Genus och förskola i bilderboken : En analys av hur förskola eller förskoleklass och pedagoger framstÀlls i sex bilderböcker

The aim of this essay is to analyze six picture books from a gender perspective. Research and investigations shows that children's literature has a big influence on how young children understand norms and values related to gender identity. It is written in the Swedish curriculum for the non-compulsory school system that the pre-school should counteract traditional gender roles.In this essay, six picture books with stories that take place in a pre-school or a pre-school class are being analyzed. Two of them, according to their market strategy, challenges established gender norms. I have investigated if there are any differences between how the educator as a character and the pre-school are portrayed where a girl contra a boy has the leading role.

Rörelse i en sydafrikansk skola : En studie om lÀrares syn och tillÀmpning

AbstractAccording to a lot of people, movement contributes with a whole lot of positive things such as, learning, a better bodyknowledge, fellowship and koncentration. Movement has also proved to support many things regarding childrens development. According to Gun Sandborg-Holmdahl who is a teacher in pedagogic and Birgitta Stening who is an physical education teacher, movement and games commits many of the human senses wich contributes childrens ability to use their amagination and also spontanity. Games and movements have also shown to have good effects when it comes to childrens increased feeling to learn things. I have in this study, studied the South African school and their wiew on movement in school.

Datorn - vÀn eller fiende? : En jÀmförande studie mellan elevers datoranvÀndning utanför skoltid och betyg i engelska

Barn och ungdomar Àgnar idag en betydande del av sin fritid till datoranvÀndning. I denna uppsats har vi valt att undersöka datoranvÀndningens eventuella effekter pÄ ungdomarnas betyg i sprÄk. Uppsatsens syfte Àr att undersöka om man kan se samband mellan, dvs. positiva eller negativa effekter pÄ, betygen i engelska hos elever i Är 9 och deras datoranvÀndning utanför skoltid. UtifrÄn detta har vi Àven undersökt vilken typ av datoranvÀndning som har dessa effekter, hur lÄng tid framför datorn som motsvarar dessa resultat, samt om det finns skillnader mellan flickors och pojkars datoranvÀndning och deras mÀtbara sprÄkkunskaper.

Manliga pedagoger i förskolan : en kvalitativ undersökning om förvÀntningar pÄ mÀn och deras roll i förskolan

Media brings attention to the concept of preschools being in large need of more male teachers. In order to implement an increase of male teachers, various methods have been employed, most of which are based on the concepts of gender and equality. In question however, are the views of present teachers on the need for male teachers, and their expectations of those men! Or in other terms: What particular type of men are requested? And how does this correspond with the gender patterns induced by male teachers in their daily practical work? The purpose of this survey is to analyze expectations of male teachers and their role in the preschool context, through a gender perspective. I want to shed light on this purpose based on two questions: What ?kind? of men are requested by the present teachers? and Which gender patterns will the men induce to their daily work chores, and to their interaction with the children? The survey was conducted by means of interviews, polls, and observations, and the results were obtained from two preschools of which one in particular has extended focus on gender issues.

Barnlitteratur ur ett genusperspektiv

VÄrt syfte med studien var att undersöka om och i sÄ fall hur lÀrare arbetar medvetet med genus i litteraturen. Vi ville undersöka vilka böcker barn i tvÄ förskolor och elever i Är 2 i tvÄ skolor vÀljer att lÀsa och vilka genusstrukturer dessa böcker visar upp. För att fÄ vÄra frÄgestÀllningar besvarade har vi anvÀnt oss av halvstrukturerade intervjuer med fyra lÀrare, gjort boklistor pÄ böcker barn i förskolorna har tillgÄng till och eleverna i skolorna lÀser, samt gjort textanalyser ur ett genusperspektiv av Ätta av de mest populÀra barnböckerna i vÄrt material. Resultatet visar att de fyra intervjuade lÀrarna arbetar mycket med litteratur, men inte i nÄgon större utstrÀckning utifrÄn ett genusperspektiv. De vÀljer eller pÄverkar inte heller elevernas val utifrÄn genus nÀmnvÀrt.

