WesDyne TRC AB is a fully owned subsidiary of the global WestinghouseElectric Corporation. WesDyne is a world leader in non-invasive methods for theinspection of nuclear power plants. One of the inspection platforms used to scanfor defects in and around the welds in the reactor vessel is called the T-crawler.The T-crawler operates under water in a radioactive environment by stepping onthe vessel (reactor tank) inner wall using suction cups. The environment is harshand many traditional positioning sensors are not suitable for implementation. Thisthesis investigates the possibility to use a gyroscope and a pressure sensor tocreate an alternative and independent positioning system.

Miljön är viktig för människans aktivitetsutförande och ett område där arbetsterapeuten kan göra nytta med sin specifika kunskap. Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka hur arbetsterapeuter inom kommunal verksamhet själva upplever sin psykosociala arbetsmiljö och om en eventuell förändring skulle påverka deras arbetsförmåga. Syftet var även att studera hur deras upplevda psykosociala arbetsmiljö påverkade deras arbetsförmåga enligt Karasek & Theorells krav- kontroll- stödmodell. För att besvara studiens syfte gjordes en enkätundersökning bland kommunanställda arbetsterapeuter där de fick besvara frågor som handlade om krav, kontroll och stöd. Resultatet visade att respondenterna upplevde en god psykosocial arbetsmiljö och efter det att resultatet analyserats enligt krav- kontroll- stöd modellen visade det att arbetsterapeuterna befann sig i den bästa kombinationen för att ha en bra arbetsförmåga.

Artros är en folksjukdom som kan påverka alla leder i kroppen. Artros i händerna är vanligast bland kvinnor. Enligt rådande forskning ger denna form av artros en stor inverkan på vardagliga aktiviteter, men det beskrivs inget om på vilket sätt det påverkar. Syftet med studien var således att belysa hur kvinnor med artros i händerna upplevde konsekvenser i vardagliga aktiviteter. Kvalitativ ansats användes och metoden var semistrukturerad intervju.

Allt fler i dagens samhälle drabbas av någon form av ätstörningar. Det finns olika teorier och faktorer som bidrar till att en person drabbas av en ätstörning. Det kan vara trycket från media/samhället, trycket från sig själv, en känsla av att behöva kontroll över sitt liv eller helt enkelt börja som en viljemässig bantning som sedan övergår i ätstörningar.Syftet med studien var att ta reda på hur personer med ätstörningar upplever arbetsterapibehandling.Det finns inte mycket dokumenterat om hur en arbetsterapeut arbetar med personer med ätstörningar och några utvärderingar om hur behandlingen fungerar är mycket svårt att hitta. För att kunna ta reda på personernas egna upplevelser användes en kvalitativ ansats med semistrukturerade intervjuer I studien framkom att det är långt ifrån alla personer, som behandlas för ätstörningar, som får hjälp av en arbetsterapeut. Deltagarna i studien fick olika sorters behandling för sin ätstörning och de fick bland annat använda sig av skapande aktiviteter med inriktning på bild, matgrupper och tidsdagböcker.Behandlingen hjälpte personerna att få en bättre dagstruktur samt att skingra tankarna från maten..

Vattenfall district Heating power plant in Uppsala produces district cooling with absorption heat pumps which leads to a large amount of waste heat that has to be cooled with evaporative cooling towers. The Environmental Court has ordered Vattenfall to survey the possibilities to recover the heat, which is the focus of this thesis.The study begins with an overview of the system, and conditions and limitations for waste heat recovery is examined. In the next step alternatives to recycle the heat is evaluated, either by direct recovering or by upgrading.First, the technical possibility of each alternative is discussed, and then the operation time and the amount of recovered heat is calculated. Those alternatives which are possible are brought further to an economic analysis.The cost of investment for each alternative constitutes the basis for a present value analysis. The results are put together in a table where the total amount of recovered heat is compared with the present value for the different alternatives.

The beta value is frequently described in theory and is a well known factor to quantify the systematic risk in shares through the CAPM model. Initially, this study describes the advantages and difficulties with the estimating process and the problematic nature of the assumptions and descisons included in published beta values.An alternative method, Bottom-up beta, to estimate the beta value that probably has not been tested under Swedish circumstances is applied. The problems and decisions that have to be made to derive an alternative value are studied in detail through six separate steps. I have chosen nine companies at the Stockholm Stock Exchange where this method is used. The result showed that the systematic risk were higher at five shares and lower at four, compared to the published values.Finally there is a discussion about the practise, usefulness and opinions concerning how to estimate and interpret the beta value to determine the expected return..

