Föreliggande studie omfattar en jämförelse mellan sättningsberäkningar med datorprogrammen FEM Design 11 (senast kommersiella versionen) och FEM Design 12 (betaversion under utveckling). I FEM Design 11 modelleras jorden med fjädrar som ges egenskaper motsvarande bäddmoduler, vilka inte på ett helt rättvisande sätt kan spegla jordens komplexa respons vid belastning. Fjädrar kan t.ex. inte överföra skjuvkrafter mellan varandra, vilket får till följd att de enskilda fjädrarnas respons vid belastning är oberoende av varandra. Vid analys av en byggnads sättningar, med ett datorprogram där endast fjädrar (bäddmoduler) används för att beskriva jordens deformationsegenskaper, kan således en helt korrekt bild över jordens verkliga beteende inte återspeglas. I FEM Design 12 kan jorden även modelleras med volymelement, vars egenskaper modelleras enligt kontinuumsmekanik.

A new project has developed at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Alnarp during the spring of 2006. The garden design students has, during the course Interior Garden Design designed and built an construction with a new range of plants for Swedish conservatories. The plants are mainly from the cool temperate areas, instead of the tropical which often are the most common in public spaces. This means, among other things, that the cost for warming is very low. The working process and the construction carried on as workshops in the conservatory at Trädgårdslaboratoriet in Alnarp. During a few weeks the hole construction is completed.

MobisleApps utvecklar och underhåller en applikation för mobila enheter så som iPhone och Android som heter MobisleNotes. Denna applikation ger användaren möjlighet att skriva anteckningar i mobilen och synkronisera dessa till en extern server. MobisleApps vill erbjuda ytterligare möjligheter för användarna att skriva anteckningarna och har bestämt sig för göra detta med hjälp av en webbläsare och ett gränssnitt mot den externa servern.Detta examensarbete syftar till att ta fram ett sådant webbgränssnitt och att undersöka om detgår att använda något ur de nya standarderna för Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) och Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).Genom att utveckla ett webbgränssnitt som ger användaren möjlighet att logga in, skapa, ändra och ta bort anteckningar som synkroniseras till telefonen via en extern server har jag uppfyllt de krav som ställdes.Slutsatsen av rapporten är att det är möjligt att använda en del nya HTML5 och CSS3 funktionalitet och egenskaper. Detta om det görs för att förstärka webbgränssnittets funktionalitet och utseende medan man inte förlitar sig på att alla användare kommer att ha en uppdaterad webbläsare. Annars är risken stor att man stänger ute användare som inte kan ellervet hur man uppdaterar sin webbläsare..

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a versatile wireless technology usedworldwide. The fields of applications are many and its popularity constantlygrows due to smaller in size, better and less expensive components. RFID isused to identify, track or share information about an object using radio waves.This master thesis describes the process of designing and implementing ahandheld UHF RFID reader. The goal was to, based on a UHF RFID-chipdesign a fully functional, small in size and power efficient device. Amicrocontroller provides the user interface and is also used to control theRFID-chip and a Bluetooth device.

I saliv förekommer ett enzym, kallat alfa-amylas, som kan ge en fingervisning om en persons upplevda stressnivå. Förekomsten av alfa-amylas kan testas genom att låta droppa ett salivprov på ett särskilt slags filterpapper, som sedan färgas klarblått. Hastigheten på färgningen har visats kunna stå i förhållande till aktiviteten av alfa-amylas, och har tidigare mätts med fotodiod. Det här arbetet har undersökt den tekniska görbarheten i att använda en mobilbaserad lösning istället, detta för att öka tillgängligheten av att kunna utföra dessa mätningar. I arbetet har en lämplig mätmetod först sökts genom att analysera en datamängd med bildsekvenser tagna med mobilkamera.

Marknaden för smartphones har vuxit stort under de senaste åren och även utveckling av applikationer till dessa. Då utveckling av applikationer för smartphones skiljer sig från traditionell utveckling så passar inte traditionella utvecklingsprocesser för utveckling till smartphones på ett optimalt sätt. Denna studie undersöker mobilapplikationsutveckling med fokus på användbarhet. Då det råder brist på systemutvecklingsprocesser för mobilapplikationsutveckling så vill denna studie utvärdera ISO standarden ?ISO 9241-210 ? Användarcentrerad design för interaktiva system?.

Package design constitutes an important marketing and differentiation tool in an increasingly competitive food market, particularly in the category of daily consumer goods where the turnover rate is high and the purchases are based on self-service (Hine, 1997; Spethmann, 1994; Underwood, 1999). Media fragmentation undermines the traditional marketing tools and the demands for packaging are bigger than ever. A package must not only sell a product, but also tell, through design, how the product is used and express the values that the trademark owner wishes to convey to the end customer (Underwood, 1998). The understanding of the role of packaging as a marketing tool has increased, but the initiators inside the packaging industry in Sweden still think that the Swedish packaging industry is developing slowly. They often describe Swedish packages as homogeneous and unimaginative.

