The jetengines of today are growing in complexity. Reliability for aircraft engines are of extreme importance, mainly due to safety reasons but also economical ones. This master thesis deals with faultdiagnosis in the turbine section of RM12, the engine used in Saab/BAe's Gripen. Three different faults which can occur in the turbine section was studied. These faults are: clogged fuel nozzle, hole in outlet guide vane and sensor fault.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the phenomenon of ?electronic bullying?, and furthermore to describe how this phenomenon is perceived by teenage girls with language disorders in combination with autism spectra. The conclusions and result from this study is derived from six in-depth interviews, thereof four being with girls with autism spectra diagnosis and all but one diagnosed with language disorder in addition (referred to as main respondents). The two reminding girls neither had language disorder nor autism spectra (referred to as comparing respondents). They were added to the study for the purpose of comparing their experiences and descriptions of those with language disorder and/or autism spectra diagnosis. For interpretation and analysis of study result, I have applied the method of phenomenology.                              The study?s main respondents had own experiences in the area of electronic bullying, albeit their level of knowledge of the subject were very limited and they had problems to interpret information given.

Hypoadrenocorticism (Addison´s disease) results from insufficient production of glucocorticoid and mineralcorticoid hormones from the adrenal glands. The disease is often difficult to diagnose in an early stage because of the multitude of associated vague clinical signs. The standard poodle is one breed presupposed to be at higher risk of developing the disease. The purpose of this study was to give a review of canine hypoadrenocorticism as described in literature, and to characterise Addison´s disease in a population of standard poodles in Sweden. Statistics on incidenceproportions by breed for hypoadrenocorticism from the database of the Swedish insurance company Agria are presented.

Fokusera på det du är bra på och ordna med hjälp med det du är mindre bra på. Det är ett genom-gående tema i de svar jag fått på frågan om hur man som individ kan lyckas i karriären när man har koncentrationssvårigheter.Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka hur man med koncentrationssvårigheter kan komma in på arbetsmarknaden, stanna kvar där och ha en framgångsrik karriär enligt sin egen värdering. Frågeställningarna vad kan individen göra själv och vad kan omgivningen göra har varit uppsatsens fokus som har ett tolkande synsätt och narrativ metod. Berättelserna från människor som antingen själva har koncentrationssvårigheter eller arbetar med människor som det har analyserats med hjälp av teorier om motivation, stämpling och normalisering.En slutsats från berättelserna är att positiva stimuli är viktiga för människor med koncentrationssvårigheter så att de jobbar med sådant som de tycker är stimulerande plus att man anpassar miljön och omgivningen efter deras individuella behov. En annan slutsats är att normen i samhället behöver ändras så att människor med koncentrationssvårigheter accepteras som de är istället för att stämplas.

Avsikten med den här studien var att ta reda på hur en diagnos kan påverka en elevs självuppfattning samt hennes skolsituation. Denna fallstudie visar att diagnosen inneburit en förklaring och positiv bekräftelse för eleven. Hon vet nu att det finns en orsak till hennes läs- och skrivsvårigheter. Hon har också blivit mer medveten om att hon har rätt att få mer hjälp vilket har bidragit till att eleven lättare själv ber om hjälp. Föräldrarna vet att de har rättighet att få mer stöd till sitt barn och att det finns olika hjälpmedel för att underlätta skolarbetet för henne.

Renal dysplasi (RD) is a congenital chronic renal disease affecting young dogs. It is a rather common disease that occurs in a large number of dogs and in some breeds there is a familiar incidence or suspected hereditary background. Both the etiology and pathogenesis are still unknown, but a theory about the cause of RD is that the two components that form the kidney, the uretheric bud and the metanephrogenic blastema, don´t interact normally in the embryo. Kidneys affected by RD contain fetal (immature) structures that are inappropriate for the state of development/age of the dog and abnormal structures caused by an abnormal differentiation. Rapporten behandlar lärarens roll i den rådande intentionen om en skola för alla. Syftet är att ge en vidgad förståelse kring lärarens roll i förhållande till elever med diagnosen ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Studien har baserats på några centrala frågor kring om, och i så fall hur undervisningssituationen skiljer sig i förhållande till dessa elever, samt vad som ingår i lärarens ansvar när det gäller utredning av eleven och föräldrakontakt. Studien avser även utreda hur lärare upplever det stöd som finns till förfogande i form av olika resurser. Via kvalitativa intervjuer med fem olika lärare har data insamlats och analyserats.

