Nybyggnad till fårproduktion
In Sweden we need more lambs during March to June. I decided to calculate on a spring lamb
production, because to many of the Swedish lambs go to slaughter in the autumn. I counted on
1000 ewes which have 2000 lambs each year, 200 of these lambs stays on the farm and
replace old ewes. The buildings are 3600 square meters. I have counted on two different sorts
of buildings, the first one is a shed, the second one is three polytunnel sheephouses. I feed
them with a TMR wagon onto three electric bands. Each band is 100 meters and has a 4 by
100 meter box on each side.
The purpose of this work is to see if a spring lamb production is profitable.
I have calculated so I saw the profit after 1, 2, 3 and 11 years and I choose to pay back the
hole investment in ten years.
In the results you can se that there is a loss over the hole 30 year period. There is about 3000
hours of work yearly in this production. If you pay wages the hole time you will not be able to
repay them. The polytunnel houses are cheaper to build, but they probably have to be replaced
after 15 years. The shed will probably last for 30 years.