Faktaboken i praktiken : hur ett antal barn- och ungdomsbibliotekarier arbetar med faktaböcker i sin lÀsstimulerande verksamhet

The purpose of this thesis is to study how children's librarians in public libraries use non-fiction books in their work to promote reading. My research questions are: What methods do children's librarians use för promoting non-fiction books? Are there children who can gain more from non-fiction books than other children do? Are there any differences in working with fiction and non-fiction books? To answer these questions I have interwieved five children's librarians about their methods, attitudes and thoughts on non-fiction books.The result shows that all of the librarians use non-fiction when it comes to promotion reading but not to the same extent. Some hardly use it at all, mainly because the schools that they are serving demands fiction books when practicing reading skills. while others use it but in less extent than fiction, as a way of separating the library reading from school work either because they want to keep the experience of reading in the library apart from school work or because they find it more efficient to do so.

Boys will be boys? - En idé- och ideologianalys av maskulinitetsnormer i utbildningsmaterialet Machofabriken

Uppsatsen syfte Àr att belysa maskulinitetsnormer i utbildningsmaterialet Machofabriken. UtifrÄn en teoretisk förstÄelse problematiseras ocksÄ hur handlingsutrymmet att göra maskulinitet kan pÄverkas för de deltagande killarna efter att de har tagit del av Machofabrikens verksamhet. De mer specifika frÄgestÀllningarna Àr:Vilka förestÀllningar kring maskulinitet ger utbildningsmaterialet Machofabriken uttryck för? Vilka maskuliniteter bör förÀndras och varför, och vad bör de ersÀttas med?Hur ska förÀndring genomföras, vilka Àr Machofabrikens verksamma komponenter?Vilka konsekvenser kan Machofabrikens verksamhet fÄ för de deltagande killarna efter att de har arbetat med utbildningsmaterialet?Metod och material: En kvalitativ ide- och ideologianalys av utbildningsmaterialet Machofabriken som Àr uppsatsens empiriska material.Huvudresultat: Analysen av utbildningsmaterialet Machofabriken pÄvisade att problematiska maskuliniteter, mÄnga gÄnger med vÄldstendenser, framstÀlldes i metodmaterialets filmer i större utstrÀckning Àn önskvÀrda maskuliniteter. Det tryckta textmaterialet med arbetsövningar och diskussionsfrÄgor har dock potential att lyfta fram hur maskuliniteter Àr en social konstruktion och dÀrför förÀnderlig.

"Det var stressigt, man visste typ inget" : VÀgledningen inför gymnasievalet, ur ett elevperspektiv

The purpose of this investigation was to study what students in in the first year of the social science program in high school think about the guidance they had access to during their time at primary school. This is to ensure that it the guidance students are entitled to and contribute to the development of the business. The survey was conducted at two different high schools in southern Sweden. A total of 57 students participated in the survey. The results show that 46 and 29 percent of students at the two schools did not feel they had the information they needed for their upper secondary school The results proving what previous research reached that students selection process can lead to stress and uncertainty associated with the choice to high school. The results of the present study showed that girls in particular have high standards for themselves and experience stress and anxiety associated with their selection to a greater extent than boys.

Genuskonstruktion och sprÄkutveckling : diskursanalys av sex skönlitterÀra barn- och ungdomsböcker ur ett feministisktperspektiv

Syftet med denna uppsats Àr att utröna vilka genusnormer som förekommer inom det skoldiskursiva fÀltet och huruvida skönlitteratur Àr en del i detta. UtgÄngspunken i min uppsats Àr att genuskodat sprÄk inverkar pÄ flickors och pojkars möjliga sprÄkutveckling och identitetsskapande. De frÄgor som stÀlldes var: Uppfyller dessa texter de krav som lÀroplanen stÀller pÄ att ge flickor och pojkar stimulans i den sprÄkliga utvecklingen oberoende av kön, vilka beskrivningar av genus Äterfinns i de skönlitterÀra böckerna samt har de i böckerna ingÄende karaktÀrerna olika handlingsmöjligheter och egenskaper ur ett genusperspektiv? Genom en diskursanalys av sex skönlitterÀra böcker lÀst av en Är 4 har jag utkristalliserat de meningar som beskriver pojk- respektive flickprotagonister. En intervju med lÀraren gjordes för att ringa in hur dessa elever valt sin litteratur.

Bilder av genus. : En studie om gymnasieelevers förestÀllningar om genus.

