Syfte och frågeställningarSyftet med studien är att belysa hur idrottssituationen har sett ut för svenska och finska kvinnor under 1900-talet fram till idag. Hypotesen är att stora framsteg har gjorts inom idrotten för kvinnor under ett århundrade. Frågeställningarna är: hur såg möjligheterna till idrottsutövande ut för kvinnor i Finland och Sverige på 1920?70 talet? Hur ser kvinnoidrotten i Finland och Sverige ut i dagsläget?MetodSammanlagt deltog 104 kvinnor i åldern 36-84 år i studien, där majoriteten av undersökningsdeltagarna var födda på 1950- och 60-talet. Till denna studie användes en kvantitativ metod i form av enkätundersökning.

This paper studies the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein during his years (1920?26) as an elementary school teacher in remote Niederösterreich, Austria. The paper gives a survey of his life, and also a brief account of three of his main works: Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, Philosophical Investigations and Remarks on the Foundations of Mathematics. Attention is given to his alphabetical word list, Wörterbuch für Volksschulen, published for educational use in elementary schools. The study is focused on Wittgenstein?s educational practise, and establishes a connection between his experience as a teacher and his late philosophy..

It is widely recognized that the town of Södertälje, a small Swedish town of 85 000 inhabitants, has alone received more war refugees from Iraq than the US and Canada have put together. Whilst writing this thesis had nearly 6000 Iraqi refugees sought their way to Södertälje since the US invasion in Iraq 2003.Nevertheless, life is not what the media and the government retail. Six of these Iraqi refugees who resided in Södertälje share their life stories in the following thesis. They discuss their escape from Iraq and the difficulties of living in the segregated parts of Södertälje where they solely speak Arabic and Assyrian, whilst learning Swedish at sfi (Svenska för invandrare, Swedish for immigrants). Another distress is related to the unsecure future in Sweden waiting ahead.      The aim of this thesis is to engage in, and highlight the studies of six sfi-students in their endeavor to learn Swedish, whilst struggling through Swedish bureaucracy and experiencing despair due to their situation and uncertain future.       .

This report is about a couple of specially chosen peatlands in eastern Uppland, Sweden. It concerns their development between the year 1922 and 2012. The historic fact originates from a large investigation of peatlands in the south of Sweden made by the Swedish Geological Survey, SGU, in the 1920?s. To be able to choose peatlands an analysis in GIS were made, in which we were able to find locations good enough for our field investigation. During the field investigation we bore to find nice peat cores that later went through several analyses in a lab.

The topic of this paper is tuberculosis, especially in regard to the sanitarium movement and the efforts that were made to cure, ease and stop the spreading of the disease. The sanitarium movement was established in the late 19th century before any effective cure for the disease had been found. At this time the only treatment for the patients were fresh air, rest and good food. The paper analyses the case books for some of the patients at the sanitarium Lugnet which was situated close to the Swedish town Växjö in order to see if the treatment of the patients differed depending on gender. The result of the inquiry suggests that there were no difference in the treatment of men and women..

Nationalismens utbredning i svenska läroböcker förändras med tiden i form av illustrationer, omfattning samt text-och bildmaterial. De böcker som jag studerat i denna uppsats är valda utifrån tre tidsnedslag (1920-, 1960-, 2000-tal) där varje tidsnedslag representerar en form av nationalism som både är lik och olik de andra tidsnedslagen. Genrellt sett så utvecklas nationalismen i takt med samhällets förändringar och ideologier. Det är utifrån samhällets behov som nationalismens utbredning tar form, vilket sedan påvisas i läroböckerna. Historiskt har nationalismen i svenska läroböcker gått från att fungera som propagandamaterial till att spegla en typ av mångkulturalism..

The purpose of this paper is to bring a British mural painting that originated in England in the 1920?s into the limelight and introduce it to the Swedish public. The mural was commissioned by Tate Gallery, currently known as Tate Britain. The work of art was designed for a semi-public space as a decoration in the Refreshment Room of the gallery, located in the basement where there was little natural light. The artist, a young British man named Rex Whistler, was transformed from being a student at an art school into a celebrated professional artist by this piece of art.

Produktplacering utvecklades på 1920-talet inom amerikansk film och huvudsyftet då handlade inte om att tjäna pengar. Produkterna lånades på den tiden bara ut till skådespelarna för användning. Centralposthuset i Göteborg uppfördes mellan 1918-25 för att man mer effektivt skulle kunna sortera och distribuera post. Idag finns det planer på att bygga om detta tomma monumentala posthus till ett hotell. Huset och dess historia innehåller många berättelser. Detta finns i dess visuella gestaltning och arkitektur, men också genom dess funktion och betydelse för samhället. Frågor av modern gestaltning som placeras in i en historisk kontext blir viktiga att diskutera när denna förändring av huset blir realitet.

I Karlstad fick en majoritet på mellan 60 och 80 procent av barnen två förnamn. I Ekshärad var det däremot mer vanligt att endast ge dem ett.

The Swedish government ratified on May 1 2009 an amendment of marital law, resulting in same-sex marriage becoming legalized. With the rights of the Christian Swedish state church to officiate weddings originating from the same law, the church was thereby faced with two options: Either officially include same-sex couples in the Christian concept of holy matrimony and keep the right to officiate weddings; or give up the right to officiate weddings altogether. An official decision to accept the terms was reached on October 22 2009, but not without being preceded by an agitated medial debate.This research attempts to analyze the arguments of the debate in three stages: In the first stage the arguments are categorized according to their respective ideological standpoint. In the second stage these categories are examined from post-modern, social constructivist and socialization theory perspectives. Based on this, the third stage sees the arguments analyzed from a viewpoint based in the Copenhagen school concept of securization.The research concludes that the debate does not only simply feature two sides with differences of opinion; but rather that the arguments of the two opposing sides are founded in a common view of the other side as a fundamental threat to ones conception of a sound society..