The project was carried out with SwedSafe AB, engaged in hearing and manufacture of earplugs. Since the company is a world leader in the sale of these products, it is important that they keep a higher level of quality of these products.Production of earplugs is currently a automated manufacturing process that is divided into four conveyor belts and one of the conveyor belts is what will be affected in the project. The belt affected during this process is exposed to various elements such as filling, closing, fermentation and extraction of products. Because the belt gets dirty, degraded products and the work environment is affected. To increase the quality of products and improve the working environment requires an automatic cleaning process, which collects dirt from the belt.The aim of the project is to design a machine that prevents the belt from becoming dirty, preserve molds clean and improve the working environment without disrupting production.

In motorsports competition, safety reasons require that the vehicle is equipped with some form of protective roll cage. The roll cage should withstand the forces involved in a collision to protect the driver and the co-driver from the vehicle body deformation. The roll cage also works to protect the vehicle from excessive deformations to more easily make any repairs afterwards. For the roll cage to be certified and approved for motorsports competition, it requires that the cage is built after one of the recommended options. One of those options is to design the roll cage like a cross-construction at the driver and co-driver doors.

Enheten ABB Components i Ludvika har en avdelning som tillverkar kontrollskåp till transformatorer, denna produkt kallas för TEC. Produkten började utvecklas 1999 och har funnits tillgänglig på marknaden sedan 2002 i två olika modeller. Produktutvecklingen inom ABB ska ske effektivt och inom givna ramar för kvalitet, tid, kostnad och specifikationer. Det är även viktigt att hela företagets kompetens aktivt utnyttjas genom hela utvecklingsprocessen.

Detta examensarbete beskriver processen för framtagandet av en ny design för det befintliga schemaläggningssystemet för räddningstjänsten. Ett av problemen med att schemalägga för personalen inom räddningstjänsten är att det är flera faktorer som måste tas hänsyn till. Några av dessa faktorer är vilken station de arbetar på, personalens kompetens, att det ska finnas personal på stationerna och arbetsroller. Syftet med examensarbetet var att skapa en ny design som uppskattas av de som arbetar med systemet. För att uppnå detta var de som schemalägger med och påverkade designen av systemet tidigt i designprocessen.Detta examensarbete innefattar en litteraturstudie, en förstudie, en intervjustudie, en fokusgrupp och två användartester.

This is a thesis about design of young stands of trees. A big source of inspiration has been Västerskog and Tor Nitzelius Park in Alnarp which both consists of a structure of squares. I wanted to examine if this type of planting could be valuable from an aesthetic and recreational point of view. One problem today is that many people believe that we have to wait for decades for a planting to grow up so that we can enjoy the ?ready result?.

The euthropthication of the Baltic Sea is a threat that is beginning to be taken seriously by the governments concerned. In Sweden, regulations concerning the allowed nitrogen (N) concentration in the effluent water from wastewater treatment plants are being tightened up. The Rimbo wastewater treatment plant has been imposed to reduce the annual mean concentration of total N in the effluent water to levels below 15 mg l-1. A more and more common way to reduce the nitrogen level in wastewater is to let the water pass through a wetland. This study investigates the possibility to build this kind of wetland at the outlet of the Rimbo wastewater treatment plant.A prestudy of the topography, soil characteristics and groundwater flow indicates that the land area in question is well suited for the construction of a wetland.

For several years Uppsala University together with several companies has been involved in a WISENET project aimed at improving railway transport security. By placing a sensor system near the wheels of each wagon, the temperature of the bearings can be measured and transmitted to a collector placed centrally on the wagon. This in turn transmits the collected data to RFID receivers placed intermittently along the railway.As the signals are transmitted wirelessly, problems may occur as the antennas get dirty or coated with ice and snow. To determine the effects of these coatings, several tests were performed examining the reflection coefficient S11, the impedance Z11 and the efficiency eta of an antenna, and how they varied when various coatings were placed over the antenna. Examined coatings were ice, snow and water to determine the effects of weather, and various metal-based coatings: powdered iron both pure and partially oxidized, and iron ore granules.

The landscape is a great asset for Göteborg as a city and places in the landscape are much used by the public. This diploma work deals with the question of how nature in Göteborg can become more accessible and how a place in it can be supplemented with new landscape elements. It is a proposal for a new urban park at Björlanda peninsula in the western part of Hisingen, Göteborg, which today belongs to the Swedish Armed Forces and is a part of the Nature-2000 area "Nordre älvs estuarium". The reason for choosing this place is that it is the only area around the costal area in Göteborg that has not been built on and that it contains a very varied landscape. The proposal is presented as three different broschures, dated 10-20 years ahead: A map of a possible system of urban parks including a detail of such a park, Västra Hisingen (the western parts of Hisingen) The idea with a system of urban parks is to make the landscape generally more accessible and maybe open it for people that do not use it today.
