- En jämförande kvalitativ studie om insatser för män som utövar våld i heterosexuella relationer
The aim of this study was to examine and compare two municipalities? approaches to deal with men?s violence as a social problem. Further the aim was to analyze social workers? opinions about interventions for men who practice violence in heterosexual relationships. The study has got a qualitative approach and we did a subjective selection where we chose to apply semi-structured interviews with social workers who work with domestic violence. These interviews were exercised in two different sized municipalities, because we aimed to get information if the work with violent perpetrators differs in the larger and the smaller municipality. We chose to perform three interviews in the larger municipality and two in the smaller. More specifically the aim of the study was to examine what kind of interventions and work methods that were characterized for the organizations and how the preventive work with men?s violence against women were performed in the municipalities. Further we wanted to compare the social workers? opinions about the interventions for men who practice violence against women. We have adopted a new institutional perspective as a theoretical basis for our analysis. We found in the study that the big difference between the municipalities and their work with violent perpetrators was that the larger municipality had an underlying organization apart from the social service that performed the work. In the smaller municipality the work was integrated with other work tasks on the social service office. Similarities in the municipalities were that the social service offered individual treatment to the perpetrators and they were inspired by ATV: s way of manage violence. Both municipalities aimed to work preventively spreading knowledge in order to make men?s violence visible.
