Today?s climate research shows that the climate may increase its temperature. One sector that is being threatened by global warming is the winter tourism of the Swedish municipality A?re. Tourism is an important economical source of income in A?re and is now threatened by a shortened winter season.

Hur mÀnniskors begrepp om urbana platser relaterar till bedömning av platsernas estetik och mikroklimat

The objective of this study was to uncover what aspects of urban plazas and parks that are most important for users? evaluations of places? aesthetics and microclimate (the characteristic climate for a limited space). This was done by investigating people?s general ideas of plazas and parks (the prototypical concepts) and compare these with place users? descriptions of four specific places. Interviews with two groups (31 and 24 persons respectively) were carried out in order to collect this information.

In today?s hectic society more and more people experience stress and our lifestyle gives us a very limited chance to recover. For some it sometimes goes that far that they get burnt-out, they have pushed themselves to the ultimate limit. There are different methods and treatments to recover but one very efficient treatment is to spend time in a rehabilitation garden. There the patients get treated by therapeutics that uses the garden as the main tool.The fact that gardens and parks have a positive effect on humans have been used by people for a long time but it?s not until recently that the research has taken speed.

AimOur aim with this study was to examine how outdoor education is designed and experienced in three upper (senior) levels of compulsory school in Stockholm, and to compare it with the Norwegian equivalence.MethodOur method has been interviews with ten teachers, of whom six are Swedish teachers and four are Norwegian teachers. Two Swedish teachers are teaching in other subjects than Physical Education, four are teachers in Physical Education, two are teachers in Norway in Physical Education at and two are teachers in Norway at university level. Questionnaires were used to examine the Swedish pupils? attitudes towards outdoor education. 90 questionnaires were delivered, and 70 answered them.

Den gröna myten : En kommuns strategiska arbete mot hÄllbarhet, samarbetsanda och affÀrsmöjligheter

Our aim is to create a greater understanding for how VÀxjö Municipality is working with their vision, strategy and brand, and also how it is perceived by the business sector. This understanding will help us to highlight success factors and pitfalls that exist in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of a municipality?s identity, image and profile to convince the business sector to follow.Methodology: We have been using an abductive and qualitative research-method in which semi-structured interviews have been the basis of our empirical material. We had interviews with three employees, a communication manager and the mayor at VÀxjö Municipality as well as four organizations and two companies with sustainable focus. We did this to get different perspectives and thereby get a greater understanding.Analysis & conclusion: We have been able to identify both success factors and pitfalls in VÀxjö Municipality's strategic sustainability work.

Background: Today, It?s not uncommon that international companies and organizations have a higher turnover than the GDP of developing countries. Consequently, this may suggest that the choices companies make in the context of their business has a great potential to influence the world from an economic, but also from a social and environmental standpoint. From this the notion emerged that companies have a responsibility, referred to as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). A clear definition of the CSR concept is difficult to find, more than 37 different definitions has been identified.

Bakgrund och problem: Under de senaste 20 Ären har en global oro vÀxt kring konsumtionens pÄverkan pÄ miljön. Faktorer som den globala uppvÀrmningen, hÄl i ozonlagret samt katastrofer som Tjernobyl var nÄgra av drivkrafterna. Historiskt börjar nu den gröna marknadsföringen att framtrÀda pÄ marknaden. Den delades in i tre faser varav en fas representerar marknadsföring av miljövÀnliga produkter, designade för att frÀmja en hÄllbar konsumtion (Mishra & Sharmra, 2012). Det Àr dock under 2000-talet som konsumenternas miljömedvetenhet leder till en ekologisk trend och livsstil.

