Prestationsmätningar och Realtidsvisualisering på Sectra Mamea

Sectra Mameas is a medical technology company in an expansive phase that is planning to increase its volume capacity with 50 % in the beginning of 2009. This to be able to deliver the increased number of systems that the customers request. To be able to produce more units the takt time of the assembly line needs to be shortened. This could only be done by identifying and solving recurring problems. To be able to find the problems, create a common knowledge of which these are and eliminate them the production department of Sectra Mamea needs to visualize certainKey Performance Indicators (KPI) in the organization. This is the object of the thesis. It will streamline the communication within the production department as well as towards the other departments at Sectra Mamea. The thesis started with a study of literature within the topics performance measurements and visualization to summarize the existing theories. A study of the present situation at Sectra Mamea and a benchmarking at Scania was performed parallel to the literature study. These empirical studies where performed by observations and interviews. The empirical study was compared to the literature study, and the analysis resulted in the creation of a system to visualize takt and status of the assembly line at Sectra Mamea. The system was created in three levels; one individual system that visualize the real time status at the separate work area, one common system to visualize the status of all working areas in real time and one historical system that visualize the results from the last period of time. The individual and common systems where made as a web application at the company?s server, and the historical system was created both in the Business Intelligence application QlikView and in Excel to report the results visual. The information is gathered from the business system of Sectra Mamea where the assembly personnel make an entry of the consumption of material as well as time of the procedures. By visualizing takt and status at the line, a possibility is created for everybody to determine whether the areas are will be done in time, or if they will get behind the schedule. The personnel at each area can predict rather they will manage in time, the team leaders can easily determine which areas could need some help and the production manager can see the status of today as well as from the last period of time.
