Språkmönster i elevtexter

En undersökning av elevtexter ur ett genusperspektiv


The aim with this study is to conduct a text analysis of 40 texts from www.skrivbanken.se . The texts were written by fifteen year old boys and girls in the school subject Swedish. The texts were analyzed from a gender perspective. The differences in contents, the use of concepts, attitudes towards the imposed information and formality were examined.. The theoretical background on expectations on gender roles was used to construct a framework for analyzing the text. The result shows that there were more differences between the individuals in every sex group rather than between the two groups. The texts are very small in size and therefore it is difficult to make a significant generalization based on them. Differences that the analysis shows, is that the girls used I and we more than the boys. The boys were instead better than the girls at summarizing and giving example in their texts. However, they were not as good as the girls at setting up a letter according to established conventions. The underlying explanation to the differences is most likely due to teaching and other adults in the pupils? environment having conscious and unconscious expectations on girls and boys. These expectations in turn contribute their acceptance of these roles. Girls are encouraged to write well and correctly and boys to express their opinions in the classroom, with the result that pupils focus on different things when writing texts.
