Arbete med utveckling av ett kartsökverktyg för nationell naturolycksdatabas
We have made a suggestion for a map based search tool used with a database containinginformation on natural disasters. The database is being developed by NCO (SwedishCentre for Lessons Learned from Incidents & Accidents). We examined both Swedish and international examples of databases on naturaldisasters. The examples that we found were often hard to get the hang of, due to poorcompilation. The problem, that is typical of the international examples, is that the processof data collection is not standardized, as it is performed by different organizations andcompanies with diverse demands on and needs for the database. Therefore, to keep itsymmetrical, there ought to be only one department with the overall responsibility for anational database on natural disasters in Sweden. The natural disaster we based our study on was the flooding in Arvika in the year 2000.We inspected the availability of data about the flooding, and found it to be satisfying.Through contact with the municipality of Arvika, by mail and telephone, and a visit at theArvika municipality office, we acquired reports on the flooding and the joint rescueoperation that followed, and also GIS layers showing the extension of the flooding..

Projekthanteringssystem
This document is a summary of my work to create a project management system for a small firm working with computer graphics. The intention is to manage customers, projects, images and invoices in the easiest possible way. To make the system as flexible as possible a web-interface was chosen which makes it possible to access the system from any computer, making it independent of any particular operating system. The only requirement on the user environment is that the computer must have a connection to the Internet to be able to access the system. The different techniques that have been used to develop the project management system is primarily Ruby on Rails and a MySQL database.
Individuell lönesättning : Rätt väg för jämställda löner?
Today there is still irrelevant pay differential in society. In Sweden in 2010, the average pay differential was 15,4 percent between the sexes. Only 0,8 percent better than EU:s average. In Sweden the individual salaries increasingly have begun to characterize the Swedish labor market. Based on this, the aim of this study is to highlight the issue of equal pay between men and women from the perspective of individual salary. This would also been doing with a background in the regulatory environment of equal pay. When it comes to equality between women and men it is the area of labor law in EU who is the most developed and in Sweden this is the area who is most affected by EU law.
Bibliotek möter fritidshem
In Sweden, many children in compulsory school attend after-school recreation centres. All children are offered local after-school recreation centre attendance in the age 6-12 during their parents? work hours. Our aim with this Master thesis is to investigate how after-school recreation centres can use libraries to stimulate children?s own interest to read.
Ljudlandskap i kulturmiljöer
This bachelor thesis aims to draw attention to sound in the heritage sector in Sweden. In particular, to thesoundscapes that can be identified in our cultural heritage environments. Sounds in an environment, here calledsoundscapes, affect our perception of the environment and how we remember it.To find out how the heritage sector uses and would be able to use sounds, I have firstly studied if audio recording iscomparable with the visual photographic image. I then present examples of sound documentation concerning theconservation of built environment. In addition, I have interviewed five key informants who all have a centralresponsibility for five cultural heritage environments.
Olika fönster mot samma omvärld ? En undersökning av omvärldsbevakningen på Stockholms stadsbibliotek och Akademibokhandeln i Stockholm
The aim of this thesis is to explore how a bookstore chain and a public library meet the needs of their customers through environmental scanning. The empirical material is derived from six semi-structured interviews with six informants, three from each organization, together with an analysis of internal documents. The method used is a case study and the theoretical framework is based on models used in the process of environmental scanning, as described by Choo, Hamrefors and Hedin & Sandström among others, and which facilitate a comparison of the environmental scanning of the two organizations. The results of the study indicate that the library, as a public organization with a mission in society, perceives the environment as society as a whole and all its members as their users, whereas the bookstore concentrates on the sectors of the environment that affect their sales. The consequences of these different views are that the library is more active in the environment and uses surveys as a basic source of information, while the bookstore is more passive, and relies on statistics for information.
Establishment and evaluation of a Barley starch isolation method with focus on representability
The high viscosity of barley material makes starch isolation problematical using regular methods established for cereals. An adjusted starch isolation method has been set up for barley, based on fractionation and purification. The focus is on attaining truly representative isolates of six flour samples selected for widely differing characteristics within the research program BarleyFunFood (BFF). Beside establishment of the method, this diploma work aspires to serve the BFF with isolated material of sufficient yield valid for further starch characterisation. A pre study was conducted evaluating available wet mixing equipment, experimental conditions and mode of procedure.
Vi hör inte läraren! ? En enkätundersökning i årskurs sex om upplevd ljudmiljö i skolan
Noise in schools can have negative effect on the teaching environment and speech perception. The national Child Environmental Health Surveys (BMHE) conducted in 2003 and 2011 studied how 12-year olds experience their sound environment in school. Results showed that the number of pupils that experience annoyance from noise increased from 2003 to 2011.Aim: The aim of this study was to study how 12-year olds perceive their sound environment in school.Methodology and material: A quantitative questionnaire survey was conducted in the sixth grade at two schools. The questionnaire used included questions from BMHE and self-produced questions. Sixtynine students answered the questionnaire. Results: Over 50 % of the respondents experience annoyance from noise in school several times a week.
Vård av arbete : En undersökning om work-life-balance, jämställdhet och genus

