Värdet av ökad kvalitet av Tinnerö eklandskap

en värderingsstudie med Contingent valuation method

Around 85 percent of the total population in Sweden today lives in an urban environment. This means that the nature within the urban areas has come to play an important role for the human well being. At the broader picture, the nature within urban areas is profitable in many ways. It is therefore important for the municipalities around in Sweden to work for sustainability within the urban areas. Linköping adopted an environmental policy, in year 2001, from the delegate of the municipality. This has lead to large investments on environmental improvments and on the protectance and development on the nature within the urban environment. This thesis aims to estimate a monetary value for the planned development and quality increase that might occur for the nature reserve Tinnerö eklandskap. Monetary values like this can give guidance for decision makers in the future. To estimate this value I have used a valuation method called The Contingent Valuation Method. This is a direct method where you collect information about people's willigness to pay through questions. In my study I have choosen to send out 1500 questionnaires to randomly selected people in the municipality. In the main question of the questionnaire I asked the respondents to either accept or reject a price for the quality increase of Tinnerö. I also asked some questions about their characteristics like income, environmental intersest and gender. These characteristics have also given me information of what motives the respondents might have to reject or accept the price. The mean monetary value of the quality increase of Tinnerö eklandskap is estimated to 252, 30 kr/year and per person. If I instead estimated this value by voting, then 50 percent of the collectors would prefer a value between 100 and 250kr/year and per person. I have not been able to create a complete model that explains the willigness to pay for the quality change of Tinnerö. But I have been able to point out the most important motives for acceptance of the price. These motives are mainly environmental involvement and if the respondents earlier have visited Tinnerö.