Miljökommunikation : Att effektivt kommunicera och motivera hÄllbar utveckling

Under de senaste Ären har samhÀllets oro för vÀrldens miljötillstÄnd vÀxt och gett upphov till en sÄ kallad grön marknadsföring. Miljö Àr ett svÄrt Àmne att kommunicera pÄ grund av dess breda omfattning och svÄrigheterna som finns med att förenkla informationen utan att tappa helhetsförstÄelsen. Stora samhÀllsaktörer sÄsom företag och statliga organisationer har ett ansvar för förÀndringsarbetet i och med att de kan visa vÀgen för en grönare social norm och kollektivt agerande. En kvantitativ studie av miljökommunikationsteori som den beskrivs i litteraturen har utförts, dess praktiska tillÀmpning har sedan undersökts kvalitativt genom fallstudier av tvÄ organisationers miljökommunikation. Studien söker svar pÄ vilka skillnader som finns mellan företags och kommuners miljökommunikationsprocess samt hur den kan förbÀttras för att Ästadkomma positiva beteendeförÀndringar i samhÀllet och dÀrmed ta steg mot en hÄllbar utveckling.

growforgold.org : a design proposal for creating productive green space in cities

The aim of our master thesis is first and foremost to win the competition One Prize - mowing to Growing: Reinventing the American Lawn, announced in USA by the organization Terreform 1, the first of December 2009. Apart from winning the competition we have also tried to reach a deeper understanding of food production today and its future possibilities. Our ambition to present a winning design proposal has to a large extent decided the structure of the entire thesis. Our completed and submitted design proposal - growforgold.org - is a way of addressing urban food production in a creative way, keeping the sovereignty of the individual in mind. Instead of presenting a place-specific design solution our proposal aims to create incentives and possibilities for urban farming to take place anywhere and anytime. Our submission to the competition represents both a tool and a platform which, put in practice, could make landscape architecture happen through the hands of the individual.

Syftet med denna studieÀr att undersöka hur Gröna PÄsen implementeras i förskolans verksamhet utifrÄn barnens tankar och reflektioner. Syftet Àr ocksÄ att ta reda pÄ vad barnen har för kunskap om vad som hÀnder med den Gröna PÄsenefteratt sopbilen hÀmtat denoch dess pÄverkanför en hÄllbar utveckling. Att undersöka om barnens erfarenheter och kunskaper kring Gröna PÄsen kan kopplas samman med pedagogernas arbeteför att implementera den, Àr ocksÄ en del av syftet med denna studie.Den metod som valts fördenna studieÀr fokusgruppmetoden. Fokusgruppmetoden kan beskrivas som intervjuer i grupp kring syftet som finns med undersökningen.Fokusgruppsintervjuerna genomfördes pÄ tvÄ avdelningar pÄ samma förskola och sammanlagt 15 barn i fyra olika fokusgrupper deltog vid fokusgruppsintervjuerna. Svaren ifrÄn fokusgruppsintervjuerna analyserades med hjÀlp av teoretiska utgÄngspunkter, tidigare forskning och litteratur, samt kopplades till syftetoch frÄgestÀllningarna i studien.Resultatet av studienÀr att barnenhar en viss kunskap kring vad Gröna PÄsen Àr, vadsom hÀnder med Gröna PÄsen och vad man ska och inte ska slÀnga i Gröna PÄsen.

Restaurering av vÄtmarker; Inventering av vadare och andfÄglar vid Norra LingenÀset

The release of green house gases and the environmental impacts humans have on the environment are huge and might cause irreversible changes to our earth. Meat is considered to have large impacts on the environment, especially beef meat and therefore there have lately been considerable discussions on the sustainable level of meat consumption and production. The main goal with this thesis is to study sustainable meat production and meat consumption in the county of Dalarna in Sweden. Indicators for sustainable meat production and meat consumption were developed and applied on three cases. Interviews were carried out with a municipality in the region that represents the consumer and three beef farmers that represents the producers.

The question formulation can be described as following: How can i as a landscape architect renovate parks with different characters conserving their existing qualities. By studying and documenting the parkŽs history and current usage and using methods of evaluating a park?s heritage value ( Kulturhistorisk vÀrdering av bebyggelse, UnnerbÀck 2002) i could conclude which qualities to conserve and suggest and motivate what features to add or renovate.
