Eventing is often called as the formula 1 in equestrian sports and comprises three disciplines: dressage, show jumping and cross-country. The sport provides excitement, challenge and joy and is the ultimate sport for intelligent riders and horses. Many are fascinated by the challenges the sport offers while other consider it foolhardy to ride a cross-country. Eventing is not a risk-free sport and has even been given the label of being one of the world´s most dangerous sports. What do those risks mean to the horse? And particularly, is it associated with good animal ethics to use the horse for eventing? Finding answers to these questions is not easy as it probably is not a clear and simple answer.

Bakgrund: Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) är då djur ingår i behandlingsprogram med mål att förbättra fysisk och psykisk hälsa hos patienter med till exempel demens. Vård vid demenssjukdom skall bygga på ett personcentrerat förhållningssätt för att främja välmående eller livskvalitet hos den som blir vårdad. Verksam personal kan i viss utsträckning göra en bedömning av patientens observerade livskvalitet genom exempelvis bedöma smärtuttryck, eller tecken på oro.Syfte: Syftet med litteraturstudien var att undersöka om djurassisterad terapi med hund hade en påverkan i den observerade livskvaliteten hos personer med demenssjukdom.Metod: Litteraturstudie valdes för att skapa en övergripande inblick i det nuvarande forskningsområdet gällande hur personer med demenssjukdom påverkas av AAT i vissa avseenden. Databaser för artikelsökning som användes var CINAHL och PubMed.Nio kvantitativa artiklar valdes ut efter genomförd kvalitetsgranskning där de bedömdes ha antingen medel eller hög kvalitet. De valdes ut på kriterierna att de var skrivna på engelska, kvantitativa, var tillgängliga via Uppsala universitets sökmotor, kostnadsfria samt publicerade efter 1990.

Hälsans Trädgård is a project which is going to start in Gamla Linköping, Sweden. The authors were commissioned by Arbetslivsresurs, a company working with work rehabilitation, to select, define and make job analyses on five work tasks at Hälsans Trädgård in Gamla Linköping. A job analysis means an analysis of the demands the job make of the individual. The job analysis used in this study is called The Revised Handbook for Analyzing Jobs (RHAJ) and is from the US Department of Labor (DOL). As RHAJ is an American instrument, the authors produced a form where the concepts are translated into Swedish to make the analysis easier.

Hydrotherapy is a relatively new area when it comes to treatment and prevention of different problems in dogs, but an area that is growing in popularity. In Sweden, the person who performs hydrotherapy on dogs doesn?t need veterinary education, which is the case in some other countries. What makes hydrotherapy advantageous is that water has an ability to provide an environment where injured body parts can be supported, which means that rehabilitation can start early without the risk of affecting the injury and in the same time relieve the pain for the patient. There are only a few studies of hydrotherapy on dogs and these studies focus on the physical health of the dog.

In this degree project I have tried to analyse thoughts about what?s important in the future work among students that are leaving the Land and animal husbandry programme. I have also asked employer to understand to what degree they knew about the coming employees thoughts about the future. The method was a questionnaire which was sent to 14 schools of Land and animal husbandry. The questionnaire was answered by students in their last schoolterm. I got 167 answers from students. 11 employer also were asked about their ideas conserning the students thoughts about their coming work. The questions where about wages, working environement, responsibility and further education. The questions were multiple choise.

Syftet med denna studie var att jämföra antalet anpassade utomhuslekplatser i Norrlands kommuner sedan 2001, och få svar på de ansvarigas uppfattning gällande tillgänglighet och anpassning, då tidigare studier visat på brister gällande dessa områden. Barn med funktionsnedsättning riskerar att uppleva social isolering och diskriminering om utomhuslekplatsers fysiska miljö skapar barriärer. Enligt funktionshinderpolitiken ska Sveriges allmänna platser och byggnader vara tillgängliga för alla år 2016. Metod: En enkätundersökning med mixad metod genomfördes där enkäter postades till de ansvariga för utomhuslekplatser i Norrlands 54 kommuner. Resultat: Resultatet jämfördes genomgående med en studie från 2001.

The piglet mortality rates have become a major issue in today?s pig production. While other production traits such as number of born piglets or produced piglets per sow have been improved, the mortality rate has escalated. High mortality rates before weaning does not only affect the economy but must also be looked at as both an animal welfare problem and an ethical issue. The background to this problem has been addressed many times, and its salvation has also been addressed by breeding.

Beef cattle wintering outdoors should be provided a shelter, e.g. a type of barn or corresponding. This type of production requires appropriate soil types and secured animal welfare. For example, a clean and dry resting place needs to be provided to the animals. To receive an exemption for buildings the farmer has to have something equivalent that provides an adequate shelter.

Swedish farmers have the possibility to be subsidized by EU rural development programme for grazing animals on pastures to promote the biodiversity of flora and fauna. The environmental remedy sometimes does not allow supplementary feed and at the same time the Swedish Animal Welfare Act and the Swedish Agricultural Board?s regulations for animal welfare and protection states that animals, in this case horses, shall be fed with food of good quality and adapted for the species. The regulations also state that they should have an individual feeding regime that enables them to maintain a normal body condition. The aim with this master thesis has been to investigate if it is possible to keep Gotland ponies on extensive pastures, during late spring and summer and still maintain animal welfare. The horses were assessed every fourth week using a welfare assessment protocol developed in line with the Welfare Quality® project (submitted, Viksten et al) where physical, behavioural and resourcebased parameters were observed. Twelve one-year old stallions of the breed Gotland ponies purchased from different breeders were used in the study.

Autismspektrumtillstånd är en kognitiv funktionsnedsättning där problem som kommunikation, sociala samspel och föreställningsförmåga kan uppstå. Djur i vården påverkar positivt på människans hälsa. Djurunderstödda interventioner är aktiviteter eller terapiformer som sjuksköterskan kan använda vid omvårdnad av barn med autismspektrumtillstånd. Syfte: Att beskriva hur sällskapsdjur påverkar samt upplevs påverka barn med autismspektrumtillstånd.

Behovet och förekomsten av innovation och forskning inom sjukgymnastik ökar, däremot finns brister i innovationsprocessen som gör att de senaste innovationerna inte används i praktiken. Anledningen till detta kan vara många och finnas på olika nivåer i vårdprocessen. Innovationens och yrkesutövarens egenskaper, patienten, socialt och organisatoriskt och ekonomisk och politisk bakgrund kan vara områden som påverkar innovationsspridningen Syftet med studien var att undersöka förutsättningarna för innovationsspridning inom sjukgymnastikens arbetsfält. IBS patients experiences of eating the low FODMAP-dietIrritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common, functional gastrointestinal tract disorder. The disease is benign but may cause much suffering for the individual. The treatments available are used to relieve symptoms. One nutrition therapy is to exclude fermentable oligo-, di-, monosaccharide and polyols, so callde FODMAPS, from the diet. This diet is proven successful and even significantly better than the standard nutrition advice for IBS.

Alnarp?s Healing Garden is a place for rehabilitation as well as an ongoing multidisciplinary scientific research experiment. The garden is built on research results from the disciplines of Landscape architecture, Environmental Psychology and Garden Therapy. In the garden, people diagnosed with burnout syndromes are being rehabilitated. The participants need safe and calm environments which activate their bodies self healing systems. Theories show that water as an element, per se, increases the observer?s preference for an environment.
