The purpose of this study has been to create a better understading of how face?to?face activities in course´s impacts on the experience of interaction within a course.More specifically, the study puts the student'?s perception of how mandatory face?to?face activities affect and are affected by the interaction in focus. This is done by the following research questions. What affects the student'?s perception of face?to?face activities? Which interaction dimension affects the factors that influence students perception of the activities? Which interaction dimension is influenced by the student'?s perception of the activities?The theoretical base is Wagner'?s (1994) three types of interaction and Andersson´s(2003) theory of interaction dimensions.

Zoo animals can be more or less disturbed by the presence of care takers as well as visitors. This may lead to stress and/or abnormal behaviour. The purpose with this study was to give a time budget of the behaviour of the captive wolves? (Canis lupus) and occurrence of behavioural disturbances and how this is affected of human visitors. For this purpose the wolves at Nordens Ark have been studied during off season as well as on season. The zoo Nordens Ark is an idealistic foundation which was founded in 1988 and is located at Åby säteri, 130 km north of Gothenburg.

ALA-fatty acids have previously been associated with decreased blood pressure. Flaxseed oil is very rich in these fatty acids and has also been highlighted as an affordable and sustainable source.Objective: To investigate whether ALA-fatty acids from flaxseed oil may affect blood pressure in people with high risk for cardiovascular disease.Search strategy: Two searches in PubMed and Scopus were performed. The sample was specified by using specific keywords.Selection criteria: The criteria for inclusion of studies required that flaxseed oil was compared with a control and that blood pressure was measured as an endpoint.

A plant's defensive ability against herbivore attack can be influenced by many different factors, one of them being domestication. During human selection to improve the yield of plants, the resistance against herbivore attack can have been lowered, due to a trade-off for use of resources between these traits in the plants. In this thesis I investigated the effect of domestication on resistance against herbivorous insects in cotton plants. I used different varieties and species of wild and domesticated cotton in three different experiments. A feeding assay was conducted, the mortality, development time and pupal weight of larvae of the Egyptian cotton leaf worm Spodoptera littoralis was studied. In a second experiment the preference of the root-feeding beetle Agriotes spp.

In the 1970´s the North American lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta) was introduced to Sweden in large scale. The lodgepole pine affects its new environment different from Scots pine (P. sylvestris), leading to a change in biological diversity. Forestry today affects the ground beetle fauna (Carabidae). Habitat specialists associated with older forests are first affected. When the canopy closes again after a clear-cutting species that prefer open habitats reduces and those who prefer mature/closed forests increase. In this study we compare differences in diversity and community structure of ground beetles in stands of lodgepole pine and Scots pine.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att med hjälp av exempel och illustrationer förklara och klargöra tillvägagångssättet för Amin och Kat?s version av Dybvig?s Pay-off Distribution Pricing Model samt Keating och Schadwick?s Omegafunktion. Vidare ämnas Pay-off Distribution Pricing Model, Omegafunktionen, Sharpekvoten, Jensen?s Alpha och Treynor-index beräknas på icke-normalfördelade distributioner i form av avkastningar på hedgefonder samt normalfördelade avkastnings-distributioner på aktiefonder. Resultaten från dessa beräkningar kommer att rankas och jämföras främst genom att söka observera likheter och olikheter.

Det smörjs oftast in på hästens ben eller rygg och påstås kunna motverka överansträngning genom att mjuka upp muskulaturen innan ansträngning, påskynda dess återhämtning efter träning samt motverka inflammation och ödem. Liniment kan innehålla extrakt från växter som traditionellt inom folkmedicinen har använts som medicinalväxter och anses ha effekt på en rad olika besvär såsom t.ex. muskelvärk och svullnader. Denna litteraturstudie syftar till att undersöka om några växtextrakt som kan förekomma i hästliniment har antiinflammatoriska och/eller analgetiska egenskaper.

Övervikt hos hund är ett växande problem med en rapporterad incidens på 22-40 %. Tillståndet definieras som ett överskott av fettvävnad i kroppen, beroende på rubbad energibalans. Överviktiga individer drabbas ofta av sekundära hälsoeffekter så som diabetes mellitus och insulinresistens, andningsbesvär, förhöjt blodtryck, ortopediska tillstånd och njurproblem. Överviktiga hundar har även kortare livslängd än normalviktiga hundar. Överviktiga hundar har abnormala lipoproteinvärden med högre plasmakoncentrationer av både triglycerider och kolesterol jämfört med normalviktiga hundar. De har också en rubbad balans av så kallade adipokiner som utsöndras av fettvävnaden.