Studiens utgĂ„ngspunkt var att beskriva och analysera vilka förestĂ€llningar som ungdomar pĂ„ gymnasieskolans omvĂ„rdnadsprogram har om genus. I bakgrunden beskrivs hur skolan utvecklats ur ett genusperspektiv, samt ges nĂ„gra nedslag i den aktuella forskningen som bedrivs inom omrĂ„det. Den teoretiska ramen bestĂ„r av Pierre Bourdieus (1998) vetenskapliga analys om mĂ€ns makt över kvinnor, samt Berit Ås (2004) hĂ€rskartekniker. Studien var av kvalitativ karaktĂ€r och metoden som anvĂ€nts har varit kvalitativ intervju. Antalet intervjuer som genomfördes var Ă„tta.

Du slÄss ju som en hel karl, tjejen! Tankar om kickboxning i skolan som en vÀg till att nÄ ökad jÀmstÀlldhet

The purpose of this thesis is to, based on interviews and document studies, critically discuss how the introduction of kickboxing in Physical Education (PE) could affect gender equality in society. Based on a queer feminist and norm critical perspective on the prevailing teaching of PE, which, despite official efforts to challenge and modernize PE, persists in reproducing gender norms by e.g. spending 75% of class time on ball games. The hypothesis is that girls accessing violence (empowerment) through a bodily awareness in the form of kickboxing, positively would challenge the power imbalance that gender norms create. Girls are brought up, even today, in accordance with gender norms arguing against girls/women wanting to use their bodies as powerful tools to set limits.

Celiaki i barn och ungdomsÄren : Livskvalitet ur barn- och förÀldraperspektiv

Introduction: More and more children and young people get the diagnosis celiac disease established. Celiac is a life-long disease, which means that the child during the rest of its life has to be on a strictly gluten-free diet. There are few studies so far, which have examined how children having a life-long disease with food treatment and increasing prevalence really experience their health related quality of life (HRQoL).Purpose: The purpose of the study was to examine how children (8 ? 18 years old) suffering from celiac valued their HRQoL and to illustrate as well whether the age of the child and its extent of disease when it was taken ill affected the child?s evaluation of HRQoL later in life. The purpose was also to compare whether the children?s parents valued the HRQoL of their children to the same extent as the children did.Method: 160 children, 54 boys and 102 girls were included in the study.

"Kom och hugg oss" : En studie om idrottsklubben AIK:s kommunikation i samband med det uppmÀrksammade hockeyderbyt den 22 december 2010

In December 22, 2010, the hockey clubs AIK and DjurgÄrden played against each other in front of an audience of more than 11 000 people in Ericsson Globe Arena, Stockholm. Although it was one of the biggest games of the year, afterwards no one was talking about the actual game on the ice. The reason; several times during the game, hooligans from both sides started big quarrels and the hockey dome felt more like a war scene than a place for a hockey game. From a branding point of view, and along with similar incidents from the past, the night in December did not create a good situation for AIK and their image.  Therefore, in this essay I want to investigate how AIK communicated through the crisis. I also want to evaluate whether their communication was good or bad from the perspective of different crisis communication theories.The essay?s research questions are:How did media describe the crisis and AIKŽs part in it?What effect did AIKŽs previous history of similar problem have on the ongoing crisis?How did AIK communicate through the crisis?How was AIKŽs image affected by the crisis?What did AIK do well/what could AIK have done better?To be able to answer these questions, several news articles from the sports paper ?Hockeyexpressen? has been analyzed as well as a text from AIK itself.

Skriftliga omdömen och betyg hjÀlper eller stjÀlper det?

This examination project focuses on the pupils and teachers experience of written assessments and grades.  To highlight the significance of assessments and grades we will present the background to the development of the current educational view of knowledge, assessment and marking models.  Today?s current laws and policies are described as is a proposal for a future law and grading scheme.The project is based on literature we have read and the empirical material is derived from interviews with eight students and two teachers. Four of the students are eleven years old, the other four are between seventeen and nineteen. The teachers teach years four and five. Each sex is equally represented.  The interview questions are based on the students memories and personal development discussions in which the written assessments were presented.

Är det viktigare att man lĂ€ser Ă€n vad man lĂ€ser? : En studie i hur genus framstĂ€lls i barnböcker med fotbollstema

The aim of this thesis is to highlight how male and female characters are portrayed in children?s books, that have football as a theme, and are written for children between 9-12 years of age. I have chosen this subject so that I, as a pre-school teacher, can adhere to the curriculum?s aim of maintaining the school?s responsibility for counteracting traditional gender roles. I aim to study how gender is represented in literature for children.I shall apply Yvonne Hirdman?s theories on the gender system which is built on the principals whereby the sexes are separate entities and there is a structural hierarchy between them.
