This paper deals with the use of Internet at Swedish public libraries. The author asks whether public libraries should or should not limit access to information available on the Internet. Starting from the American discussion, concerning Internet at public libraries, the author shows the Swedish attitudes. The paper demonstrates that many Swedish public libraries have adopted rules forbidding retrieval of certain kinds of information, such as hard-core pornography and racist propaganda. The persons in charge of such actions claim that public libraries should provide high-quality educational literature and should not spread mass-produced, provocative information.

The purpose of this thesis was to create a strategic/tactical road access plan. This was done by designing an analytical method which gives the road manager a template to create long-term road access plans. The analytical method will help to identify and appraise roads to be upgraded and give information when it is time for building new roads. The study method involved developing an analytical method. The method was comprised of five main parts: the harvest plan, analysis of the road network, transport costs, quality and storage costs and finally, identification of investment alternatives.

This thesis analyses the conditions for subject indexing of fiction by studying the relationship between the nature of fiction and the properties of subject indexing. The analysis is founded on a reading of a recently published Swedish subject headings list and uses a theoretical framework of Adornos theory of modern reason. The study is conducted through a qualitative text analysis in three steps. In the first step the subject headings list is analysed by examining how it provides subject access to fiction by the aspects of form, frame and subject. In the second step of the analysis these aspects of subject access are analysed and discussed by relating them to relevant research of subject indexing of fiction.

Logistics and supply chain management in the construction sector is an area with great potential for improvements. Today, a lot of the workers time is spent on non-value adding activities. Research has shown that waste is a large proportion of the total production cost in building projects today.The purpose of this report is to analyze problems concerning logistics in the construction sector. Two of Skanska?s construction projects in Uppsala have been analyzed to identify problems.

Syftet med denna uppsats Àr att undersöka hur förmÄgan till interoperabilitet ser ut i dag, mellanlogistiksystem i USA, Storbritannien, Tyskand och Sverige, utifrÄn en övergripande nivÄ.Uppsatsen grundar sig pÄ litteraturstudier och har genomförts med utgÄngspunkt i manöverteorinoch teorin om operativ logistik.Den empiriska undersökningen bestÄr av en jÀmförelse av lÀndernas nyttjande av respektivelogistiksystem utifrÄn deras förmÄga till flexibilitet, tempo och effektivitet. Den efterföljandeanalysen visar pÄ eventuella likheter och skillnader. Hur dessa likheter/skillnader sedan pÄverkarlÀndernas förmÄga till interoperabilitet undersöks och dÀrefter sker en analys för att visa hur derasförmÄgan till samarbete vid multinationella operationer ser ut i dag.Slutsatserna i uppsatsen besvarar delfrÄgorna:·  Vad finns det för likheter och skillnader i lÀndernas nyttjandet av respektivelogistiksystem?·  Hur pÄverkar likheterna/skillnaderna respektive lands förmÄga till logistiskt samarbete?.

Heat stress negatively influences the performance of dairy cattle such as lactation and reproduction. Heat stress can cause production losses as well as welfare problems. Years of research have shown that heat stress is a huge problem for dairy cattle in both the tropics and temperate zones but no such research have so far been done in northern European countries. It seems like shade is an important tool when improving pasture conditions and therefore deserves more attention. The aim with this study was to investigate whether there is a need of providing shade for grazing dairy cows during the summer in Sweden. Two groups of lactating Swedish Red dairy cows (n=15 per group) were kept on pasture.

The purpose of this master?s thesis is to investigate children?s access to specific children?s activities at Swedish public libraries 2005. The thesis is based on literature studies and qualitative interviews with children?s librarians, library directors and local politicians at two demographically different libraries in Gothenburg.The sub questions are: What measures exist to promote children?s access to public libraries and children?s activities when it comes to: law and other political statements: different efforts on the state level and different efforts on the municipal level in the direct activity with children at public libraries? What driving forces and needs justify activities for children at public libraries? How will the responsible persons judge that the efforts are sufficient? The result of the study shows that children?s access to library activity has increased in the last couple of years due to reorganization, economic savings with closing down of library affiliates and because libraries have given priority to other things, like IT and new media. Children?s librarians have got new assignments and less time for children?s activity.The conclusion of our investigation is that children?s librarians are ambitious in their work, but unfortunately don?t give children?s library activity adequate resources.