Diabetes mellitus is characterised by persistent hyperglycemia in all species. Fructosamine is a glycated protein reflecting blood glucose concentration during the preceding weeks. It has become a valuable analysis to differentiate persistent hyperglycemia from transient stress induced hyperglycemia in cats. It is also used to evaluate current therapy in diabetic patients. Although fructosamine is a well accepted analysis, it is sometimes regarded with scepticism.

Acute myocardial infarction is a serious diagnosis. Both the patient and the loved ones experience an immediate uncertainty. To be able to emotionally support the patient´s spouse, the nurse in the coronary care unit must be prepared to also encounter the world of the spouse. The aim of this study was from a nursing perspective to illuminate how life was experienced during the first two months by the spouse of someone, who was stricken by a first time acute myocardial infarction. Interviews with six spouses were conducted.

Background Calprotectin is a protein expressed in the cytoplasm inside the neutrophile granulocytes. During inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), the neutrophile granulocytes are involved in a complex interaction at the inflammatory area where they die and release their content into the intestinal lumen. Therefore, calprotectin in stool is a suitable marker for diagnosis and measurement of the disease-activity in patients with IBD. The most commonly used method to detect calprotectin in stool is ELISA, but the process of manual preparation of stool samples is time-consuming.Aim The objective of the study was to evaluate an extraction method that could replace manual preparation of fecal samples and to compare different methods for measuring Calprotectin in stool using two ELISA-methods from two manufacturers and one rapidtest.Methods For extraction of calprotectin from stool samples we used sample collector tubes from Epitope Diagnostics and fecal preparation kits from Roche. Two different ELISA-kits for measuring calprotectin concentration in stool were compared.

Neuropsykiatriska funktionsnedsättningar är idag lättare att diagnostisera och det är vanligare att barn och ungdomar i skolan vet om att de lever med en diagnos som till exempel Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (mer känt som ADHD), eller Aspergers syndrom. Trots att dessa diagnoser blir allt vanligare, finns det ett ökat behov för kunskapen om dem.Syftet med denna uppsats var att studera barn och ungdomar med neuropsykiatriska funktionsnedsättningar, och framförallt studera deras liv i skolmiljö. Att få mer förståelse för hur barn och ungdomar har upplevt skolan och relationen till sina lärare, men även hur de upplevt de hinder och möjligheter deras neuropsykiatriska funktionsnedsättning medfört var i fokus. Metoden i denna studie var semistrukturerade intervjuer med 6 ungdomar, deras föräldrar och lärare. Frågorna har handlat om hur ungdomarna sett på diagnosen, livet med den och även hur de klarat av skolgången med sin funktionsnedsättning.

This thesis has been carried out in collaboration with two students at the Department of Dental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. The aim of this project was to construct a computerized decision support system to facilitate diagnosis of changes in the Oral Mucosa using information collected by the above mentioned students. A program which poses specic questions to the user was constructed with the Java programming language. Depending on how these questions were answered, one or more possible diagnoses were presented by the program. In order to conclude whether or not this program was of any use in terms of time savings, a series of tests were run and timed both when using the program and when not.

Platelet aggregation is a major and common problem in blood samples from cats. This greatly affects the accuracy of counting of the platelets. Because of the difficulties in counting feline platelets, results for patients and reliable reference values for cat platelets are currently so inaccurate as to be almost useless in diagnosis of thrombocytopenia. In this study we used an effective method to prevent platelet aggregation. Blood was collected in CTAD test tubes and prostaglandin E1 was added to the blood sample.

Bakgrund: Många patienter i palliativ vård rapporterar en minskad, eller förändrad, förmåga att känna smak och lukt. Smak-och luktförändringar (SoL-förändringar) kan innebära lidanden för den enskilde patienten, men kan även påverka näringsintag samt få negativa följder i det dagliga livet.Syfte: Syftet var att rapportera om cancerpatienters erfarenheter av smak- och luktförändringar och påverkan och hantering av dessa i det dagliga livet när de är i palliativ fas. Metod: Kvantitativ data samlades in från åtta deltagare, under tre mättillfällen per deltagare, via ett frågeformulär. Kvalitativ data beståendes av kommentarer till frågorna, redovisades som citat. Resultat: Det var fem huvudfynd som framkom i resultatet.

The aim of this study was to understand how social workers perceive and understand violence and threats of violence from clients, and how it effect their working environment. It seems that the respondents understand the violence and threats of violence from clients as a result of the clients background problems, vulnerability, dependency and from ?the reason" that the client is currently in the contact with the organization. How respondents interpret the client´s behaviour based on the above-mentioned factors, seem to determine how the respondents perceive and define the violence and threats of violence by clients directed against them. Interestingly enough, although all respondents in the study experienced violence and threats of violence from clients, none of them perceived themselves as exposed at work. The answer to this is consensual.
