The purpose of this study is to give us a deeper understanding about street workers importance for Youths. We also wanted to investigate this from a gender perspective, both considering the street workers but also the Youths. The focus for this study is on both the street workers and the Youths. The study is based on a qualitative approach. We were going to study people and their behaviors.

The purpose of this essay was to in a specific project for unemployed Youths between 18 and 24 years, from an ecological point of view, examine how the Youths experienced their unemployment and also to compare the purpose and structure of the project with the participants' experience.Important questions in my essay were how the unemployment affected the Youths' identity and social circumstances, if the participants found the project meaningful, and experienced that they could influence how the project was formed, if the purpose of the project was in accordance with the Youths' experience and how the ecological perspective could be used to understand the situation of the Youths.To answer these questions one interview was made with one of the employees and five interviews were made with participant Youths.The results of the essay was that the Youths' experience of the project were very much individual. All of the participants found something in the project meaningful and most of them thought that it was possible to influence the project in some way. Something that both the Youths and the employee pointed out as important was the employees and their supporting role..

This study is based on interviews with four Youths that have been treated for problems such as drugabuse and criminality. The aim of this master´s thesis is to examine the Youths experiences with the treatment they received, but also to examine how they look upon their own lifesituations. The study is presented in categories developed through the use of Grounded theory. The result points out that the treatment can be summarized mainly in two aspects- one concerning care and one concerning control. The first aspect includes supportive and friendly staff while control in this context stands for rules and supervision of different kinds.

AbstractThe purpose of this essay was to examine how young people who are about to graduate from high school define and value their future. We also wanted to se which emotions they associate with their future and what or who influences them in their choices in life.The questions for our study were:What does it mean for these Youths to become an adult?What images do they have of future education, profession and unemployment?What or who influences the picture they have of their future?What kind of attitude do they have towards the future?We approached the research with a qualitative method and interviewed ten Youths in high school. Our conclusion was that the Youths had an ambivalent attitude towards becoming adults; it was scary and yet exciting. The Youths had the impression that education was important in order get a good job and to avoid unemployment.

The aim of this study was about how librarians in Sweden work with their web page to reach young people between the ages of fifteen and nineteen. Most of the Youths in Sweden today use Internet every day for several reasons, and the library should have an obvious place there as well. It shouldbe obvious because almost all Youths uses Internet every day and therefore the library needs to be seen there as well to reach out to them. Earlier research has shown that librarians and Youths think differently in this question. Youths think that the library web page is more important for the librarythan the librarians do.How do the librarians work with marketing for Youths on the web page? Do their policy documents help them in their work?To study this area we have interviewed librarians from six quite large public libraries from different parts of thecountry.

As a soccer coach for Youths with disabilities and as active soccer players, our thoughts regarding the basic principles of sports where awakened and how it corresponds with the possibilities of disabled Youths participating in club organized sports. From that thought came the idea that, with our team as the point of original we should contribute with increased knowledge regarding the experiences of disabled Youths doing sports. Using ethnography and co-operative observations we have researched both including and excluding factors that contribute to the possibilities of disabled Youths opportunity to do sports. We have been able to distinguish that the Youths in question feel that sports can be identity-building as well as give a sense of community. The study shows that the basic principles of sports does not correspond with reality because the lack of availability is the determinant factor. .

The purpose of the study was, with initial position from two particular youth homes, to survey the staff?s experiences regarding different youth cultures that might occur at the institutions and how they react to them. The question formulations were as follows: What kind of youth cultures might occur at the institution and how are they being expressed, according to some of the staff members? How do the same staff members, individually, see their role and prospect to influence the type of youth culture that is developing on the institution? Earlier research in the field were used as theoretical starting positions as well as the concepts of ?looking-glass self?, ?the generalized other? and ?the overtaking of roles? in the symbolic-interactionism. Qualitative research interviews were carried through with three of the employees at the two youth homes and the results of the study evinced that both positive and negative youth cul-tures develops at both of the institutions, concluding the fact that Youths affect each other both ways.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the outreach services for children and Youths in a specific area, in this case Västra Götalandsregionen. In particular this thesis will examine the development in the outreach services for children and Youths from 1990-2010. Our thesis will also examine if the financial crises affected the outreach services for children and Youths, and how control documents influence the work of the librarians. This study is based on interviews, document and literature studies. For the analyses we used Torgil Persson?s theoretical model.

The purpose of this paper was to examine how Youths, age 18-20, experience the verdict to the probation service and how it affects their lives. We have examined the relation between Youths and the probation service from a youth perspective, what kind of support and intervention they receive and how their surroundings react and respond on the verdict. Our research was based on a qualitative method consisting of individual interviews with eight Youths and one interview with a social worker from the probation service. We have used Urie Bronfenbrenner's "the Ecology of Human Development" as our main theory and the conceptions labeling, participation and the key terms adversity and protective environment to analyse and comprehend the material. We found that all eight Youths were satisfied with the probation service and the help they had received.

This essay examines how a group of five Youths? self identities are affected by unemploy-ment, contact with the social services and by labour market interventions. In Sweden youth employment has been regarded as a social problem. Arbetslinjen that could be translated into the work model or the work line influences and is a necessity for the Swedish welfare system. With a hermeneutic scientific philosophical position the method used to examine this has been to interview the Youths, in the age of 18-25, individually.

We wanted to know if they had a secure or insecure attachment to their parents and if the attachment was affected after a time at Hassela. We were interested in what kind of attachment figures they had before they came to Hassela, Gotland and how they looked at themselves and others before they came there and if that had been changed.We used a qualitative method and we did ten interviews with Youths who had been at Hassela, Gotland eight months or longer. We based our analysis on the attachment theory.

The purpose of this essay has been to examine how the city of Helsingborg´s prevention of alcohol and drug use among Youths is laid out. It has been of special interest to examine the youth centers (after school programs) preventive work with Youths and its effects on frequency of alcohol and narcotics use among Youths.The people we have interviewed are all involved in the three organizations: the youth centers, schools, and social services. The results showed that the youth center staff does not think that they work actively preventive against alcohol and narcotics. On the other hand, the staff at the youth centers points out that just keeping the Youths in the neighbourhood and making them involved in the activities at the youth center, is preventary work. The staff at the social services points out that it is not the facilities that is part of the preventive work but the activities and the skill of the staff that is improtant for the Youths..

Music has a role to play in every country and every culture. Sweden today is a country whith many different cultures, religions and music genres. The purpose of this investigation is to study how immigrants Youths profit from music education on the basis of music teachers' perspectives. Questions at issue are: are there immigrant children/ Youths who can not take part in music education? Have the students' religions any importance? Do the parents question the offered education? Is there more opposition to some specific kind of music? Are teachers avoiding to present some music? Can music education help the immigrant Youths to form their identities? I have used questionnaires and I have made five interviews.

Youths tend to have a bad reputation. Their outspokenness and spontaneity are two of many reasons to why they are seen as rude and disrespectful. The creativity, curiosity and not least the courage to have opinions and attitudes are in such young age not yet weakened. Youths, their thoughts and attitudes change quickly. This essay will deal with a selected group of Youths and their attitudes to the surrounding society.

This thesis has been written within the research project ?Tillfälligt Uppbrott?, which concerns Youths who have run away or been thrown out of their homes. The project is based on a na-tional poll among more than 3000 high school students. Our purpose has been to study Youths who have left home and their own experiences. We have looked at all the question-naires in which the Youths stated they had left home and focused on their answers to five open questions.