Internet access has been a part of the range in public libraries for approximately a decade. The Swedish municipals, in charge of the public libraries, and the libraries themselves, have a great deal of saying in how they should be run, what to offer the public, how many hours they have to stay open etcetera. The Library law is very vague on many things, including public Internet access. Even though Sweden is ranked as first runner up worldwide when it comes to Internet penetration among the population (Internet World Stats 2007), approximately twenty percent in the 16-74 age group does not have Internet access at home, at work or at school (SCB 2006a). In this master thesis we try to determine, through personal interviews, how six of those in charge feel about Internet at their libraries, all located in medium-sized municipals (20 000 ? 40 000 inhabitants), why they have chosen the rules and regulations they have and their thoughts about what they consider to be the most important assignment of public libraries.

The departure point of this thesis is the context of the institution and the processes surrounding the handling of personal archives at the National Library of Sweden. These processes are examined using Actor Network Theory. Around the personal archive a network is constructed and contained by actors ? the archive itself, the librarian, the conservator, the researcher, organizational structures and others. Within this network choices are made of what is significant.

This master thesis work was done by two students at Machine Design at KTH for Lesjöfors StockholmsfjÀder AB. The task was to develop a calculation program for gas springs. The program is going to ease the selection of gas springs for a given case of a lid that should be opened. The program is going to be used internal by sales people at Lesjöfors AB in Sweden and internationally. The program is therefore written in English.The program was developed in Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition.

Detta kandidatarbete utreder hur vÀl tvÄ operativsystems inbyggda brandvÀggar fungerar i symbios med en anvÀndares vanligaste tjÀnsteutnyttjande pÄ Internet, samt att se hur likartade de Àr i sitt skydd frÄn hot. De tvÄ operativsystemen som vi utgick ifrÄn var Microsoft Windows XP samt Red Hat Linux 8.0. Den hypotes vi arbetat kring lyder enligt följande: De tvÄ inbyggda brandvÀggarna Àr i stort likartade rörande skydd frÄn hot pÄ Internet och uppfyller anvÀndarnas tjÀnsteutnyttjande. De metoder vi anvÀnt, för att svara pÄ vÄr frÄgestÀllning, har delats upp i ett funktionalitetstest och ett sÀkerhetstest. I funktionalitetstestet provades de vanligaste InternettjÀnsterna med den inbyggda brandvÀggen och ifall det uppstod nÄgra komplikationer eller ej. De tvÄ inbyggda brandvÀggarna genom gick i sÀkerhetstestet skannings- och svaghetskontroll via ett flertal verktyg. Genom resultatet kan vi konstatera att de inbyggda brandvÀggarna klarar av de vanligaste tjÀnsterna pÄ Internet, men att en skillnad föreligger hos dem vad gÀller exponeringen ut mot Internet.

 We have chosen to write our thesis within a transport company. The work was carried out at DHL activities in Uppsala. DHL is one of the leading transport companies worldwide. Our interest lies in more efficient and advanced transportation and terminals, as globalization and new trends require effective solutions.The aim of our work is to explain the need for information technology applications in road haulage and associated terminal operations. Furthermore, we analyses terminal and applied information technology.

Vi har i vÄr studie tittat pÄ dynamisk webbprogrammering med fokus pÄ Microsofts senaste teknik ASP.NET. Studien syftar till att ta reda pÄ varför systemutvecklande organisationer infört ASP.NET, vilka förvÀntningar de har pÄ tekniken och vilka utvecklingsverktyg som anvÀnds. Vi har arbetat enligt ett hermeneutiskt synsÀtt för att fÄ kvalitativ förstÄelse och ett helhetsperspektiv. Vi har valt semistrukturerade intervjuer för datainsamling och för analysen har vi valt en anpassad variant av Grundad teori. VÄrt resultat visar att nÄgra av anledningarna till införandet av ASP.NET hos organisationerna i studien beror dels pÄ att de vill ligga lÄngt fram i anvÀndandet av nya tekniker, dels upplever de att krav stÀlls pÄ dem att de ska tillhandahÄlla och behÀrska de senaste utvecklingsteknologierna.
