Differences of progressive retinal atrophy in dogs
A group of diseases that affect the dog?s sight is progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) a disease that means that the photoreceptors in the retina of the eye either not develop normally or undergo degeneration and thereby causes vision loss and blindness. The disease affects many different breeds and is inherited. What have been shown is that it is different genes that had become mutated in the different breeds, this conclude that despite similar clinical symptoms, the underlying reason could be different. Also the genes that are mutated in dogs and give rise to diseases also exists in humans.
Plasmacytos (Aleutian disease)hos vild mink i Sverige

Animals in zoos live in small enclosed areas. If a pathogen is introduced to the zoo, the animals are extremely vulnerable. The highest risk of introducing new pathogens occurs when new animals are introduced to the collection. Therefore it is essential that zoos have a protocol in place for disease prevention.
This review has studied literature on the subject of disease prevention protocols when translocating animals between zoos.
Hypertrofisk kardiomyopati hos en familj brittiska korthårskatter :
The objectives of this study was to examine the prevalence of hypertrophic
cardiomyopathy in a family of British Shorthaircats to determine the mode of
inheritance and to investigate if the disease was associated with a mutation in myosin
binding proteinC (MyBPC3). The family comprised 28 cats, seven male and 21
females. The cats underwent a physical examination, including cardiac auscultation,
and an ultrasound examination. Blood was collected for DNA- analysis. The
blodsamples were sent in a buffer solution to Kathryn Meurs, Washington State
University, USA for analysis, where the genes coding for MyBPC, Troponin I and T
were characterized using microsequencing technique.
Out of the 28 cats, 8 were diagnosed with HCM, 2 were diagnosed with congenital
heart disease but had no evidence of HCM.

The most common specified causes were to feel ashamed of their disease and that the mentally ill persons did not think they would be properly understood.Almost the half of the participant experienced that they had some form of difficulty to be open about their mental disorder in front of health professionals and the most common specified causes was that the participant did not thought that they would be properly understood or that they did not felt confidence before the health professionals. Conclusion: Young adults with psychological disease have difficulty to be open about their disease, partly because of stigma.