The purpose of the study is to highlight the issue of student loans securitization, and assure the importance and benefits that could be realized by performing such a transaction. The methodology is a case study for The National Board of Student Aid. It is a qualitative study, mainly using interviews, literature and scientific articles. By using this information we construct a securitization transaction structure ?CSN 2006-1?, and conduct a cost/benefit analysis.

Alternative splicing is a process that partly rejects the common definition of a gene ? that one gene codes for one specific protein. By variable combination of coding regions (exons) and exclusion of non-coding regions (introns), formation of several different mRNA-transcripts, and consequently several different proteins, can derive from the same gene. Alternative splicing is an important condition for the development of complex life forms, but it is also a highly sensitive process and inaccurate splicing is the cause of approximately 15 % of mutations that cause genetic diseases. This article presents four genes, BRCA1, BRCA2, ER? and ER?, and inaccurate splicing of these genes increases the risk of developing cancer, particularly breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

Juvenil Idiopatisk Artrit, JIA, är en sjukdom vars fysiska symptom kan försena utvecklingen av barnets grovmotorik, vilket kan hindra barnets integration i den sociala och fysiska miljön. Skolgården är den kontext där barnet ofta leker och där fysisk och social utveckling sker. I lek med andra barn ges barnet möjlighet till upplevelse av delaktighet, vilket är av grundläggande betydelse för god hälsa. Studiens syfte var att undersöka hur barn med JIA upplever delaktighet i lek i skolgårdsmiljö. Metoden som användes var kvalitativa intervjuer där undersökningsgruppen bestod av fyra barn i åldern nio till 13 år.

The female dog has a unique reproductive endocrinology, with high levels of progesterone throughout the 70-day long luteal phase. In this project, markers of glucose metabolism were studied and compared from the aspects of breed group and time in oestral cycle. The parameters studied were: glucose, insulin, progesterone, fructosamine and the newly introduced analysis of HbA1c. Hba1c was also further evaluated and discussed as a diagnostic tool in canine medicine.No differences in terms of glucose markers were found between a group of purebreed dogs of various breeds compared to a group of dogs with high risk of dioestrus diabetes, namely the Norwegian and Swedish elkhounds.No differences were found between the two sample occasions, anoestrus and dioestrus, concluding that there is no need for relating test results to the time of the oestrous cycle in middle-aged intact female dogs.There were statistically significant higher values of all glucose markers in diabetic dogs than in non-diabetic dogs. When it came to HbA1c, however, there was a larger overlap between the two groups, compared to fructosamine.

Långvarig smärta är ett problem för många människor i hela världen och kan innebära svårigheter att utföra de aktiviteter man vill, måste eller förväntas utföra. Syftet med uppsatsen var att beskriva vilka dagliga aktiviteter patienter med långvarig smärta ansåg vara viktigast att förändra samt att undersöka om aktivitetsutförande och aktivitetstillfredsställelse förändrades efter smärtrehabilitering. Studien genomfördes efter avslutad rehabilitering på en multimodal smärtrehabilitering i Skåne. Undersökningsgruppen bestod av 46 patienter, 11 män och 35 kvinnor. Instrumentet Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) användes samt patienternas egna kommentarer till förändringen kategoriserades och sammanställdes.

Contents:The evolution of today?s computer influenced society has taken giant steps towards virtual reality, game addictions and the possibility of not having to meet the people we communicate with. What is a reality today?To give a more concrete image of our question we?ve chosen the online game World of Warcraft as an example and to describe our connection to an alternative reality. We have performed different investigations, interviewed both gamers and non gamers, all this to give us the opportunity to see if the term reality has started to change in a direction that will allow us to call this alternative world a reality, or if it?s just a world wide phenomena of for example gaming addiction.

The purpose of this study was to examine people's experiences of self-medication with cannabis in relation to post-traumatic stress disorder and professions? opinions of cannabis for medical use. The study focuses on norms and values as well as its impact on individuals. A qualitative approach was used with thematically open interview questions, in order to gain an insight into the interviewees? reality and their experiences.
