The Pitted ware dwelling site Ajvide on the west coast of Gotland in the Baltic Sea is, because of its long continuity from the late Mesolithic to the middle of the Scandinavian Bronze Age, an interesting research object concerning Stone Age in the Baltic area. In this essay, a comparison between two activity areas on Ajvide have been carried out in the purpose of finding out what these areas may have been used for during the middle Neolithic.  It has been showed, through zooarchaeological analyses of animal bones, that the areas most likely are depositing sites for slaughters refuse and food debris. If it is a result of everyday or more ceremonial activities is left undetermined..

A current debate is going on in Sweden about the health-care organization, how it is structured today and how it should be structured in the future. Despite major changes in the county council structures, they still got problems with for instance economy and the providing of staff. As an answer to these problems new solutions are being developed.In this thesis I examine such a solution consisting of cooperation between county councils. The aim of the thesis is to examine how and why the county councils in Sörmland and Västmanland have made a decision regarding cooperation over the administrative border.My contribution is to construct a model over change and decision processes that can be used in other cases as well. The conclusion is partly that the decision to cooperate is built on changing structural factors, such as economy, demography and medical development.

The loss of habitat is one of the greatest threats to global biodiversity today. Consequences to a species inhabiting fragmented habitats include: group size changes, altered diets and altered foraging behaviours. In my study I observed Colobus anlgolensis palliatus troops living in the forests of Diani, a highly developed area on the Kenyan coast. I looked for differences in behaviours between three troops inhabiting pristine forest patches and three troops inhabiting highly degraded forest areas. I used focal animal sampling with instantaneous sample points.

Texten är utformad som en postkolonialistisk fallstudie av jämställdhet och etnisk mångfald i Malmös arbetsliv. Malmös arbetsliv utgörs i denna uppsats av Arbetsförmedlingen och Malmö stad som arbetsgivare. Det postkoloniala perspektivet innebär en utveckling av genusperspektivet. Vi har i banor av ett forskningsmässigt nydanande begrepp, kallat intersektionalitet, sökt mot-svarigheter i praktiken genom intervjuer utförda med representanter från Malmös arbetsliv. Vidare utförs en diskursanalys av Arbetsmarknadsverkets integrations- och antidiskrimineringsarbete och en viktig slutsats är att den saknar ett interagerande maktperspektiv där kön och etnicitet samverkar.

Denna uppsats är en fallstudie av upplösningen på konflikten på Nordirland. Den söker med hjälp att teoribildningarna kring ?track two diplomacy? och underrättelsetjänst utröna vilken roll ?track two diplomacy? spelade för fredsprocessen på Nordirland, och om underrättelsetjänst krävs för denna form av diplomati i polariserade konflikter ska kunna verka.Konflikten på Nordirland var en mycket polariserad och långdragen. I fredsprocessen har track two diplomacy varit förekommande, och i konflikten var underrättelsetjänsten en utmärkande faktor, detta gör Nordirland till en god fallstudie.Studien visar att utan track two diplomacy hade inte fredsprocessen givit så goda resultat som det reella. Samt att underrättelsetjänsten genom MI6 officeraren Michael Oatley haft en viktig roll för denna diplomati, genom att skapa och utnyttja kontakter med IRA vilket ledde arbetet till konkreta diplomatiska resultat.

Vår uppsats är en komparativ studie av Rwanda och Burundi. I fokus står på vilket sätt etnisk polarisering har skapats och lett till återkommande konflikter. Den övergripande frågeställningen lyder: Varför har Rwanda upplevt svårare konflikter än Burundi? Vad har de båda länderna gemensamt och vad skiljer dem åt? Båda Rwanda och Burundi är rankade etniska system där social klass och etnicitet sammanfaller vilket har lett till konflikternas speciella karaktär. Rankade system kan utvecklas åt olika håll dess två länder är goda exempel på detta.I fråga om polariseringen av etniska grupper visar vi att det är myter som har spelat stor roll.

The Pallas cat is a small cat living in central Asia. The cat is approximately the size of a domestic cat but the Pallas cat is more stocky build and has a much thicker fur that enables the cat to live in a climate with temperatures plummeting to -50°C. The thick fur is one of the reasons this cat has been a popular game for hunters in the past. Nowadays there are other threats to the Pallas cat. One of the major threats today is the reduction of food sources.

