ behandling eller kognitivbeteende terapi (KBT). En intensivbehandling följer efter det att diagnosen är ställd och det tar ofta upp till 2 år för patienten att hitta en balans i livet.Syftet med denna studie är att få en uppfattning om hur det är att leva med bipolär sjukdom.

In this thesis I discuss and analyse the relationship between USA and Europe since the end of the Cold War. Many authors claimed that the Soviet threat was the glue that kept the continents together. Now that threat is gone and new challenges have risen. In what way has this relationship been influenced by the new challenges this new era stands for? By doing a case study and by using two quite different theorists, John Mearsheimer an offensive realist and Joseph Nye who is a liberal institutionalist, I?ll try to show how for example September 11, anti-amerikanism and NATO can be explained and understood.