Elevers arbetsklimat, ämnesintresse och medelbetyg i årskurs 9 : Om sambandet mellan dessa tre viktiga aspekter i skolans verksamhet
In the Swedish governing document for the mandatory school (Lpo94) it is laid down that The school shall strive for being a living social community that gives safety and the will and desire to learn. The social community and the social relations in the school everyday existence are thereby without hesitation very important for the students' learning. The teacher always wants to engage the students and create order, comfort and a good work environment. In this essay, the relationship between students' work climates, matter interests and average grades is studied. This gives understanding and awareness in these important parts of the schools´ daily activity.

När backa inte längre var ett alternativ : Genomförandet av Arenastaden i Växjö
This thesis suggest an explanation for is how it is possible to understand that the large arena project in Växjö grew to cost sums of money that initially in the project not would have been an alternative to discuss, how goals changed and how the institutional environment changed the prerequisites of the project. As empirical part of the research, to describe and analyze the project, the municipality?s documentation of the project have been analyzed and semi-structured interviews have been made. Theoretical perspective is taken from the neo-institutionalism in sociology of organizations and change, and theories of the complexity of large projects with major symbolic value and importance. The project starts with the municipality?s investment and cost to be hold back, defined as a necessary condition in order to fulfil an ambitious drive towards new sport arenas. Eventually the necessary condition was abandoned and the arenas were built with the municipality responsible for the investment, cost and risk in the project.
How do intrinsic and extrinsic motivation correlate with each other in open source software development?
Open source is growing outside the boundaries of hackers, amateurs and software
development, creating a humongous potential in many different areas and aspects
of society. The intrinsic and extrinsic motivations that drives open source
have been in the subject of much research recently, but how they affect each
other when paid and unpaid contributors come together is still hidden in
obscurity. In this study I investigate how intrinsic and extrinsic motivation
correlates with each other and how those correlations affect paid and unpaid
open source software contributors. The literature synthesis is based on of
systematic reviews through searches in library databases, identification of
articles by searching on the Internet and by reading relevant books. My results
indicate that intrinsic and extrinsic motivations continuously affect each
other and that paid contributors are more vulnerable since their extrinsic
motivation in terms of money is reached only when many other motivations are
fulfilled.
Ledarskap i ett Lean perspektiv : vad i sitt ledarskap behöver lantbrukarna utveckla?
The essay is written at the request of Nyköping municipality park management by PatRadestedt who wanted a design proposal for one of the five courtyards at the Tessin Schoolin Nyköping. The Tessin School is located 2 miles from the center of Nyköping and the schoolhouses approximately 900 students. To make a design proposal for the courtyard that lies atthe canteen I decided from the outset that I wanted to take some of the Tessin SchoolStudents' opinions and wishes regarding their own outdoor spaces. I had a workshop witheight students from the arts program with the image orientation in which they had to drawand tell them what they wanted to do in the courtyard. The outcome of the workshop, Iused to move forward in my future work with a concept that fit into the environment, wethen apply it in my final design proposal.