Terrorattackerna 11 september 2001 kom att innebära dramatiska förändringar av den amerikanska utrikespolitiken. Syftet med denna uppsats är att med hjälp av två olika teorier förklara denna förändring. För analysen av George W. Bush används kognitiv teori och för att analysera förhandlingsspelet mellan de centrala aktörerna inom USA:s utrikesförvaltning används Graham Allisons modell Governmental Politics,Analysen visar att Bush efter 11 september omtolkar förutsättningar för USA i världen och sin egen roll som president. Han tar en mer aktiv roll i skapandet av en ny utrikespolitisk strategi.

Today the individual ventilated cage system (IVC-system) is the most commonly used system when housing rodents. IVC systems are designed to control both supply and exhausted air at cage level, as well as temperature and relative humidity in the cages. This creates an optimal environment for the mouse and at the same time a protection against the risk of cross-infection between cages and the outside environment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the health and welfare for two different strains of laboratory mice (NMRI nude mice and C57BL/6NCrl mice) in three different kinds of IVC-systems; Arrowmight, Allentown and Tecniplast. 108 mouse pups from each strain (in total 216 mice) were selected after weaning at an age of three weeks and tested during 5 weeks.

The purpose of this study was to analyse the concept of empowerment and its meaning in the political document "En Förnyad Folkhälsopolitik" from the present Swedish government, containing guidelines and politics in the area of public health. The underlying question was if it could be considered as representative for some kind of general "empowerment approach" since the concept is central to the very definition of social work by the International Federation of Social Workers IFSW and International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW).By comparing its definition and consequences in the document with a historical review of different contexts of empowerment the conclusion was made that such a common approach doesn´t exist at all. The meaning of empowerment in the central document showed some similarities with the "northamerican" version of the concept represented by the social scientist Charles Murray, which is just one of the political meanings of empowerment. Alternative ways of understanding the concept was also presented such as being a tool of a constant conflict between central political principles or as a fashionable but not important word. Another alternative was to consider it a means of power through witch different political discourses tries to dominate the world..

The main purpose of this study was to establish to what extent undergraduate students use reference services, what knowledge they have about those services and what their views of them are.The survey took place at Lund University Library, UB1, the main library responsible for collections in social sciences, humanities, theology and law. A total of 476 undergraduate students were asked to fill in a questionnaire, 273 accepted. The study is quantitative and was carried out during the autumn semester, 1996.The results show that the service used most frequently by undergraduate students is the reference collection. The least used service is the Internet, more than 50 percent of the students never use Internet at the University Library. In general, students are very pleased with the service given by the reference librarians, and with the collection of reference books.

This bachelor thesis focuses on the ethics concerning the possession of nuclear weapons seen from a deontological and utilitarian perspective. I have also considered the aspects of International law, the Just-war Theory, and Michael Walzer's Legalist Paradigm. The research question that guides my essay is: Is it possible to ethically justify a country's possession of nuclear arms, which results in direct and indirect threats against other countries?I have chosen to focus my essay on the period of 1945 to 1990, also referred to as the Cold War. I find the bipolar system that existed between the USA and the Soviet Union as a good empirical example, during which the nuclear arms debate constantly took place.The result that my thesis brings is rather ambiguous.

The purpose of my task was to map the pallet flows at Findus and put together as well as analyze the problems. My work has also included finding out what alternatives there are to the present pallet exchange system and suggest measures to reduce the problems.The problems can be divided into poor quality and hygiene issues. The poor quality, for instance poor strength is due to arbitrary judgements and the fact that there are companies that make a system of manufacturing forged pallets of an inferior quality compared to the EUR-pallets. These pallets are marked with stamps more or less similar to the EUR-mark and taken into the exchange system. Of course there are rules how to judge a pallet but these rules are many and sometimes indistinct and there are a lot of marks to keep track of.The most dangerous part is when the pallets lack the prescribed carrying capacity.

The way to acquire forest in Sweden from parents has been unequal, men were prioritized over women, which was the traditional inheritance pattern. Research has made this clearer by using gender, which ?values? our stereotypes of sexes and can help us understand inheritance patterns. The gender determined who would inherit but also the form of ownership, praxis, property rights, regulations, power and work invested made by a sibling could influence. The purpose with my study was to find what conditions governed inheritance of forest on the properties I investigated and what influence gender had.
