med fokus p? isoleringsmaterialen

The survey aims to shed light on traditional and contemporary bottom floor frames, their construction and different insulating materials; mineral wool, wood shavings and charcoal. The purpose is to analyze and discuss the similarities and differences as well as the pros and cons with a focus on the construction and the different insulating materials. The work has been limited to comparing two different wooden floor frames. The first one is based on a real floor frame from an older building, this example is presented as the traditional floor frame in this study and are from around 1940. The other floor frame is presented as a contemporary floor frame and is based on wood building type descriptions and literature. Both constructions are floor frames over an outside air ventilated crawl space. Based on the work, some conclusions could be drawn. One of them is that it can be said that the traditional and contemporary construction in many ways is equal, but one difference is that in the contemporary solution, the underside of the construction is insulated to protect it. There is a bigger difference between traditional and contemporary insulation materials. Wood shavings are a residual product and so can probably also the charcoal be. These materials are when they are dry ready to be laid in as insulation, and do not need any further manufacturing process. Mineral wool, on the other hand, can be partly made from a residual product, but in addition requires a very energy-intensive manufacturing process to become insulation. These are some conclusions that been drawn in this work.
