The purpose with this work is to investigate the cost to produce piglet in a case study
company. The starting point is going to be the agriwise (www.agriwise.org) calculation which
I am going to change and adapt to the case study company. To day the pig market is bad but
we have probably reached the bottom. The market has started to rise. It is no business to
produce piglets today. The price for one delivered 27 kg pig is today 400 SEK with all
additions. The cost is 510 SEK to produce one piglet at the company. The buildings are paid
so if you don?t include them to calculation you must have 450 SEK to get full paid. If you
look in agriwise calculation you see that you need 600 SEK to get paid if there is a new
building. It seems not to be a good idea to invest in piglets today. The best must be to go on
like before and se how the market is going to develop and how the EU expanding is going to
influence.
